    These videos dude... Absolutely priceless! Besides being extremely thorough on how to mix, what to expect, comparing products using different tools etc - I really appreciate the pace which the information, walkthroughs, advice is conveyed - giving us the chance to keep up and follow every step of the process.. Seriously, watching these videos, especially when it's new series or alternative ways to use "older" products - makes you feel like you've already have the experience yourself... Yeah, I know how it sounds - it's nonetheless the truth =D.. Thx man!! Honestly - I've already tried the 4050 in pretty much every aspects of the paint process and It's definitely my "go to" replacing the 6000 "transparent sealer" in 8/10 cases.. Both are extremely versatile when painting or processing 1:1 props made of fiberglass or 3D print - printed in different types of filament.. Thx again =)

    Love the videos Chris
    I use an airbrush exclusively so I really enjoy the videos focused around using an airbrush. I’m a visual learner so these videos are very helpful. I would love to see the thickness or viscosity coming off the stir sticks for different applications. Again I’m a visual learner and I don’t have the ratio cups.
    Keep up the great work!

      Thanks, and a mixing cup isn't really required as our ratios are general starting points; adjusting viscosity so it works best for you (atomization & flow of paint) is what matters most.

    I love these videos. I have some Createx paints in my stash. I'm a model builder and want to experiment with them for modeling but I'd also like to just airbrush if I ever get my depression sorted out. The audio is hard to follow I hope you address that. Its hard to hear what you're saying. I tried Createx paints decades ago and had horrific luck with them. This was LONG before the days of RUclips and I didn't have Iwata airbrushes in those days. I had those horrific Aztec airbrushes that just didn't cut the mustard. NOW I have ALL Iwata plus one Grex brush in my stash. I'm gonna give these another go.

      Reverse painting a candy2o color will not produce as deep a finish as is created by top-coating the candy2o with a gloss clear, so our videos showing how to paint with candy2o can readily be translated to painting a polycarbonate RC body, ruclips.net/video/MIMlX78BdX4/видео.html. Make a few test pieces comparing the two. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  Год назад +1

      Yes, Createx paints can be mixed by weight. As with mixing by volume, the weights needn't be overly exacting, and may vary per color. What's most important is achieving best atomization, which may require an adjustment of the reduction / mix amounts depending upon spray gun set-up, technique, etc. Thank you.

    THank you sir for the demo - The info I am getting in Australia is to use a 3:1 reduction of UVLS:Candy + 10% reducer for airbrush and spray gun. Is there a reason for that difference being proposed or advice you would offer around this? TH2 is 0.6mm? I'm using 0.5mm eclipse or 1mm mini spray gun.

      Please follow the mix set-up and reduction guidelines set for in the candy2o tech data sheet, creatextech.com/pdf/tds/candy2o-TDS.pdf. We prefer 4050 6:1 candy2o. With a full-sized spray-gun, thinning with 4011 Reducer isn't required; for small spray-guns and airbrush, thin 5% -10% per volume with 4011 Reducer. With a TH2, maybe thin ! 5% per volume, however try first without thinning. Thank you.

    First and foremost, Thank you Chris for some of the best informative videos on the web. My question is regarding Kandy 2o and clear coats.
    "With my Iwata HP-CS I am trying to get that "deep,wet look" high gloss over Kandy 2o. I used 6013 silver sealer. Then 2 very light coats of 4004 transparent base. Then my kandy 2o. Now, all the local store had was 5604 gloss top coat. Should I order the 4050 ? Is it a higher gloss than 5604?
    Also, is my order of application sound correct?
    Sorry for long winded comments/questions. Thank you very much
    Jerry

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 года назад

      Hello. We appreciate your kind words about our videos. The 2 light coats of 4004 Transparent Base seem unnecessary, and if applied light and dry, could be creating unwanted texture. 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear is Createx's best gloss level clear (dries semi-gloss, sand & polish for a high gloss finish). 5604 Gloss Top-Coat is best for textile and light hobby, best not used for a gloss finish over candy2o. For more application information, please see the guides and tech data sheets at www.creatextech.com, and email us at info@createxcolors.com. Thank you.

      @@CreatexColors hello, I want to spray Candy2o Black 4664 on a clear plastic Gundam robot kit by Bandai I built so that it smokes lightly the clear plastic to desired effect while holding its clearness and still able to see details on inner frame . I noticed on this comment I wouldn’t be able to use the 4050 gloss clear cause I wouldn’t be able to sand and polish . Then I saw you can use 5604 as top coat but that it’s best not to be used as a gloss finish over candy20. I’m a bit confused now and want to know what I can do to get a gloss coat after.

    In your video you mix 1:1 with 4050, however on the Auto Air site they state
    "Airbrush: Any tip-size, 18 - 27 psi
    Add 4050 10% - 300% per vol., then
    thin with 4011 Reducer 5% - 10% + per vol.
    Spray Gun: 1.2 - 1.3mm, 18 - 22 psi
    Mix 4050 6:1 candy2o
    Thinning with 4011 Reducer is often not required."
    6 4050 to 1 2o is veru different to 1:1 !
    Which mix to use???

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 года назад +1

      Mix ratios are general guidelines. Airbrush: 4050 1:1 candy2o, thin with 4011 Reducer 5% - 10% per volume. Spray-gun: 4050 6:1 candy2o. Thinning with 4011 Reducer not required. Loving the Auto-Air paints & your informative videos! What PSI are you running with the airbrush?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 года назад +3

      PSI setting for airbrush vary as per technique, concentration of candy mix, and whats best for a particular airbrush (tip-size, capacity, etc.). Best is to spray at a pressure that finely atomizes the paint without causing dry spray. For candy2o this is ~ 18 - 25+ psi. For more information, please refer to the candy2o tech data sheet available as a PDF on www.candy2o.com. Thank you.

    Does the 4050 Leave Orange Peal since its thicker?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 года назад

      No, UVLS Clears, including 4050 + candy2o, are designed to self-level as they dry provided they're applied correctly; i.e. the spay gun is operated at the manufacturer's psi settings, the correct tip-size is used and application distance to substrate is within the spray gun's optimal fan pattern. Over-atomizing paint by applying at too high a psi or too much distance from the substrate creates texture in the finish. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 года назад

      For shelf life and proper storage, please refer to the technical data sheet for the particular color available at www.creatextech.com. In short, candy20 can be stored indefinitely after mixing with either 4030 or 4050 (provided its capped air tight unless pouring paint fro the bottle) but has a limited shelf life after thinning with 4011 Reducer. Thank you.

  • @tomfowler9577

    Chris, How thick is the 4030 and 4050 out of the bottle? I am having trouble getting it to spray out of a 0.5 tip airbrush. Does the 4030 16oz bottle have a mixing ball? How would I know if it froze in shipping?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 года назад

      4030 is ~ 300 mPas and 300 ~ 450 mPas. With thinning with 4011 Reducer, both will spray through a 0.5mm tip-sized airbrush. 4030 will require reduction ~ 10% per volume, and 4050 ~ 15% - 20% per volume. 4030 is much more airbrush friendly than UVLS Clears which work best with a spray-gun when used as a clear. Thank you.

    Whats the shelf life/pot life of a 1:1 candy2o and 4050 mix reduced 5-10% with 4012?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 года назад

      We do not recommend 4012 Reducer for use with candy2o as it promotes seeding/ coagulation of the dyes. Thin with 4011 Reducer only. Please refer to the candy2o tech data sheet available at www.candy2o.com for storage information. While we only recommend mixing and reducing candy2o intended for use within a 24-hour period, actual storage life can well exceed this when the paint is capped air-tight anytime other than actually pouring paint from the mixing cup, and kept away from direct light and stored ~ 50 - 80 deg. F. Thank you.

  • @luigiangelobuonarroti4110

    when I spray candy I get a lot of pooling. Like imagine you spray water on a glass surface how the water will collect into separate water drops. Do I need to add more 4050 to thicken it maybe? I counter this right now by spraying very light coats with the gun a little closer to the model, but ideally I'd like to spray a bigger surface area. Also when I sprayed 4053 over it to give it a glossy finish I did two light coats and then one final heavier coat and man it completely ruined it like it did the whole pooling thing again. But when I did the light coats of 4053 it wasn't looking glossy so it seems like I needed the heavier coat. Any ideas on how I can remedy this?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 года назад

      Please follow the mix ratios set forth in the candy2o tech sheet (www.creatextech.com) try mixing 4050 8:1 candy2o and do not reduce. Apply in medium coats with a 75/25 overlapping pattern. There’re many videos on this channel showing the proper technique. Also as referenced in the candy2o tech sheet is that 4053 is not recommended as a top coat for candy2o. We recommend a 2k urethane clear for top-coating candy2o. Thank you.

    Can these be used as an automotive applications? I read on one website that they were not lightfast

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 года назад

      Yes. No dye-based candy color or kolor is lightfast; a dye is going to fade faster as opposed to a pigment-based color such as a standard Wicked Color or Wicked Pearl & Metallic Color. Dyes will eventually fade (not as fast as a fluorescent color) but by painting to a fully sutured color with multiple coats and top-coated with a quality 2k urethane clear, candy2o, just like other kandy colors, are suitable for automotive refinishing. Createx candy2o have since they were first introduced over 6 years ago been used for complete vehicle paintjobs and have not faded. Thank you.

    I have quite a bit of Scenix SSR gloss Clear... is this the same thing as 4050? If this is essentially the same thing, I assume I would not use the crosslinker when using as a carrier for the candy? Thx.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 года назад +1

      UVLS Clears / 4050 Gloss is very much different compared with SSR Clears / SSR Gloss, both as a clear and in that SSR does not work as a carrier for candy2o nor direct to metal as are UVLS Clears. both UVLS Clears and SSR Clears (discontinued when SSR launched) are best tinned with 4011 Reducer. UVLS Clears are not activated with 4015/4016 Cross-Linker, SSR Clears also work best without the activation and a longer cure time. For more, please email us at info@createxcolors.com. Thank you.

      candy2o is best used when following our specs. 1) mix 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear 6:1 candy2o, thin (if required, often isn't) with 4011 Reducer, creatextech.com/pdf/tds/candy2o-TDS.pdf. Thank you.

    For painting fishing reels and fishing baits would you still need to use the 4030 or 4050?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  3 года назад

      While 4030 Balancing Clear still works well, we're now spec'ing 4050 UVLS Gloss as the best clear to add to Wicked Colors for hard-surface painting, such as fishing reels and lures. Createx Airbrush & Wicked Colors have better adhesion and durability compared to not using either. ello .. What sealant do you recommend to make the paintings last longer in the lures?

      The best top-coat clear for the most durable fishing lure is a catalyzed (2k) marine-grade, epoxy clear. Thank you.

      Yes, technically 4004 Transparent Base can be mixed with candy2o, however, to spray and use candy2o as intended, mix with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear or 4030 Balancing Clear. Thank you.

    There are just way too many combinations and ratios to confuse users in my opinion. Createx seems like a great product but it should be simplified.

      candy2o has a lot of versatility, hence a lot of mix possibilities. Createx Airbrush Colors is the paint line we recommend for newbie painters, createxairbrushcolors.com/. Thank you.
