Pahakkai or Pavakkai is AKA bitter gourd/bitter melon. It does take a learning curve to get to appreciate it's bitterness. Super healthy but not very much liked by a chunk of the population. It's a love-it or can't-stand-it types.. Hats off to you Giulia for eating it and not having a "big" reaction... Great video and darn it, I've eaten but still hungry now after seeing this video.

In looking at your older videos vs. latest videos, you have shown how addictive Indian food can be and that's also reflected in your appearance nowadays! Your prosperity in terms of your physical appearance is showing.

You spell those Tamil words "pagarkai" and "malli". And that makes you an authentic tamilian. Love to see you enjoying Tamilnadu dishes along with rice, sambar etc.the essential food items in Tamil Nadu. Actually, a meal (lunch) in Tamil Nadu consists the important item, without which a meal is incomplete. That is masal vada. Alongwith appalam, they should have served you with a masal Vada. But anyway, happy to see you enjoy the food. Be seeing you

Usually Tamil "Thali" contains many vegetable stew/fries alongside the obvious items (sambar, rasam, yoghurt, appalam, rice). In some family occausioins, we even have a tradition to cook at least different vegetable stews/fries along side the obvious items in "Tamil Full Meals". FYI Thali is a foreign word to us, we don't use it locally, its only north indian interpretation of our meals. We call what you ate a full meals. It might be in some restaurants they nowadays use the word THALI, But its purely north indian. Its recommended to begin with sweet on the banana leaf, this is because sweet helps to encourage hunger in tropical climate, like in cold, climates, soups warm the stomach and create hunger before the main course.

You are the second Italian in india to realize that Indian tomatoes are much better than the San Marzano tomatoes. Sarvana bhavan is the best chain also with locations in London and NYC and other capitals around the world. They are super
It’s correct that South Indian food should be eatne in a South Indian restaurant and North Indian food in a North Indian restaurant. Do i expect Italian pizza to taste better than the pizza in NYC? No. I don’t expect that it will be better.😊

Nice, that you are trying south Indian meals. But chapati with karakolambu😵‍💫.You are right about adding stuff to rice but the liquid and semi liquid ones like in this the sambar, rasam, karakulambu and koottu(the green one) are added to rice and the pavakai(bitter gourd), beetroot or appalam (papad) is taken a little for every bite. U need not get curd rice separately the meals come with unlimited rice (in most places) and a cup of curd.

There is science behind South Thali and order in which you eat them. Sambhar has lot of Lentils which gives Protein and Mixed with rice which gives Carbohydrates. Then next Rasam, the spices in Rasam will help in Smooth Digestion process.. Then next you have Curd rice, which basically helps cool down your body since digestion process heats your body.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra/TS make best rice and sambar/rasam but they are yet to learn how to make Roti/Chapati properly. Only in Karnataka you can find traditional Roti(Jowar)/Chapati cuisine and also south rice based cuisines. So I feel north south divide of India passes in the middle of Karnataka.
