Sara!! You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that you liked I who have never known men. That's my favorite book of all time. I was so worried going into this video because this book means the world to me so needless to say I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. Also! I don't know if you know this but Jacqueline Harpman and her family were Holocaust survivors. They fled Europe and lived in Morocco for years and then moved back to Europe. Learning that put a whole new perspective on the book for me and it's a book that I still think about and talk about all the time.

I use 2 star ratings exactly how you described - I didn't enjoy it but I could see how others might, so I say keep going with your 2 stars!!! Save your 3 stars for books you actually liked (or were at least neutral on).

Okay girl, 2 things. Basing your ratings of books on what other people think of them isn't how it should work. Even if it's wildly popular and you don't like it, you should feel like rating it accurately for you! AND I personally hate 95% of lit fic but I read one last year by mistake and it was a 5 star read that I think was phenomenal! Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson. SOOOOOO good and the audio is perfection and it's heartwarming and funny. Definitely recommend.

Just started the video but paused to comment because I always have to prepare myself when a Booktuber have this all time favorite book on the cover of the video. I get so nervous to see if others like it.

I really don't read lit fic either, but I really enjoyed In Five Years by Rebecca Serle and The Wonder by Emma Donoghue. They are very different stories, but the writing is very real and has stayed with me. If you're looking for any Sci Fi, I just finished On Earth As It Is On Television and I really enjoyed it. It was kind of odd for the genre, because it focused on regular people and the aftermath of "the event" and not so much the scientists or government reaction. It's not a thriller, by any means, but I was invested.

So a lit fic one that you *might* like would be “where the forest meets the stars” by Glendy vanderah - it’s definitely got a mystery to it. I will say it’s been 4 years since I’ve read it so I’m pretty far removed from it, but i still say it’s one of my favorites.
