    I heard Zappa's before I knew the Alman's did it. I thought it was great.

    I learned the other day that the song started as a slow kind of mournful blues, then Berry Oakley came up with the bass riff and worked it to the point where it was in 11 (9 + 2). I don't know offhand what the credits on the original album state but that's huge.

      You are very welcome. That's a good guess, but Zappa didn't start playing the Torture Never Stops until the following year, when he was on tour with Captain Beefheart.

    Duane was the one who introduced Whipping Post on Filmore East.
    Zappa was a bad dude!

    This is one of the best youtube rockumentaries that I have seen!
    (I admit I cried afew times when Dickie Betts died...Brothers and Sisters was the first album I ever owned)
