went the other route..... that day was tuff so decided to take the other way..... but ill do the primitivo again just for the sake of gandes de salimas. what a wonderfull nice little town. and then up to the hospitales!!!
@@NickLivingLife Good question, it's lovely to see a different side to the day, as we had moments during the days when we walked solo, then together. This way I get to see what you were up to when I was elsewhere 😂
This is absolutely marvelous, maybe one of the best videos I've ever seen about the Ruta de los Hospitales! I'm planning to come back to the Primitivo for the 5th time next year, and this surely made me wanting time to go by even faster so that June 2025 is finally here! Cheers Nick and Buen Camino!
@@NickLivingLife As you may know, I had to stop the Frances in June at León due to injury and plan to return mid September to complete it. It’s my first time on the Frances and I’m torn between completing the normal Frances route from León or taking the Salvador then Primitivo. In some way I think I should be taking the traditional Frances route, so I can say I completed it, but the Primitivo looks so beautiful/quiet that I think I need to follow my heart and detour onto it. Maybe I’ll do both, complete the Frances then bus it back to León to do the San Salvador/Primitivo 😂
@grahamwallace that’s a tough decision Graham. There are some fantastic places after Leon (not the first day after though) on the Frances. Salvador and Primitivo have ludicrously incredible landscapes though with Salvador being almost maximum solitude followed by Primitivo which surprised me in that there was a community and infrastructure almost like the Frances. If you have the time do both, it was an easy and comfy bus from Santiago to Oviedo from the bus station. 😊
Great video. Was there last month and lucky enough to have great views (no low cloud or mist) though the wind at the top knocked you sideways and was freezing! Interesting to see the drone shots. Thanks Nick.
I’d have had no drone shots with wind like you had. I almost lost it a few days later when I took it higher than a ridge and straight into a wind current, it was a real battle trying to fly it back 😂 Would have been lovely to see some of the views you would have seen though. 😊😊
@@NickLivingLife Ouch, yes, true! They are spectacular views when you can launch it though. The views we had there made up for those lost earlier in the Norte on some of the coastal paths under grey skies and constant drizzle. The same wet muddy paths too - my waterproof socks were suddenly useful!
I’ll definitely go back in a few years and see if I get luckier with the weather. Probably Norte too actually to see if it looks any better in the sunshine. ☀️😊
Lovely video Nick, you have captured the essence of the Primitivo beautifully. I was there just a couple of weeks ago, stunning landscape, a Camino I’ll definitely do again.
@galtmann8482 I’ve just booked travel to arrive in St Jean to start walking around September 10th (ish). I don’t think I’ll have time to do the full Frances this time as I have also booked some time in Yosemite in October but it will be nice to walk some of my favourite parts again 😊
From Spain to California, wow! What made you consider Yosemite? Are you going with family or friends? I live west of Yosemite by the coast! Interesting!
@galtmann8482 I’ll be going with my friend. It’s been on both of our “bucket lists” for a long time. We spent a week in the Grand Canyon a few years ago and considered going back to Trans Catalina trail but Yosemite is calling us both for a short visit. We will obviously be tourists and do our usual South California and head up the PCH and visit San Francisco too if there is time. Only a short visit as I will have blown a lot of my travel budget for the year by then 😂
Looks like tons of tenting spots! ⛺. ❤

I imagine I’ll be revisiting this Camino many more times too. It’s really one of my absolute favourites 😊😊
Strait is the gate and narrow is the way - keep going Nick!!
Thanks mate. 😊😊
Thanks Nick. Perfect timing, so needed one of your videos. Well done.
I really enjoyed editing this one. All the best my friend 😊😊
Ugh! That water passing would have killed me. You’re a better man than me!
That was the last mud of the Camino …just like the hills, there’s “definitely” no more coming from now on 😂😂. Hope you are well my friend. 😊😊
Doing the Primitivo for the first time this Sept / October. Looking forward to tackling this stage :) Thanks!
You are going to love it. Buen Camino 😊😊
Some amazing footage you've captured here, mate. Very impressive, and also so good to see the route we walked and had so many laughs on.
Thanks mate. Does it feel odd seeing it from a different perspective or does it just blend in with what you remember? 😊

So kind of you my friend 😊.
Can’t wait to see where we accidentally meet up next 😂😂
great choice of music 💯
Thanks very much. ❤️😊
Nice video, Nick. I'm walking the Primitivo in two weeks. Looks like I might need some rainwear. Buen camino!
Fantastic! You will LOVE it. Buen Camino! 😊😊😊
Great - thank you. 😊
Thank you 😊😊😊
Thanks Nick for another beautiful video. Thank goodness you didn't have smell-a-vision for the part with the cows!!!
So true Anne. The it’s a smell I’d rather forget. I was being followed by flies in the afternoon trying to land on my shoes! 😂
😂😂😂
Beautiful footage Nick 👌
Hugs. 🤗 xxx
Looks like an amazing stage. Cheers Nick.
The middle 6 days of the 12 are all jaw droppingly beautiful. I’m so impressed with this route. 😊😊

Thank you. Amazing place isn’t it 😊It’s definitely up there as one of my top Camino routes. I’ll also be doing it again. 😊😊
Hi Nick👋 It is definitely primitivo! It's beautiful to see, but maybe a little too challenging for a first-timer. 😂
Some tough uphills Grace but certainly easier than Salvador and Vadinience. It’s all doable with a bit of training and taking it nice and easy 😊😊x
Perhaps after I finish the Camino Frances😊😍
