I think he has the ability to pick up and adapt to a game quicker than the usual. I'm personally the same with it. I thought slay the spire ISN'T my type of game but i gave it a shot because a friend of mine bought it couple years back as a christmas gift and within just 6 hours i already knew what to do and was CRAVING to learn more and more about the game. I was absolutely hooked to it!

I've already played StS for hundreds of hours so I'm far from lost, but I can tell that this would be _amazing_ for people who don't have the familiarity I have with this game. The highlighting of important decisions in particular is great!!

One thing the act 1 Guardian boss does that trips a lot of people up - it doesn't gain Thorns like everyone else, it just damages you when you play Attack cards. So stuff like Sword Boomerang only hits you once instead of three-four times like real thorns enemies would. Lots of people don't know this!

I loved slay the spire, another deckbuilder roguelike I enjoyed that had a ton of variety was Breach Wanderers. The unique character playstyles & 400+ cards made for a really fun game I played in a ton of different ways.
So usually games like this are perfect 2nd monitor fodder. This run specifically + your small edits that help understanding certain scenarios made me just watch it. Great content! Hope future StS videos will be like this.
I really like otz editing style. Very easy to understand things and also includes zoning and explanations over game mechanics for people who woulnt understand what’s going on immediately. Shows professionalism and overall care for the community watching. This is also shown heavily in his dbd videos where soemtimes even things like out of game callouts are explained or phrases that to a regular player would know but a newbie woulnt. I wish more content creators would do this
Have to point out that your video editing is very helpful, you can easily follow what you are talking about and have enough time to read what the relics and cards do bc you highlight them. Very nice

Lovely run you had, but I did want to let you know that "Sharp Hide", the defense mode passive of the first boss you faced, isn't the same as "Thorns". It deals 3 whenever you PLAY an attack, so Sword Boomerang+ would've only dealt 3 to you instead of the 4x3 Thorns would've done. Love watching you branch out to other games and I hope that the tip will help you in future runs!

a small tip when it comes to guardian, i noticed that you thought boomerang would trigger the playback damage more than once, this is not the case, guardian has a weird buff where its whenever you play an attack, not whenever you deal damage, so it wouldve only damaged once
I'm a huge fan of this type of game, I have 1.2K hours in Slay the Spire myself. If you like this, you may also like the game Arcanium. It doesn't have the same player base, but it's a very fun game as well.

I mean dont forget that technically DbD is/was Otz branching out. He started out with Souls games iirc. So really this is more of a return to variety stuff which I really appreciate cause I dont play DbD anymore and mostly just watch DbD videos and montages because of the person in them.

Since you like this game I think you’ll enjoy “ring of pain”. It’s also a card based rouge like however your enemies are the cards and the arena is in a circle meaning you orbit around the ring. There’s a lot of different ways to play it so maybe it will be worth trying out. Anyways take care otz
