Hi Tony, I guess 5 years later to see this was worth it. My son lived in Darwin as a Navy person for about 20yrs. I have had many trips to Darwin & love it. Thank you for an excellent doco.
My grandfather John Roberts was a telegraphist in Darwin post office during the second world war and then he got sent to Brisbane and worked on the telex morsecoding machines on the telegraphy lines and he did went to Darwin 70th anniversary of bombing of darwin 1991 and 2005 and he died in 2010
The historic Kelpie dog mentioned at about 24mins is not at all a Kelpie. It is a Collie/Kelpie cross at best!!! Please compare the modern Kelpie that is used in this programme as a comparison!!
Mistakes on war memorial were normal in those days. The one in my town has a few according to a friend of mine who is in the local historical society. Records weren't always kept well and/or were handwritten, so misreadings occurred
My Nanna was there in Sydney when the Japanese attacked they sunk three submarines. I have all the paperwork from her that she’s left behind as she was a Morse code messenger it’s labelled top-secret so I’m not sure if I should have these documents or not
Tony omitted to say that it was not Japanese troops that landed and got to Katherine, they only landed in Western Australia, but it was the Japanese Air Force that went there and bombed the area. 'nuf sed.

Very interesting, very informative, a bit 'showy', but still good. Well done.
And now everyone is set to pay $12 a schooner......bet no one saw that coming...
I paid12 cents ( or 1/2 i.e. , 1 shilling and 2 pence) for my first middy back in1964 and that was good value. Not so today.
