i've always said that there was something oddly comforting about this game, and i think its because this was one of the first true horror games i was introduced to and i just fell in love with it, so thank you mark for being the true horror king
I see so many people complaining about this game in the comments. But really, what really really bothers me, is that the atmosphere is gone. It's not scary you say--well because Mark won't stop talking. *prepares for the fans to start bashing me all over the place* No, but really think about it. If you were alone, playing this at night, you wouldn't question the logic of this game. You'd be freaked the hell out. And I mean ALONE, alone. In your room. Lights off, no subscribers to talk to. Let's Players make games less scary because it feels like you have someone with you the entire time. If this was a quiet Let's Play like some I've seen around, it'd be scary as hell, because there is no commentary. If you want to be entertained, watch a Let's Play with Mark, Pewds, Yami, Jack, etc. But if you wanna be scared, watch an indie Let's Player who doesn't give commentary at all. It'd be like watching a really scary movie. I'm not hating. I LOVE Mark. But the feedback on just how NOT scary this game is, is just ridiculous.

Okay, so we start off with a detective, see an assassin with teleporting powers, pull a knife from a corpse, fail to outrun a guy with a heavy chainsaw, have a fun time sliding down a pool of blood, wade through the sewers, hide from a maniac that slashes everything in the room except for the hiding spot, sneak out of the maniac's house, outrun the fast chainsaw guy with a severely wounded leg, leap into an elevator, turn the game into an action movie, and then we end up in a hospital with a Silent Hill monster at the foot of the bed. ...MIND = BLOWN.
Weavile Force it's about a detective trying to solve a case, but ends up becoming a victim in what you're seeing. The game is, personally, a favorite of mine, flaws and all! Only thing I wish they improved on was the stealth mechanic or the amount of ammo given. Seriously, I tried to do it on normal at first, and I got NO ammo ever. I had to bump down to easy!

Oh god this is so unrealistic. If the protagonist was cut by the chainsaw at the beginning and then almost immediately fell into a pool of blood (literally), there'd be so many pathogens in it that pool, he'd die within minutes from septicemia if not hours. Good luck trying to get through *that* game with that time limit, keeping in mind you'd probably be comatose for the last 2 hours of your life!
this game is based around how that Hidden guy ( i like that name ) is creating this nightmare universe for the Detective. What would be the point in killing off your plaything straight away? I would keep him alive for a long time

From the start the game in and of itself is not based on realistic situations/circumstances, which is why they are entertaining to those who like most games, they are an escape from the real world. Though yes, in a real world situation, if you've been cut by a chainsaw that deep it would be bad to say the least, yet you wouldn't have to worry about dying from infection, blood loss would get you first.
I got outlast vibes too! When I watched you hide in the locker and the guy with the chainsaw burst through the door I thought of Chris walker (or as mark calls him “little piggy”) and I thought the guy in the locker was miles. So intriguing!❤️
5 years ago, I watched this entire series with my ex and played the game through with her (she couldn’t beat the bosses). It just trips me out how nostalgic a RUclips video series could be.
Okay, so revisiting this game because I fell in love with it after watching Mark play. And I'm not even 2 minutes in when I realized something about Joseph's voice actor that I never realized before. If any of you out there watched Naruto in english growing up.... You'll know.
I feel the main problem in this game is not all the crazy chainsaw wielding serial Killers...but the fact that after the main character slid down the blood slip-n'-slide of death he falls into i pool of blood and guts...his leg would be soooooo unbelievably infected, almost instantly he'd lose his ability to walk...in both legs...and his leg would have to be amputated...and if it wasn't...he'd die...thats the worst part about this situation...

Rewatching this annually. The Evil Within series of Mark is definitely one of my most memorable series of Mark has ever done. Definitely my favourite series of Mark. Nostalgic. A phenomenal game.

Rewatching this in 2021 is interesting. No wonder Mark used to lose his voice all the time. He spoke in announcer voice all the time! I'm so glad that he just speaks in his normal voice now. Of course better audio equipment allows him to. But I still love his play through of this game and how he would cal Joseph JoJo.
This game has certainly lived up to my expectations.The graphics and setting is very modern resi evil I hope the pace keeps up. The stealth sections look a little easier than I had hoped but other than that solid enough. I hope you keep going with this one youngster, By the way it's good to see you back on form and making longer lets plays Mark

So, it's Miami Vice, Outlast, Bane with a Chainsaw, Assassins Creed, Inception and 2012 all wrapped up into one... This looks to be a great game fitting for the season. I'm so thrilled to be following up on 2 awesome games this month - "Alien Isolation" and "The Evil Within" - all come from my favorite RUclipsr at the same time.
You were telling him to suck it up about his leg when he got hit with a chainsaw in his leg. I was also in a vertical slashing motion when he was hit in the back of the leg, so his tendons aren't in great shape. Literally the adrenaline was all that kept him from laying on the floor and dying.
Ya know what chainsaw guy reminds me of? Chainsaw guy: RAAAAAAAA!! That one-arm guy from how to train your dragon 2: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!! Chainsaw guy: eep •^•
And I'm not surprisingly disappointed by how lacking this game is in creating fear or an atmosphere. It's basically Hostel so far... People always forget to create TERROR in games. That horrifying line between Terrific and Terrible. It's weird, scary, wonderful and we just cannot decipher how exactly to feel about it and we can't help feeling repulsed and simultaneously enamored with it. Really... I find it extremely rare for any horror game to manage to have this even one or two times throughout the entire game - let alone knowing exactly how to utilize terror frequently and often enough to constantly make the player feel unnaturally scared but want to keep playing thanks to the insane amount of curiosity you build in the player as well. I wish somebody would come out with a horror game that utilized this as well as Team Silent did...
I've been playing this game a bit for myself, and I can honestly say that this game is not one of those real horror jumpscare things. This game is really not that well, but that's mainly because of my view on the aspect ration and FPS lock. The game in itself is well made, really good. It's not scary, but it makes you feel tense, it has a lot of intense and still horrifying moments where you might be running away, and you're really scared because of that twisted creature that's after you. I'm just super glad they're releasing a patch that fixes the aspect ratio and the FPS lock, but that shouldn't even have been in the game in the first place. But my opinion of this game: It's really amazing. Gorgeous, intense, still horrifying and kinda weird-ish. Story is lacking. It feels like a mixed story of Outlast with it's patients and a lot of popular games just mixed together. I would not recommend it for someone who's looking for horror and scares, but if you're up for a hard game with some really intense moments, get this on a cheap site or when it's on sale. Not really worth it at this price.

Well, looks like the main character is going to die a slow painful death (and not by the hands of some crazy guy)... a cut up leg is bad enough for an infection, but landing in a pool of blood with said open leg. There is no telling how many blood born pathogens he contracted... that sewer water didn't help lol

Nothing devs can put in a game or movie can ever live up to the kind of things your own mind can cook up when you don't know what you're dealing with. True horror comes from fear of the unknown.

I've rewatched this walkthrough an incredible number of times. starting from the age of 14, every year at least once. Every time my worldview changes and every time I catch myself thinking that I will never get tired of it. not a popular opinion, but it was this game that sank into my soul, I grew up on it, went through the most difficult and happiest times of my life. Now I'm 20 y.o., and maybe in another year, we'll see you here again :)

Oh god this is so unrealistic. If the protagonist was cut by the chainsaw at the beginning and then almost immediately fell into a pool of blood (literally), there'd be so many pathogens in it that pool, he'd die within minutes from septicemia if not hours. Good luck trying to get through *that* game with that time limit, keeping in mind you'd probably be comatose for the last 2 hours of your life!
Mark may be right, I think the protagonist can survive such horrendous wounds because this may be all in his mind.
Majority of horror games are unrealistic. So this is normal.
this game is based around how that Hidden guy ( i like that name ) is creating this nightmare universe for the Detective. What would be the point in killing off your plaything straight away? I would keep him alive for a long time

From the start the game in and of itself is not based on realistic situations/circumstances, which is why they are entertaining to those who like most games, they are an escape from the real world. Though yes, in a real world situation, if you've been cut by a chainsaw that deep it would be bad to say the least, yet you wouldn't have to worry about dying from infection, blood loss would get you first.

I feel the main problem in this game is not all the crazy chainsaw wielding serial Killers...but the fact that after the main character slid down the blood slip-n'-slide of death he falls into i pool of blood and guts...his leg would be soooooo unbelievably infected, almost instantly he'd lose his ability to walk...in both legs...and his leg would have to be amputated...and if it wasn't...he'd die...thats the worst part about this situation...
But the fact that's it's just manifestations of ruviks mind wouldn't allow real biological aspects to apply would it not?
And the elevator shut immediately after he got on which put him into safety from that chainsaw guy. Usually elevators gradually close not slam shut

Rewatching this annually. The Evil Within series of Mark is definitely one of my most memorable series of Mark has ever done. Definitely my favourite series of Mark. Nostalgic. A phenomenal game.

Rewatching this in 2021 is interesting. No wonder Mark used to lose his voice all the time. He spoke in announcer voice all the time! I'm so glad that he just speaks in his normal voice now. Of course better audio equipment allows him to. But I still love his play through of this game and how he would cal Joseph JoJo.

This game has certainly lived up to my expectations.The graphics and setting is very modern resi evil I hope the pace keeps up. The stealth sections look a little easier than I had hoped but other than that solid enough. SlightlyItchy I think pretty much the opposite, Alien Isolation had the potential to be amazing but 2 hours into the game before anything happens is not fun for me. I like this one because I played games like this in my teens way back in the nineties

Fr, I saw it one game pass and I had the faintest memory of him playing this. I’d rather watch him play than play myself.
He gets his leg sliced at by a chainsaw, and immediatly jumps into the sewer water right after that.
I know there wasn't much of a choise there, but that would most likely give you some nice infections.

You were telling him to suck it up about his leg when he got hit with a chainsaw in his leg. I was also in a vertical slashing motion when he was hit in the back of the leg, so his tendons aren't in great shape. Literally the adrenaline was all that kept him from laying on the floor and dying.
It ended up vertical for some reason, but then that is still really bad.

Nine years later and it is nostalgic and feels like fresh content.
And I'm not surprisingly disappointed by how lacking this game is in creating fear or an atmosphere. It's basically Hostel so far... People always forget to create TERROR in games. That horrifying line between Terrific and Terrible. It's weird, scary, wonderful and we just cannot decipher how exactly to feel about it and we can't help feeling repulsed and simultaneously enamored with it. Really... I find it extremely rare for any horror game to manage to have this even one or two times throughout the entire game - let alone knowing exactly how to utilize terror frequently and often enough to constantly make the player feel unnaturally scared but want to keep playing thanks to the insane amount of curiosity you build in the player as well.
I wish somebody would come out with a horror game that utilized this as well as Team Silent did...

I've been playing this game a bit for myself, and I can honestly say that this game is not one of those real horror jumpscare things. This game is really not that well, but that's mainly because of my view on the aspect ration and FPS lock. The game in itself is well made, really good. It's not scary, but it makes you feel tense, it has a lot of intense and still horrifying moments where you might be running away, and you're really scared because of that twisted creature that's after you. I'm just super glad they're releasing a patch that fixes the aspect ratio and the FPS lock, but that shouldn't even have been in the game in the first place.
But my opinion of this game: It's really amazing. Gorgeous, intense, still horrifying and kinda weird-ish. Story is lacking. It feels like a mixed story of Outlast with it's patients and a lot of popular games just mixed together. I would not recommend it for someone who's looking for horror and scares, but if you're up for a hard game with some really intense moments, get this on a cheap site or when it's on sale. Not really worth it at this price.

So many years later, I have rewatched this series 3 times.
Well, looks like the main character is going to die a slow painful death (and not by the hands of some crazy guy)... a cut up leg is bad enough for an infection, but landing in a pool of blood with said open leg. There is no telling how many blood born pathogens he contracted... that sewer water didn't help lol

I've rewatched this walkthrough an incredible number of times. starting from the age of 14, every year at least once. Every time my worldview changes and every time I catch myself thinking that I will never get tired of it. not a popular opinion, but it was this game that sank into my soul, I grew up on it, went through the most difficult and happiest times of my life. Now I'm 20 y.o., and maybe in another year, we'll see you here again :)
