Here's my take of the Kirk Hammett's solo from the song Ride the Lightning, composed by Metallica. Hope you enjoy !

Not sure if it is the creation of Kirk. Dave Mustaine also claims he contributed to the song

Honestly the best way to practice is as you say to play with him. I would get chills when I would play it perfect

This is very clean and precise.
I've played for a long time and I'm just now learning this (going on several weeks, same solo), and it's pushing me way past my limits.
There are a lot of good fundamentals. Section 3 combines 16th notes with triplets for instance..

Laura Perroni That was me as well. Granted I was unemployed for 8 months, so outside of looking for work, I busted my ass with 4 - 6 hours of practice daily, mainly learning songs that were hard as hell prior (it worked, helped my ear as well since I didn't rely on tabs much).

I like the warm, soft, muffled tone. Doesn’t grate the ear. But also sounds like coming from far away, a little drowned by other instruments. It's a different feeling.

I like putting on this video at 75% speed and drilling the solo, really helps. Then I find versions of the song that are faster (20% faster for example) and use 75% speed on that as well, really helps.

Your tuning is off compared to the album which is a little bit higher than the standard tuning
I just can't match that fast triad at the end. My fingers simply don't coordinate.
I honestly don't hold Hammett as high as the mainstream does (for me he was a "good" guitarist up until black album. And Ride the lighting was his best work. Just an opinion), but goddamn did he nail this solo...
I know man incredible writing on this one... First time I heard I was wtf this is hammett!??Not that he's not good, just this solo is very well structured compared to his others

@@chasecole4841 Yea he wrote what's called the spider chord riff and possibly the main riff. He also wrote a.clean riff on call of ktulu but every solo on the RTL album is Kirk's
@@deletedhero5579 Do you know if Ride the Lightning is the song he debuts the spider cord in? I know for a fact Kirk's solo is heavily influenced by Dave on The Three Horseman by Dave's The Mechanix. You can look up the very first demo's of TTH on the No Life 'Til Leather Album and hear the connection, then you can hear it in the main album. Crazy! You seem chill dude. I'm over the heated arguments and immature unwarranted name calling on the Internet. Bet if I met you and had this 2 minute conversation, you'd be normal as fuck, so I'll be normal as fuck here, too.
