No band like this band! Absolutely not! They rock hard and they will stun you!!!
San Diego! 1970 something! Giant was playing all of a sudden they stopped changed instruments and continue to amaze!
Dream of all Dreams...last show at the Roxy we got to go backstage and have a drink & smoke with Gary, John & Kerry. We showed them our custom made GG Note Pads & Tee Shirts we made in High School.
My all time favorite band...my very first concert in 1977 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. So when they came to the Roxy in 1980 they were amazed we'd go to every show. Such great memories of such a fabulous band!!!
While listening to this song n u m b e r o n e is so good after 40 years!
Much love to the mighty giant ❤❤❤
Free Hand tour, Academy of Music, NYC.....Oct 1975. Epic. My buddy Ray and I, a pair of hay seeds from the Jersey burbs, took the bus into the city. Between the amazing music we just experienced, and under the influence of someone's home made pharma procured in the men's room, we saw notes floating in the sky as we left the building, pushed along by the revery of the fellow concert goers. After awhile, we realized we were completely lost, and had not the capacity to navigate the NYC public transit system back to the Port Authority. We stumbled in to catch the last bus back home with seconds to spare, and not enough spare change left to pay the fair. The bus driver took pity, and waved us aboard. A night to remember!
I trekked in from Long Island, 16yrs old, along with my younger sister.
The one and only ❤❤❤
Love to my pal Gary!
Always loved the Giant, still binge on them from time to time. I saw them in Montreal during this time period, great show, the whole band hanging off the drum kit was a show stopper! Too bad I can't afford this vinyl but maybe one day on CD...
I saw them open for Yes in 1976 @ the Cow Palace near San Francisco. Magical night and my favorite double act concert.
best live band, ever...
For sure !
Saw them open for Jethro Tull as a young teen sat the Baltimore Civic Center.
Mind blown.
Greatest band ever live or studio
In my opinion the best progressive band ever, very unique!! Sadly I never saw them live... 😞
Great band, great music and a great sense of humor...I'm glad that these guys are still thriving..."live long and prosper" mates !!
Congratulations Gentle Giant!
We know the music, the boxset is a wonderful milestone, but it is not for the common man's wage packet.
Let's document some more stories on video, apparently there's still lots to tell.
I think John Weathers is the most passionate and emotionally involved band member at this moment.
I am truly glad to see Gary is still alive in good shape after he suddenly retired for health reasons and disappeared into the void (well at least for the fans).
Let's please sum up which GG members contributed to this boxset, it seems that Gary Green has been the custodian of recordings, pictures and props all these years, he even revived the music on stage with his band, Three Friends (with forever loyal drummer Malcolm Mortimore).
Three cheers for Gentle Giant!
Gentle Giant was a killer live act and hilarious to watch. Both Gary and John crazy rockers. Giant on the box DVD a must have.
Great Band
Absolutely love John and Gary!!
I love these blokes.
Legends.
I waaaant one!!
I adore them so much
Saw them 1978, Calderone Theatre…….Hempstead NY……Classic show, remember it like it was yesterday!
One correction...the first recording was taken from a concert on July 3rd 1976, not the 13th at the Calderone Theater, Hempstead, Long Island, which was broadcast for a local radio station.
Always LOVED your guitar playing Gary. Many thanks for all the joy that Gentle Giant have brought to me.
The Giant's box. Many thanks for the great music guys.
Seen GG live 3 times and the concert with Renaissance who opened for them is my favorite of all time the set was PLAYING THE FOOL with one song from the missing piece.
Also was at a 3 friends concert a few years back ruclips.net/video/LJ-piJwDJGs/видео.html Thanks for all the outstanding music!
Looks great that box set!
LOVED this! laugh out loud funny guys!. made my day!
🤘🤘🤘
Marvellous, would love this box but £450?!. Any chance of a cheaper CD box?
With all due respect where is the vinyl release of Civilian. It's now mid September and we're still waiting. Only the CD version and the MP3 appear to be available. Not that I would expect an answer. That would be too much to ask.
👌
I saw the show that they mention in Anaheim, Ca. It was the Relayer tour, so probably in 1975. The fans that were there for Frampton were booing GG during their performance. They cut the show short and left the stage. It was the saddest thing I have ever witnessed, being a huge fan of GG. There were more fans there for Yes, but they had the decency to not harass Frampton.
As a 15 year old I wish I could have seen there concerts but I’m a few decades too late
Edit: just bought free hand merch
Vinyl sucks, dumped mine 20 years ago. CD version please!
