- Young Madaminov Mukhiddin is born in 2006, and he is just an IM rated 2333 in blitz. But guess what, he played an amazing event and gained 177 Elo points. He played Magnus Carlsen in the 18th round of the event which speaks volumes of the young boy's talents!
Check out this game where Madaminov was so close to holding Magnus but in the end things went downhill for the youngster. How did that happen? Check out in the video.

If you just play the audio it’s a technically a coughing contest 😂
Bro... Are you good? This would've been considered some mental illness back in the days
Fighting till the endgame vs magnus with black in itself is a great achievement for a young player, conssidering the stakes and that it was blitz really commendable.
He was better till the end game too!
Are you serious? Magnus’ whole strategy for this game and in general for blitz is to stay solid and get to the endgame, getting an endgame against him isn’t impressive, it’s only impressive if you can hold it
Ikr?
@@KnightToRemember if it’s not impressive why don’t you compete next time? 😮
@@KnightToRemember abdusatturov and keymer didnt even get to endgame, wdym?
Madaminov was clearly trying his best not to be too excited seeing Magnus. I can see him about to let out a huge grin but had to keep his cool. Wholesome moment right there.
Madaminov played really well, Carlsen was playing near perfect and he still gave him a hard time. Props to him!
Magnus started with clear disadvantageous line so that the game is out of book from the beginning 😆 and yes Magnus plays like Magnus. The measuring scale is out of reach for the average plebs

They dont have xbox and playstation lol

what he says after that expression
@@atamizindeyiz963 "was good"
@@atamizindeyiz963 he says "bro wtf are you doing? how bad are u?"
In the end if you noticed both had bishops operating on white squares. All Magnus pawns were on dark squares so it can only be attacked by black king but Madaminov had his pawns on light squares which makes it easier for white king & bishop to attack.
Madaminov moved his queenside pawns from black to white squares, which was unforced and totally wrong. He was probably too nervous.
10:14 when Magnus realizes the blunder
Brutal. That kid outplayed Magnus in the beginning. 2 fantastic players. Magnus unstoppable in endgames with little time.
Lol no he did not. what a pitiful lie
not a single time the kid was a piece up against magnus in the beginning...how did he outplay? 🙄
It's always draw from beginning until the endgame. And we know Magnus is the king of endgame, magical endgame by Magnus 😆
Stop lying... the kid was outclassed by MC.
@@williamrobert9898 check the game on a computer and you will understand.
I’m new to chess, but I think I saw what happened at the end. The kid (who played well) got stuck in an endgame with a light square bishop when all of Magnus’s remaining pawns were on dark squares making the bishop virtually useless. Magnus then played some cat and mouse with the bishop, chasing it away from his pawns to push them up. Once Magnus got a pawn into the other guy’s territory and stopped his only hope to promote (and Magnus would’ve promoted much sooner) his opponent realized it and resigned.
Magnus says "sorry" 11:05
🤣
Like, sorry, it was an accident. I didn't mean to win
He's sorry because he knew it should be a draw.
@@DaCarnival It is only a draw when the game is over. As long as the game is not over, it is not a draw, but Magnus Carlsen against his prey.

He literally lost a game against Nepo in this exact tournament due to running out of time. He has also run out of time in other events.
Remember scc finals?
For me, this ability to win drawn endgames is the most impressive about Magnus. It didn't seem like he was playing a blitz game.
The way magnus adjust the board in three seconds
dude had no chance, Madaminov pawns were all on white squares and Magnus' bishop was on white. The opposite is not true, Madamaniv's bishop was pretty much useless.

@@bitsy_0523 he's sorry because the game should've been a draw at some point but magnus forced it into a win
@@hetaeramancer I think it was the other way around.. It was pretty even, but the kid was up on time so he wanted to push to win instead of offering a draw. Forgetting he's up against the endgame tactician.
I STG, as soon as it got to an endgame and Magnus was slightly better, I knew Magnus was gonna do his usual "squeezing water from stone" technique, I've seen in 1000 times from him, especially because although his opponent was playing extremely well this tournament, he was still 500 rating points lower, so I knew that endgame would be extremely hard for him, especially against Magnus. Props to Madaminov tho, he played extremely well the entire game!
When they exchanged queens I was "oh this kid is in trouble now". And when they exchanged rooks I was "game over kid, thanks for playing".
@@lazyatthedisco cringe
Actually it was a drawn position (by just moving back and forward with the bishop not a hard draw to spot) I think he figured it out but tried to win that's why he was mad.
First two minutes, Magnus is just thinking back of the 10,000 games he memorized and remembering how each line was played to get the easy win.
11:13 Magnus looking at him like you good bro? 👀😂🐐
Lool
He must've felt bad too for the kid 🤣 But what can you do its a competition
Lol yeah. I like how Magnus waved his hand, and the kid just looked at him with an unhappy look.
@@billj4525 He said sorry there. And Madaminov is more angry at himself, because he knew he should've held the draw and Carlsen just confirmed it by apologizing.
I see Two great chess players
Both played at an unbelieveable level here!
Amazing
He just sees things differently 🐐
He isnt human
He was so excited to play against Magnus, and he played well, pity he didn't reward himself at the end.
Clarity on endgames is one of the strongest requirements for Blitz 💯
Hope our Indians gives endgames more priority
Our Indians are overhyped, they have not performed well in any big event yet. Arjun completely capitutaled in blitz. Mark my words, none of our Indian youngsters are WC materials.
2:20 The moment were you think you can beat Magnus
9:37 After 7 minutes Magnus sends you back to Reality 😁😂
Exciting! Magnus Carlsen is a genius!
Completely drawn endgame however a few points worth mentioning. Subtle but known endgame technique made the position harder for Madaminov to play. 8:13 Magnus plays g5 fixing Madaminov's pawns on light squares making them a target and also ensuring his own pawns are all on dark squares going into this endgame. After Madaminov tries to relieve himself of this by going h6, Magnus reinforces it by going h4 making sure all of his pawns are on dark squares and can never be harassed by Madaminov's bishop. In this endgame Magnus ends up with his pawns on dark squares while Madaminov has all his pawns on light squares aka targets. This is a good game to illustrate how to manage pawns in a bishops of same color endgame. As I said before this was a more or less completely drawn endgame to begin with but was just harder for Madaminov to defend with such little time on the clock. You can see with Magnus' moves he's constantly picking at Madaminov's pawns forcing him to defend. Typical Magnus to press a 100% drawn endgame and force a win out of it. That's why Madaminov is so disappointed because a 2400 player should hold this type of position.
as much as i agree with all of what you have written down.. it never stops to amaze me how easy his opponents crumble under pressure. this is such a good example.. this thing about the pawns and the light squares is like 1000elo rating thing yet the youngster clearly falls for it.. i remember watching the live feed and hearing gm David.H pointing this out. He could have even sack a pawn and still get an easy draw out but he clearly went for the losing line maybe 1 out of 10 and he did lost in the end. Just making it clear, before you try to play Magnus you must know the table base chess in and out like playing the violin because Magnus knows this like that and can get a win if you make mistakes even playing blindfolded.
It is that important to know the strong draw points in every table base chess scenarios so you can get the damn draw playing him. ive seen this so many times its just sad how they end up doing it. Alireza did the same in a similar endgame this year over classical game..
@serafar it's called being human and time pressure...
Yeah, it was definitely a drawn endgame for a while, but i'm curious if it was still drawn later on. I didn't look at it with an engine but at 10:13 Ke6 seemed like a blunder that allowed Magnus to win. Magnus may still have been able to win, but if black were to play Bb3 or Be6 how would Magnus go about winning?
@@serafar Yeah I feel you. It does suck. Not sure why it happens. You always hear of Magnus doing it but it's still unbelievable. Just hold the position and you'll be fine. I mean hey grinding down a position is what makes him the World Champ so it is what it is. Hard to imagine when someone isn't there. I know very well the pressure when you are playing OTB it's way different than playing online

Magnus was looking away visualizing the Lines he remembered… Truly amazing
Hikaru is great at saving and holding losing positions and magnus is great at winning completely drawn positions
9:54 be6 followed by bd7, simple draw, i just didnt get why he tried ke6 in a drawn position and allowing magnus king to get inside, that is an automatic loss...but still kudos, this kid plays good...being magnus behind on time and having a drawn position against him is till an honor.
no, this is already a losing position, black cannot cope with two weaknesses on f7 and b5, there was a draw when the pawn was on b6
he's better than you, so shut up.
@@gustavmagnus6276 yes his blunder was advancing the pawns a and b to those light squares. Though he was already suffering with the f pawn
I actually was just thinking the same thing. Ke6 seemed like a blunder, but I didn't look at it with an engine. It seemed like Be6 of even Bb3 would have made it much more difficult for Magnus, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are ways to win anyway.
@@gustavmagnus6276 I was just looking at it myself and Ke6 did look like a blunder. It looked like it gave an immediate win to Magnus. Bb3 or Be6 seems like it would have made it harder for Magnus to infiltrate. I didn't look at it with an engine though. Do you know what the engine says, or how how Mangus would have gone about winning in the situation I mentioned. I know he was trying to put his opponent in a zugzwang situation where he wouldn't be able to protect his weak pawns, which is how he would have most likely won at some point.
How many dreams he has crushed. Unreal talent.
Nice game. Btw who won?

@@NeaEmrys yeah he indeed said 'sorry' as the game had been understandably a draw but magnus forced it into a win
Must be so nerve wrecking to be 500 points lower than your opponent and your opponent also happens to be the World Champion. Geez
Not 500, 421 at the time they met, final rating 2511, which is 341 lower than Carlsen's 2852. His FIDE rating was a bit outdated.
@@Atlas_Redux I see
I think the opposite. You are playing someone way out of your league. Nobody expects you to win or even come close so there would be no pressure at all.
and the GOAT.
after magnus takes the opposition with Kd4 at 9:40, it's already over, from that point onward while madaminov is thinking magnus in a few second already calculated all the endgame, you can read it on his face, body language and speed play, simply amazing.
the position was beautifully crafted by magnus. all his pieces on black all of madaminov's on white and they both have a white square'd bishop
If you touch a piece to adjust it on your turn, do you have to move that piece if it’s the first one you have touched?
pretty sure you need to call it
Sir, don't be mad, it's Magnus...
So wholesome how he was so excited to see and play Magnus lol
Madaminov is one of those eye readers. Always glancing at Magnus eyes to see where he's looking at the board. I've heard some players do that like in poker but whether it's effective is debatable.
A bad habit for sure
No, he's trying to fall in love with magnus
I have enjoyed watching this tournament, new at chess, just wondering that Arbiter, he seems to be the Head Arbiter, what's his name is he a retired Chess Master like these players?

No shame in losing to the best in the world. The kid has guts!
fighting till the lend and eventually beaten by the best is already a win by itself
Do they just quit when they know they can’t win? Cause I can’t see check mate.
the two white pawns are gonna become a queen really soon. After that it's gonna be check mate really soon. Players at this level know there is no point in playing on.
i just asking . why he played king e6 . at 10:15
How is it, that the clock counts up, when you do fast moves?
Playing Magnus itself is an achievement.. "Agony" in losing is like having very high hopes or being over confident. If you are confident and if you lost against Magnus, I am sure you won't feel "Agony", you may feel, you missed an opportunity to defeat one of best brains in the Chess History..

The title was so suitable, he felt the agony. In fact, he played a great game against Carlson.
I never played chess and just stumbled over a couple of videos and realized that once the game is over, they almost never look each other in the eyes. Why is that so?
Madaminov placed all his pawns on the same color as white's bishop. That's very nearly an assured loss, as Karpov found out against Kasparov in their famous last round game.
h5 ouch not necessary and why not f6! to get rid of f7 weakness
What a good game
Didn't Magnus touch the knight at 1:57?

Damn losing to Carlsen? This guy must be a total noob
Bruh carlsen is stronger and kid is not a noob the kid played well
Yeah he's a noob for sure. He needs a lot of work on his play. He made several obvious blunders. How could he lose to Carlsen especially with a good opening position?
Ouch. Black bishop was the only thing keeping Magnus's pawns from cruising. He never should have taken it. Magnus kept serving it up to him and finally kid took the bait.
Wasnt Magnus 1:56 touching the figure and not moving it an illegal move?
How did he lose. I’m confused.
He knew for several moves it was over. I like seeing someone pushing against the world champ, though!! Well done.
Why did Magnus say sorry at the end? Just to be nice or did something else happen during the game?

What is wrong with black’s clock. His timer didn’t start counting down until about 2:49 in the video. It kept resetting itself to 3:03?
What? This is blitz chess. You get extra time every move.
@@Atlas_Redux I don’t really know the rules for Blitz chess. If you could help teach me, that would be great. If you get extra time each move, so much so that the clock doesn’t even count down, what is the point of having a clock at all?
@@sam04019491 You get two seconds. If you're slower than two seconds, you lose time. A blitz round can technically last forever if you play really fast until game end rules kick in, which are two ways beside check mate or remis. 50 moves without capture and moving a pawn = draw or the standard same position 3 times = draw.
