Love Eugene Levy's voice and especially laugh in this.
Sounds like Brian Johns of Money Talks with Brian Johns.
The chalk flip at the end was the signature of Percy Saltzman, CBC-TV's first weather man (before anyone thought of weather girls) -- hugely popular!
Hey, I was just going to make the same comment. Definitely something for CBC-watching Canucks of a certain age.
"Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it " ??? SCTV correctly predicted the Weather Channel : )
My favorite TV series of all time--and this makes me so happy to watch!
More proof of why SCTV was consistently intelligent and hilarious at the same time.
This is BETTER than the weather channel... And no Jim Cantore!!
LOL who knew somebody would think..."hey a 24 Hr Weather Channel, that's a great idea".
This was comedic genius!!!
Levy's celebrity impressions are great. His original characters are even better.
The early days of The Weather Channel!
When Emily Vukovic was an intern.
Julio sure looks like Brian Johns from Money Talks...
Talks just like Brian .John's too
Short and sweet! Always one of my favourite sketches. And that is saying something!
How on Earth does this stuff age so well. I mean, besides the CG.
Local news is almost all weather. Sports casters are lucky to get a minute of air time.
Five seconds in I'm laughing at the cheesy music.
SCTV was a trip to watch
My favourite talk show! EVER! ❤️
And now we have the weather channel and jim cantore flexing. Genius!!
Weather or not you like that talk show, you should watch it because you'll learn something.
Absolutely brilliant.
The thing is I really wish this was an actual show.
There is a barber channel.
I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened by now.
It is. The weather network.
Canadians have it on as background or kitchen tvs. Lol
I had the same thought.
Aug, 2018 "Pray for the Santa Annas." We are a prayin'!
This is wonderful. Martin as Dr. George, famous L.A. weatherman.
Let It Snow is the theme song
Perini Scleroso could be the ahem, weather talk babe
Awesome!!!
God bless SCTV!
Now we have the Weather Channel.
I live with a meteorologist. I wish it was longer. Did no justice considering our porch or dinner talks about cloud shelves or the cool breeze before a downpour (outflow boundaries of a storm). Ahhh I think if everyone had true meteorologist in their houses they'd feel secure having a scientist telling them to run with beach equipment when necessary.
The Percy Saltsman chalk toss. Lol.
Wow. The start of the weather channel LOL
Probably could be a show on the Weather Channel.
I'm a bit surprised it isn't already. Of course, the late night talk show format is now going the way of the CRT.
This is way better than the Weather Channel.
its funny because now we have that.. bwahahaha
Wow my first time seeing this skit! Hilarious. Levys character here turns into Brian Johns money talks in later episodes
Pray for the Santa Annas - LOL OUT LOUD.
These guys were the masters of low key AND slapstick comedy.
Characters straight out of The Weather Channel.
the weather channel
+El Mel But different.
With more fear mongering...
This is so exciting!
Second City needs to get involved with producing more SCTV in Canada with a new troupe of up and comming talented comedians. SCTV is an Icon as important to comedy as Saturday Night Live. It should be continued as a venue for launching more talented comedy careers.
I would argue that it's far funnier, and far more timeless than SNL
@@rklewis2 I agree.
I really would watch this
The irony. I'm surprised the Weather Channel doesn't have a similar show.
Marty Short might have based his character off Dr. George Fischbeck in this segment.
Wouldn't doubt it, Joe and Eugene's anchor characters were based on real news anchors.
Everything is always Thursday at 9 on SCTV.
You can see the beginnings of Ed Grimley in there!
So funny. Love your videos.
We need to have all of SCTV shows available. Every one of them! Where can I find the missing ones?
Its funny because now WE HAVE THIS.
The Weather Channel debuted in 1982, what year was this sketch?
All I know is Gerry Todd beat MTV to the punch.
This aired December 6th 1983.
Excellent Suits! When are they coming back?
Hosted by Brian Johns....
SCTV sure had a lot of turnover in that Thursdays at 9 slot. It seems like every week they had a new show scheduled.
Gold !
Julio looks and talks like Brian Johns.
Wreckhouse brought down the house LOL
This is so funny.
I saw a RUclips channel like this, lol!
This show was metta before that was really a thing. A lot of the jokes are not funny in and of themselves (here, they clearly are not supposed to be) They are a parody of television in general, here satirizing not only weather reports but the inane talk show format. It was television ABOUT television.
Hon, we get it
@@jeniferjoseph9200 Ha!
Which season is this from?
would certainly beat coldburts ratings!
The weather Chanel? What?
What happened to that 8 inches you promised me?
🎅💭🎅💭🎅💭
WTH? 😂
Canned lafter
Placed in the wrong place as always in SCTV That was part of the charm the sound effects guy didn't get the jokes. And just put the laughter wherever.
It is part of the Gag, because all TV Shows used it.
Now days, IF you actually watch the weather channel, it's all about climate change. That's also a joke.
