In today's video we are going to be combining a couple different techniques to create some Beautiful Butterflies! We are going to be PRESSING A MIRROR into Paint to make an incredibly intricate background and then we’re going to use the Swipe Technique to make some Butterflies!

Another stunning piece! It may be me but when I look at this painting it looks 3D to me. I think it's the way the wings of the butterflies came out. I love all shades of blue, so I am partial to this painting.

How beautiful. I prefer it with glass. I think because of the roughness of the fabric, the glass kind of softens it while still highlighting the contrast. Very cool. I really want to try something with this technique!

I know this isn’t a new video but I’m hoping you see this anyway. I just love it when you add the shadowing! It really brings the subject off the flat canvas imho. In this butterfly piece, if you had chosen to do it, where would you have shadowed the top 3/4 angled butterfly? Thank you for your videos so much. Watching them has helped me in ways you wouldn’t believe. I’ve had to give God 3 of my children & I lost joy. Watching your videos with your kind voice, I have begun painting and creating my own art again. Your videos are one of the biggest inspirations I’ve had. I’m grateful🥰
Dear Paula, your words touched me really deeply 🥹I can only thank God that you found some joy and peace watching my tutorials.. 🙌 Regarding the shadows- I always pick an imaginary spot for the source of light; so if my ‘sun’ were to be on the left, I’d have added shadows along the right edges of my butterfly. It doesn’t have to be super precise, of course 😜 You could always take a picture of your work and do a little mock-up if you are not sure; this way you won’t risk anything. AB this is my ALL time favorite. 🦋 Right before my mom passed 40 years ago. She told me each time you see a butterfly that will be me saying "hi" to you. So your painting brought me to tears it's so lovely. Thank you💞🦋💞
One question what is the name or number of the brush you used to paint the antenna's? It's so very thin.
You can find very thin brushes in the makeup department ... they are used for liquid eyeliner. Hope this helps.

Oh, my dear, I’m sorry about your Mum💙…but I do hope these butterflies brought you some happy memories as well…🥰 This brush is so old, there’s nothing left on the handle. I also made a similar one myself by cutting off most of the bristles and leaving just a few hairs😜

You are such a joy to watch. Your talents are amazing. Have you ever thought of doing your acrylic pouring on parchment paper? I do and when it is dry you can trace and cut on the parchment paper then peel of the parchment paper from the back?
