Perhaps the biggest area where Pacific is lacking is mental strength under pressure. In a BO5, having a player who can inspire the team is a big advantage, and Boostio and Zellsis are definitely deserving of it. Looking at the Pacific team as a whole, they do not have any players with that kind of energy, so their patience is weakened.

Honestly, if GenG maintain this form, i will say they are the team with the highest chance of winning a tournament. They clearly do not lack in the mechanical department and are clearly a much more flexible team than other top pacific teams have in the past. Like, Prx has their aggression and combo plays and Drx with their discipline and set plays, the only 2 teams that could have realistically won in the past. However, GenG clearly doesn't have that sort of identity. They don't have a mould that they want to keep. Even now, we clearly just remember them for their cracked aim rather than their play style or anything. They have shown that they can play slow which can be seen on maps like ascent and they can also play quick like they did against Sen on split in the upper finals and they literally fought against Prx aggression with aggression of their own and won it. It feels weird that a top pacific team doesn't have a distinct style that they will always follow but maybe this is the way because they can't be figured out like other pacific teams in the past.

the only way we can make pacific win a BO5 if BOTH teams in the grand final are pacific. Personally it sucks for me because I've been a SEN fan since the sinatraa days, and I'm from South East Asia and also rooting for paper rex, so seeing them in that lower final at madrid was weird. The fact that they have gotten top 4 in 5 international tournaments and COULD'VE won 2 trophies is heartbreaking. Paper Rex need to know that their play style does work but only works to a certain amount of time. Thankfully I think they do know since they played more slower and default rounds, but They need to stop changing their comp in a BO5 grand final. Teams just won't get caught off guard with that and they will 100% adapt to prx's comp change.

It's interesting because DRX was known as the team so structured it hurt them, yet GenG reminds me more of NA, taking the best of that structure playstyle and mixing it with individual talents and unique agression (like PRX) to a good style. I think GenG lost not because of style but because of experience. In my eyes, they're trophy hopefuls this year

I was rooting for SEN vs PRX for finals, but when I watched GenG play vs Sen, I wanted them to win. GenG looks like the kind of team who can readily bounce back, do retakes, and have counter strats for plays. I've been watching APAC teams since 2022 and this team really surprised me. Maybe it's because the roster is completely new, and the other teams have not much content to study how GenG plays, but they definitely deserve to be one of the top teams right now. The very last map against Sen just showed they were losing hope in themselves, like they were tilted or smthng tho. So yeah, I completely agree on the experience part. Hopefully they get a trophy this year. Or anyone from APAC, at least.

Before asking why they haven’t won a tournament yet, why don’t we start with international bo5s.
Imo the biggest problem is that in a bo5, they always get figured out by the 3rd/4th set. Even with a 4-8 half, geng had momentum and looked to be able to comeback on split. But somewhere along the 2nd half, johnqt finally got the download on how geng read the game, and helped drag Sen across split and they used that momentum to roll thru icebox. There r many more examples of this across the few years of vct we’ve had

Honestly do think the way things are going, GenG have the highest shot at lifting a trophy for apac. As much as I want to believe in our boys in purple (prx) especially with jinggg back, I feel that teams in the higher echelons of vct are better suited to counter what they build their identity on, their W Gaming style. Teams like FNC, current-age SEN, and even GenG to a fault, are so well rounded when it comes to rotating around how they play, no matter what kind of pacing it facilitates.
but we'll see in the coming tournaments. There's so much young blood in the vct now more than ever just in madrid, so honestly so many teams have a chance at lifting the trophy.

Gotta remember that Pacific is a region never known for their FPS plays.
Back in CSGO, the best squad was Tyloo but even they couldn't make a playoffs of an international tournament.
We can't be basing the FPS accolades against the MOBAs/RTS accolades. Those have been born and bred into the system. Apparently when you walk into any PC bang in Korea, you only see League posters everywhere. There isn't a huge CS or Valorant as big as League or SC2 in there. This is the same basically in all the big countries in Pacific (China, Indonesia, Philippines etc.) Even MLBB is bigger than CS2.

And that's because of a lack of servers. CS initially started with servers in Asia in 2015, even then the servers were only in Singapore and India at first (making your example of Korea and Japan even less acceptable cause they never had the chance, CSGOs Seoul server was added only 2 years ago). Even then CSGOs asian servers faced a number of problems and they do so even now in CS2. Valorant on the other hand did from the start and that's why you hear and see more asian teams in VCT over CS tourneys as people are slowly making that transition over to valorant

  • @dragonclaw445

The challenge of Asia winning a VALORANT trophy often boils down to the regional competitive ecosystem. Historically, the development and support for esports infrastructure, including coaching, strategic analysis, and player development, have been more established in regions like North America, Europe and more recently Brazil. This foundation allows teams from these regions to innovate and adapt quickly to the evolving meta of the game. While Asia has a strong culture of gaming and immense talent, the disparity in resources dedicated to the professional development and support for teams can be a significant factor in their international performance. However, the gap is narrowing and it wouldn't be surprising to see Asian teams rise to the top in the near future.

You have no idea. Modern Esports literally started in an Asian country (Korea), and it also has far more attention over there than a lot of normal sports. T1 winning Worlds last year brought attention towards eSports in general that hadn't been seen in years. About the infrastructure part, you can say that about SEA, but in Korea and China they have actual eSports federations. That doesn't exist in any EU/NA country. Asian countries just historically suck at FPS games, Valo is the first actual FPS game they've legitimately done well in

I’d argue if geng went against a team other than sentinels or potentially stronger than sen i thimk theyd win. SEN are just too gritty. Theyre like the old memphis grizzlies who likes to grind it out in a close match. A team that would win many clutches. Thats because they had the hardest road to the championship. If it is any other team they would 100% win or even if its the old fnatic who sometimes also struggle mentally

they fall under pressure at the most crucial moment, GenG on round 5, prx, on the mid of tourney, while EMEA and NA thrive with it, thats the biggest factor, like they can defeat any EMEA and NA top team in a dominate way through the tourney, but once its on final, they choke

To be honest, out of all the APAC involved finals, only PRX Copenhagen was a legit favorite. GenG felt like a team that would succumb to experience and PRX champions felt like they were only lucky to beat EG with a miracle in the upper bracket. PRX copenhagen was the only one who lost because of too much overheat, especially in that last map at Breeze. I think they can bounce back though this year, considering that Jinggg is back. The day APAC wins is the day the world spun right. But asides that PRX copenhagen run, the rest of the finalists and podium APAC finishes succumbed to pressure.

Simple. Because westerners have freedom usage of gun and literally no gun laws. Therefore, they have plenty more time to practice shooting. On the contrary, most if not all Asian countries have extremely strict gun laws and civilians are not allowed to possess firearms.

Honestly, APAC (or Asia in general) look as hot as ever, with PRX having Jinggg again, GenG looking like a top 2 or 3 team in the world rn and even EDG doing really good (except for that loss against LOUD), they have a real shot at a Trophy. Especially with EMEA having no clear favourite (although KC, TH and FNC all having insane potential) and all of their top teams looking like REAL top teams but beatable. If however NA steps it up with more than just Sentinels and the likes of NRG, LOUD and LEV reach close to their potential then it's joever for APAC.

    • @cowsrcool

In theory, he was going to be gone for 2 years for military service. To explain the streaming, some people had the idea in their head that he would play the final and be shipped off the next day. As for coming back, he no longer has to do his military service for some undisclosed medical reason. People were rightfully upset, as jinggg is one of the best players in the world on the team that is the most fun to watch.

I think Paper Rex did fine mentally wise against FPX, but they lacked so much of the discipline to not be over agressive when they don't need to. Sucks that Jinggg was on his nerves during last year's Champions but maybe Paper Rex can win the tournament this year since Jinggg no longer has to serve the military

    • @octafish123
      @octafish123 2 месяца назад

Also, I don't think GenG will be the ones to make it, since Korean players in general tend to crumble when things don't go their way. Like, it seems like they focus too much on the possibility of losing rather than playing one round at a time as most experienced western teams do

Gen G can do it. PRX, if they don't change up their playstyle, are very unlikely to win an event.
Don't get me wrong I love them but W Gaming can only take us so far as it's heavily mechanics reliant and it's just natural that even beings like jinggg and forsaken can have an off day, especially with all the pressure of a grand final.
The enemy teams are not heavily mechanics reliant so they just diff them in gameplan.
