Though there were mistakes, I think she should have got some reinforcing praise for her first reaction. She acted decisively and stood her ground. She didn't recoil and scream. She didn't stop when she was hit. She stayed in the fight and took him out. She said she didn't feel like she had control of the gun, but she had a strong, two handed grip and did well. I think she deserved to feel confident.

Purse carry always needs to include a trigger guard. Lipstick, ink pen, etc. can cause a negligent discharge. Tragically had a young father shot and killed here when the pistol he carried in the diaper bag went off as he set it down on the back of the open end of his SUV to change the baby's diaper.

I am not a lawyer. I don't believe the threat of immenent death was fully sufficient in scenario #2. His words were certainly threatening and frightening, but he didn't display any means (gun) before she shot him. Maybe he intended to "make her pay" by smacking her around in front of the house she evicted him from. I think she might be facing manslaughter or similar charges.

I agree they definitely should've taught about that in this. I get in a life-threatening situation, you can't really think of all the nuances in law... but John teaches about when to use ordinary force vs deadly force in ASP and I would've expected him to bring it up here.

My first thoughts as well. I would think the training should be guiding them a bit better on the legal concern side of this as well

To quote John: Nothing good happens at a second location.

@@tequilaog420 Yeah, that's one reason why I don't subscribe to ASP channel.
She never objected to following him, he never presented a weapon or threatened her life, there was no physical force. She said ok then turned and shot a man with his arms up, and John cheered at that. I really wish he would have stopped talking when she was talking to the 911 operator so that we could hear what she had to say about the incident.

Could she have used OC spray and run away?
(A part of me feels bad for Willis b/c he did even have his gun out the second time... gun was in his pants but would he have used it. 🤔)
*I'm new to self defense. My apologies if question about OC spray seems silly.
Thank you guys for helpful content.❤
