Thanks mate just seen this video thanks for explaining the left right thing and I’m impressed by the way your welding etc looking forward to the next Chrs Malc uk 🇬🇧
Well done you’re doing a brilliant job there!! You remind me of myself at your age, you’re a rare breed these days. For not much over a grand you’ll have a fantastic daily rolling resto there! Nothing drives quite like a jag, they are such nice places to be in! 3.6 is a great engine and very reliable if cared for.
Me too!… I was you going say the same thing. Although I worked on cars like Fiat X1/9, Matra Bagheera and Lancia Montecarlo back in the mid to late 1980’s … fun time indeed 😝
@@jonathancollard3710 more exotic than me , I passed my test in 87 and cut my teeth on various Minis including a Clubman estate that I’d love to own now. Also a Herald, Spitfire and a gorgeous series 1 Renault 11 that I’d also love to own now!
Merry Christmas to you. You are doing a fantastic job there and your positive attitude is encouraging me to get my 70 year old backside out there and finish off my 1964 Jaguar MkII. Your videos are great. Thank you ,,,, John.
Regarding the burning oil in the engine compartment, my xj40 had the same problem, my cam cover gasket leaaked due to going btittle. Worth a look and cheap to fix at £15 for a new gask3t set.
Another great video. When you said,"There's no chance in hell I'm getting underneath without some massive axle stands" I breathed a huge sigh of relief! Merry Christmas, and I look forward to the next video.
My old XJS convertable got refused by the emergency pickup truck because his computer said it was 2.1 tons. It drives like a oil tanker, and spends a lot of time on a pickup truck, love it LOL
This is an excellent project car, albeit on that any sain person would run a mile from. You seem to have knowledge and wisdom beyond your years and balls of steel. Would love to have seen you rebuild those calipers, as new ones have significantly increased you budget in percentage terms and don't leave you room to escape if yo find something else expensive like head gasket or a trashed autobox. Love your get stuck in whatever attitude. Wishing you a very happy Christmas's and a lovely new year driving your faultless and fulfilling XJS.
Good videos and content, but would like to see these episodes a little longer, say 1 hour. These videos are good entertainment but are also used as a good reference for similar builds. Cheers
I'm really invested in the journey. Love your can-do attitude

Old Jags always look better than they are. Massive respect to you for taking this on! I've had a few over the years. So much car for so little money, but also so much car to keep maintained. You got the 3.6, so should be okay, the 5.3 V12 is something that would be so way beyond my skills. I hope you can do this without it costing you more than buying a runner. It's an old car - but my god - it's a beautiful thing - glad to see it being saved.
Another brilliant video of this brilliant project Harry. You are so patient and clear with the things you need to do. Never flustered or deterred. V impressive 👏👏👏🫡
O have a 1990 v 12 xjrs and my hat is off to you. They are great cars to drive but complex. The double skinning of sections is a real pain as they can rust.
Another great video, love your work and the can- do it attitude 😀 👍 these XJS'S are well worth saving! Can't wait to see her road worthy 😍 Merry Christmas 🎅 keep up the great work! 👍 😊
I'm really enjoying this series. You clearly know your stuff, so I hesitate to make a suggestion, but it looks like the windscreen is leaking/scuttle panel rusted out, which would account for the rusty gauge cluster and the steaming up after you washed it. Keep up the good work!
Smoke from exhaust manifold may be rocker cover gasket leaking and oil running down onto hot manifold. Congratulations on making a great series, and great progress on this lovely classic.
Great video with some good tips. Nicely done. Thanks for saving a wonderful classic. I love the xjs. £200 for calipers, rotors and pads seems like a steal.
So very well done as always, the welding looks great (I am no expert) but seems to be doing the job here, admire your attitude to this restoration AND your abilities! Keep up the great work and look forward to next instalment!
did no one ever train you in welding ? at 19.07 you have tacked onto a surface loaded with dirt /tar/paint , cleaning of the weld area will give a much better weld , on the inside as well , and it makes welding much easier and smoother
I give you lots of credit young man I'm a mechanic well was till I broke my back lol your doing well considering if I was you I'd spray everything u can see with wd40 give it a wipe over and it'll give the connections a little help I really hope the box is OK kepe up the good work fella
Hello, first time seeing you and this XJS. The paint did come out pretty nice. I do love the roundels on the fenders. I want to put some on my Spitfire so this gives me an idea. Happy Christmas, Happy New New Year.
Thank you in advance for key ring, I'm really intrigued as to how this classic comes out. I remember these cars from my younger years, and loved them. Its a jaaaaaaaag as Clarkson says
Got my Key ring yesterday so thanks again for that, when your giving away small cars for my girlfriend let me know, she needs one !! Only joking ... but thank you and looking forward to seeing your restoration on that classic jag..
I’ve noticed with British cars that have sat a while (Land Rover)… if you get them running, as you drive them all the twitchy electric stuff slowly starts to come back/work. Not always of course, but crap slowly really does come back.
Whenever I get under a car I slide the spare underneath, and if I take a wheel off I stack it on top of the spare. Might not save me if the car comes down, but it makes me feel better 😁 Impressed by the way you got stuck into that welding, that would have been my off-ramp. Happy Christmas, looking forward to the next episode 👍
A great project and so good to see a young enthusiast - and clearly a very capable one - bringing this lovely Xj-S back to life. Interesting too that the Aj16 4.0 Litre engine is fitted to what was originally an AJ6 3.6 litre car. Both engines are tremendous but you have a very interesting car there. Keep at it and keep us entertained. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I love your "doesn't look too bad" to what would have been a major catastrophe for me. Very cool how fast you solved the giant rust setback! Working on a Saab900 myself - same age. Funny to see that the tech used is about the same. The instrument panel is nearly the same - save for the cosmetics.
What a treat for Christmas! Thank you for another great video.Really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next episode.Merry Christmas and all the best
Brilliant video, just subscribed! Well worth saving the XJS and well done for persevering. Great skills and presentation. All the best for your Christmas and the new year 😎😎👍👍
Nice work young man, in years gone by in the 60s I was the welder in the family at mot time had no mig in those days it was all oxy acetylene bloody rough on your arms still have the scars lol keep it up nice to see a young person interested in preserving our heritage.
merry Christmas. take the wings off and check the upper wing support rail as they go pretty bad. also take the front wheel arch liners out and in front of the footwells you will find a drain bottle with foam under it which gets sopping wet and rots the top front of the sill . I had had one the same age. I also had injector issues. removed them and powered straight off the battery whilst squirting wd40 into them.. Good luck. I'm a fan of the xjs and xj
Nice work on that welding repair. I like your one repair at a time approach to fixing cars. Looking at the whole picture can be scary and result in the car being scrapped or parted out. It does help when it’s not your daily driver you’re working on, though. Had to call it time on my old CRV winter rig, unfortunately. Salt on the east coast Canadian roads has eaten through so many places underneath there’s not any good metal left to weld to. Merry Christmas and all the best for ‘25! 👍🏻
To stop bloom on the paint wash only in wash n wax and after cutting the paint wax the hell out of it, the paint needs to be sealed by wax/sealer. You’ll be surprised how much longer it will last, cutting back exposes soft paint which will bloom again without wax:ceramic protection. Good luck
Your a brave man taking on that beauty, but what a great car whatever classics people like! just to take that car out a few times a year to feel good is worth it to the buyer
You really need to take a screwdriver to the front subframe. They rot out for fun around the coil springs. Also give the rear radius arms and the floor mountings a good beasting.
Rock n roll mate, nice to see you going forward with this. I have had 8 of these over the years and only 40 lol, not the only classic! They are good fun when you know how. Merry xmas and happy new year to you and yours
I’m super invested in this now, loving these videos!
Thanks mate just seen this video thanks for explaining the left right thing and I’m impressed by the way your welding etc looking forward to the next Chrs Malc uk 🇬🇧
...the paint came up well!!

Do you know what? You’re doing great with this. Tidy, tasty welding job. Nice to see a grinder with the guard still in place. Loving this.
Merry Christmas to you. You are doing a fantastic job there and your positive attitude is encouraging me to get my 70 year old backside out there and finish off my 1964 Jaguar MkII. Your videos are great. Thank you ,,,, John.
Hope you have a good Christmas John, and you should, I bet that's a lovely car!
Love to see you young guys working on the old cars to keep them alive for the future
I totally agree. Even though that's pretty much a word-for-word quote from Herbert the P3rv3rt on Family Guy when he's looking at Chris Griffin.
Great video and project car. It’s refreshing to see a young guy with love for the old Jaaaags!
You are going well Mate
Regarding the burning oil in the engine compartment, my xj40 had the same problem, my cam cover gasket leaaked due to going btittle. Worth a look and cheap to fix at £15 for a new gask3t set.
Thanks Dave I've got one on order hopefully that sorts it out👍
Fantastic job. Well done. What an amazing car to look at. Same designer as the e type. Shame they were so poorly built. You have great skills.
Loving this project. Guy in a she'd projects are so much more relatable than spotless ones... 😊
Super well done young man! It is so refreshing to see the younger generation into and passionate about saving classics. Huge respect 👊
Another great video. When you said,"There's no chance in hell I'm getting underneath without some massive axle stands" I breathed a huge sigh of relief! Merry Christmas, and I look forward to the next video.
Thank you very much! 👍
Great video and well done. It is always good to see when one of these old cats gets saved. Regards.

You are doing some great work there ; well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you! I couldn't agree more 🤣 hopefully I'll have it roadworthy soon 🤞
Great job on the welding , loving the jag . Got a feeling your gonna spend a lot of time tinkering with this XJS , happy new year
Looking forward to it matey .......good luck .
Love this. This is old school stuff. Remember doing this kind of stuff when I was younger lol This is how you learn by your mistakes. Good luck mate.
Dude you are complete mentalist taking on that old Jag! Hope you can get it roadworthy!
Stumbled across this by accident just watched all 3 vids of the xjs! Great content m8 you've got my subscription 🎉
Another brilliant video of this brilliant project Harry. You are so patient and clear with the things you need to do. Never flustered or deterred. V impressive 👏👏👏🫡
Merry Christmas dude.
Impressive diagnostic and welding skills.
Will be watching more. Well done 👍
O have a 1990 v 12 xjrs and my hat is off to you. They are great cars to drive but complex. The double skinning of sections is a real pain as they can rust.
And they're a bastard if some idiot collides with you.
Ask me how I know 😞
I can't fault your commitment to the jag mate. This is turning into a cracking series of videos and I'm very much looking forward to the next one
Great job, I love your very thorough approach, nice to see that you are making progress. I'm looking forward to seeing you drive the lovely old Jag'.👍
Thank you very much, I'm also very much looking forward to being able to take it for a drive 👍
Another great video, love your work and the can- do it attitude 😀 👍 these XJS'S are well worth saving! Can't wait to see her road worthy 😍
Merry Christmas 🎅 keep up the great work! 👍 😊
Loving the jaaaaaag. The red is actually quite a Christmas colour. Can’t wait to see this on the road. And merry Xmas to the family and you.
Great series pal, xjs has always been one of my fav cars👍
You've created a new word, electronical, excellent.
Please keep on going with this car, you've got me hooked!
I love that you are persevering with this classic - well done

Thank you very much for this Malcolm, I have ordered a new gasket kit, will be going on this weekend 🤞
Great video with some good tips. Nicely done. Thanks for saving a wonderful classic. I love the xjs. £200 for calipers, rotors and pads seems like a steal.
Happy Christmas ! Well done so far, and already looking forward to the next episode.
Always loved the xjs. Beautiful cars, shame there's not many around these days
This series is bloody brilliant. It 's like sitting bedside of someone who is unwell and hoping they get better
Great video , little by little your getting the Jaguar back which is brilliant to watch. Very merry Christmas
So very well done as always, the welding looks great (I am no expert) but seems to be doing the job here, admire your attitude to this restoration AND your abilities!

Great job on the welding. An essential skill to have with a classic.

Really enjoying this project, lovely car 👏🏻👍🏻
Merry Christmas buddy. Love this channel. Thanks for your amazing work
Brilliant video. Well done you. Happy Christmas.
Well done , you have the patience of a saint looking forward to the next video and a Happy New Year
Thank you Barry, happy new year to you also
it would be a good idea too to replace the fuel lines/rubbers to the injectors. they go brittle and are prone to fires. more so on the V12's.

Salt. Car killer
Fair play, you carry on as you are and you'll do well. Good video can't wait for the next one
Impressive repair. Nothing seems to faze you.
Merry Christmas, mate! I'm enjoying your videos alot.
Keep it coming mate. Have a good Christmas and looking to more in 2025!
Merry Christmas! Great to see the old Jag getting closer to being back on the road.
You do not always make the right decisions but you certainly always get the job done!
Bloody good job with the welding.... that looks good. This is getting exciting....

Someone is fond of a treat! What a lot work !
You're getting there, Merry Christmas.
Great stuff. I love your pragmatic just get on with it approach. You found a problem and fixed it, no fuss. Have a great Christmas!
Another enjoyable episode. Keep it up.
I’m impressed with the car.
Smashing it dude! Merry Christmas 🤘🏻

What a nice Christmas morning to watch this new upload!
At least the red is nice and festive! When I saw the rust hole I thought you were going to pull the plug so really glad you didn't! Merry Christmas 🎄
Cool motor…. Love the key rings
Great project, it's good to see your not afraid of the complexity, good luck with going forwards.
Great work, keep us posted. Merry Christmas.
Well done mate .following this with great interest . Learning a bit too . Thanks 👍🏼
