This one talks to my soul in a way I can neither adequately explain or voice. It is visceral.
I understand. Very difficult to describe.
Also the cadence reminds me of elephants marching...
Same. Chills....
Seeing WARDRUNA next month at Red Rocks. It will be a spiritual event for me.
Awesome! I wish you a great time!
Funeral song. The last part means " everything dies in the end except your reputation. it comes from Völuspá ( Valans spådom).
Thanks for sharing that. Happy to learn something new.
@@SaeedReacts. Love your reaction😊greetings from Iceland.
Wardruna made a song suring lockdown called Lyfabjerg, or healing mountain. It has wonderful, hopeful and powerful lyrics to it. Beautiful video as well. Much recommended.
Thanks for watching and the recommendation. Definitely want to explore more.
Love this one 😍 seen Aurora live twice, hopefully i will be able to go to Wardruna concert soon 🤞have a nice evening 😊🇳🇴
Fingers crossed you get to see them soon! 🤞
This is one great favorite❤!!! Gets through bone and hart. THANK YOU!
Amazing performance. Thanks for watching.
I absolutely love this reaction! Imagine being in that room. Just the thought of it leaves me breathless.
Thanks so much. Must be amazing seeing and hearing this live.
9:53 that might be the tagelharpe (norw/swed, Finnish: jouhikko) you hear. Its a two stringed lyre played with a bow. Think it is played by one of the guys standing almost still in the background.
Also: You are onto something when you say that this transports you ( a thousand years) back, but you can't say if it was like this.
Einar (singer/composer) is pretty clear that this is not viking music (as no-one really knows what that sounded like), but I guess it is a attemtp at makeing something like what it could have been. This is actually also one of the themes of this song (to recreate the lost songs).
Thanks for letting me know. Just so cool how they recreate these songs.
As Kvitrafn (Einar) has said, they don't want to re-create, they want to make new songs and music.
Personally I say this is as close to what we all "know" is Viking music from "back then".
Kvitrafn is blessed by the Gods, Odin loves a good story.
👍😍😍❤️
Love this😍
This song amongst others from Wardruna are played in the Vikings series. In one scene you can see Einar Selvik (vocalist/songwriter) standing on shore singing “Helvegen” while the vikings sails off to England👍
Hel (not Hell):
In Norse mythology, Hel is an underground realm of the dead where it was believed that most people ended up when they died. In Norse cosmology, north is the direction towards cold and death. Therefore, it is understandable that Hel is cold and intractable, and that the road there leads "north and down".
Hel is also the name of the ruler of the underworld. She is motherly and terrifying, and her skin is part blue-black like that of a corpse and part human-colored. She is very greedy and does not easily give up the dead who end up with her.
This song is sung in Norwegian, except for the last part (acapella) which is in old norse😊
Thanks for this info 🙏🏽❤️
One of the most mesmerizing live performances imo
Yes, Hel was of a goodess of dispair, and where she ruled it was all suffering. But she also kept dead people from coming back as evil spirits.
Thanks for sharing that.
Hel is simply the goddess that rules hel. As a Norse pagan, hel isn’t a place of suffering, obviously it’s not like Valhalla and it’s kinda dreary, but ur not suffering. She takes the “dishonorable dead”, which just means you didn’t die in battle
Hel is not a bad place, it's "just" the place every dead person that is not chosen by Odin for Valhall or Frøya for Fòlkvang go to.
You will meet your ancestors and it will be good.
There is a certain place in Hel for actual punishment, though, but that's for truly dishonorable people, not Vince Viking (the average man).
@@OriginalPuro That is incorrect. I am Norwegian and have studied norse mythology.
This is so cool. Thank you for a great reaction . Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
Epic music! Thanks for watching. Greetings from Belgium.
The lead singer of Warduna, Einar Selvik, is a deeply connected to his country's cultural and musical past. Highly recommend "Hertan" which just premiered last month and already has nearly a million views. Enjoyed your reaction.
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Will add it to my list.
The translation from the old tongue is not 100%, but good enough.
Never ceases to amaze me how close viking and German trad is to Irish trad music. Just goes to show, we're all cousins 😊 wardruna are amazing. If you like vikings, you'll also love Heilung, Skald, Omnia and Faun all great bands playing stuff inspired by old writings and on up to medieval times. I play their music and dance around in my viking dress 😂😂😂❤
Thanks for sharing these. Definitely want to hear some more. Love this type of music.
No wonder its simular. Norwegian vikings invaded Irland and left behind their culture and DNA..😉
@@SaeedReacts. Oh ho ho, you're in for a treat then. Sharpen your swords in preparation for battle 😂😂😂♥️
The Sami yoik can sound very similar to some Native American chants - there is more that's unites us than ever divides us!
@@grykarlsen5054 I know yeah. I'm from limerick which was one of their strongholds for the slave trade. We're all a cross between Spaniards and norse men here 😂♥️
⚡️epic⚡️ Thanks so much!!
Incredible performance. Thanks for watching.
You should do Gåte ulveham.I love this piece.❤
So she was a goodess of death. But when christianity was forced upon Norway, by Olav the holy, with mercenary armies paid for by the Vatican, Hel got a new meaning.
i saw in one of the other reactions, someone requested Blvck O - "Si Ingenting (REMIX)". You would love that one, the whole bergen rap is a rabbit hole you would appreciate
I really find this pretty cool ❤Einar have done some projects with a Sami epic treasure of our,Mari Boine. Thank for the reaction and feedback on our Norwegian background ❤
Love this kind of music. Thank you for watching. Have a great day.
Einar Selvik is the male singer from Wardruna......he wrote this as a way to bring historical feelings and beliefs to a modern audience......"Helvegen" is the road to Hel (NOT the Christian HELL)....only Viking warriors who died in battle went to Valhalla, other deceased Norse went to Hel after passing.....kind of like Christian Purgatory, I understand......Einar reminds us that death is inevitable, but we should remember and honor those who went before us......Einar has performed this with Eivor Palsdottir also, and their versions are just as magical as this performance with Aurora.........
Cool reaction, Saeed. There's gotta be some viking DNA in you somewhere I think. Sure is in me 😉 ROOTS right here. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Thanks! And there is, i might have mentioned it a video (or not cant remember 😅). A dna test once revealed 29% Scandinavian. So there ya have it 😄 Have a great day!
@@SaeedReacts. 🔥🔥🔥
Just beautiful 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 There is a video of Aroura and Wardruna singing this at the bottom of some massive cliffs. Unfortunately the audio isn't top notch, but the setting is awe inspiring 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
If you like this then I know you will love Heilung. A group that is very similar to Wardruna
This really is amazing. Gives me a feeling i can not describe.
Epic song, nice reaction too.
Amazing song. Thanks for watching.
Wardruna is a musical project based on Nordic paganism and Runes. The group has released two records, each thematizing eight of the runes. The second plate should complete the review of the runes. The third record has the working title Runaljod - Ragnarok. Wardruna has a collaboration with Viking museums to get as close to the music of the Vikings as possible. The music is played on instruments such as the hardanger fiddle, lur, kravik lyre, tegelharp, bone flutes etc. Parts of the music are recorded in nature or in places that are significant for the specific rune. Aurora gives Helvegen the right spice to take you back in time. Eivør also sang Helvegen together with Wadruna and the Danske Symphonie Orchestra. The video is available on YT.
Thanks for sharing this! Appreciate it.
Som of the information is on wikipedia 😉
They also use human bones for some of their instruments, HEL is where they go when they die, not the christen HELL
Thanks for letting me know! Appreciate that.

hey, hey! if you like these you might also like the band 'heilung'. they have a lot to react to, too.
Definitely want to check them out at some point.
@@SaeedReacts. you will not regret it. a good start might be 'in maidjan'.
nice one, but i have to say that i prefer the version with eivor. wardruna, a very good band. her latest song hertan is beautiful.
Didnt know they had one, thanks for letting me know.
@@SaeedReacts. she performed helvegen with einar selvik on the symphonic viking voyage. marvellous concert!
hertan is really beautiful. if you react to it, i can provide lyrics in norwegian/old norse and english side by side.
@@SaeedReacts. tould you in my comment.

You much reat to othan if u like this
The lyrics is emulating Havamal in the end. I do love your reactions. But, I have a tip. Shut up, a wee. Talk in the end. Not all the time.
Thanks for the tip, but i will keep doing the style of video's i enjoy. Some people enjoy it too and come back, some dont. Totally fine. Take care!
Great song and vibe. I especialy love start of the song with Aurora, transition into Wardruna vocalist voice (with changing instrument sounds). Rest of the song is all about amazing harmonies between Aurora ethereal voice and his more bas sounds. Nice horn in the middle too.
Have you seen "Vikings"? Wardruna have many of the songs in that show 😊
Thank you for the reaction. They are great!
I have only seen the first few episodes. I actually mentioned that in the next reaction. (Coming tomorrow) Thanks again, Helge!
Love Aurora ❤ True Artist
SPECTACULAR and INTERESTING (even if the subject is about death...)
Thats a huge turnaround of Einar from being a black metal drummer in Gorgoroth to sing this in Wardruna ❤
Yeah, this is a very cool performance! Aurora was already a fan of Warduna (and Nordic folk in general), and she fit right in on this collaboration. And I love how so many Warduna fans were introduced to Aurora, and so many Aurora fans were introduced to Wardruna, all because of this fantastic performance. That's how you want these things to work, spreading the love.
If you like being transported back in time, just wait till you check out Heilung!
Amazing collab. Definitely want to check out Heilung as well at some point.
My ex got me onto Wardruna and this song. The one good thing that came from that relationship😂
Focus on the positive. Thats the spirit 😅😄
Einar Selvik (the male singer) is a beast. He went from the heavy metal scene to forming Wardruna and making the most soulful music possible. You mentioned Vikings? He did the music for the TV show.
However, in Nordic history, the Vikings were a blip on the scale of a very long stretch of history. Not featured here, but the other singer from Wardruna, female vocalist Lindy Fay Hella, practices seiðr, Nordic witchcraft. That's how you know they're the real deal.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this info. Appreciate it. Definitely want to hear more of their music.
@@SaeedReacts. Lindy.has some fantastic music put by herself ❤️
Other norwegian gold voices to check out is Angelina Jordan and Sigrid ❤
I have 1 Sigrid reaction and a few Angelina Jordan reactions on the channel. Amazing!
Thank you !
Great reaction, thank you! This is the song I want to be played at my funeral. Einar Selvik (Wardruna) is the male singer who's voice touches my soul directly; he is my favourite male singer (as Floor Jansen is my favourite female singer, she has the same effect on me). Listen to "Lyfjaberg" and "Völuspa" by Wardruna, they are pure magic.
Its an amazing piece of music. Thanks for watching and sharing the recommendations!
Oh i love this with Aurora
I often listen to this one❤
You should also listen to heilung
Beautiful song and love this performance.
New sub. Loves ❤️
Thanks so much for subscribing! ❤️
❤
I saw Wardruna at Savonlinna opera fest. I had no idea what I was going for. I didn't know Wardruna beforehand. The opera fest takes place in Olavinlinna Castle, so it really fit the band. It was like we all were in a trance for an hour or two.
Thanks for sharing that and i can definitely feel that statement. I just watched a video with no clue what was about to happen. Seeing it live 🤯
