  • In part 3, Group Technical Manager Niall Crosson talks about how Gutex Multitherm wood fibre boards eliminate thermal bridging caused by structural steel, and how the interlocking tongue & groove profile of the boards help wrap the building in a continuous insulation layer, ensuring there are no gaps.

    It would be nice to if this was more readily available in the U.S. My Dads house had a product that is similar from the about 1959. The only use a pressed fiber board for insullation.

    Could you do a video on how to handle attaching the cladding at exterior corners? Since with exterior insulation there's a portion where you have nothing to fasten to if you're just drilling into the insulation.

      Thanks for your comment. Battens fixed back to structural members are used for fixing the cladding. The same method is used for most external insulation systems with cladding.

    It seems to be a very good material. Can I use that board for ligth steel frame to? What kind of finish can I use? Can I use plaster?

    • @EcologicalBuildingSystems
      @EcologicalBuildingSystems  2 года назад

      Yes, it can be used outside a steel frame with a breather membrane such as Solitex Fronta WA. Then a batten can be placed outside this fixed back to the frame where ventilation must be included. This is followed by a cement, timber or steel cladding.

    Do you need to install the boards to match your stud centres? I see the board you installed was floating. I guess the thickness of the board and the tongue and groove will be enough to self support?

      On tongue & groove boards the joints do not need to coincide with a stud. The data sheet for each board provides guidance on maximum centres.

    If your go to analogy for insulation is a tea cozy, you might be Irish.

    Do you need to install a WRB wrap under or over the Wood Fiber panels for airtightness or moisture resistance?

    • @EcologicalBuildingSystems
      @EcologicalBuildingSystems  Год назад +1

      Airtightness and vapour control is attained with a certified airtight internal racking board (Finsa SuperPan VapourStop).
      A WRB is installed outside the Gutex wood fibre to protect the construction during the building phase and to limit thermal bypass over the lifetime of the building. In this case Pro Clima Solitex Adhero breathable “peel and stick” membrane is used.

    What do you cut it with

    • @EcologicalBuildingSystems
      @EcologicalBuildingSystems  Год назад

      Gutex wood fibre can be easily cut with a normal tools such as a hand saw or power tools. If no breather membrane will be used externally over the Multitherm, wherever it is cut to form butt joints, these must be primed with Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer then taped with 150mm Tescon Vana airtight tape to maintain the windtightness.
