Hi Arash. I look forward most of all to your reviews as a fellow BIF photographer...I trust you more. Yes, the box, what's going on there!! I cancelled my A1 ii order and still use my A1, which I love. Pre-capture not a big deal for me and I have the A9iii already. I was looking forward to the customisable focus areas, AI and improved viewfinder, but I have to say, I was struggling after that. Body and back screen not a big deal for me. I never found/find the A1 autofocus poor, quite the reverse. Looking forward to your detailed review of the autofocus, which after all, is what we are interested in. I do think the price is high relative to some/most competitors.

I'm very much looking forward to your findings on buffer differences between the a1 and a1ii. I have an a1 and often have action that lasts longer than the buffer takes to fill and have to keep shooting even when the buffer is full. I saw reports that the buffer is bigger on the a1ii so even if it only lasts another 2 seconds that would be a significant and welcome improvement. I know it's hard to compare the a9iii with the resolution difference but when shooting 30fps the buffer lasts so long it really feels incredible. It's almost hard to go back to using the a1. But when looking at the photos afterwards I often miss the resolution of the a1. Maybe the a1ii will allow us to have the cake and eat some too, even if it's just one bite :)

A1 MK2 240 Frames (Raw) versus A1 MK1 155 Frames (Raw) it helps a little bit! It would have been nice to upgrade the compatibility with the new CFEXPRESS cards, too.

@@justinhatchvisuals Yeah I saw that number mentioned but even compressed raw I only ever see about 127 frames in the buffer at most on the MK1. We could assume ~50% increase based on that spec, but I'd like to see real world results.
I was really disappointed in the lack of CF4.0 support. That would have pushed me over the edge to upgrade. The a1ii seems like a great camera...but a bit too late. It already feels outdated imo. I'll still upgrade eventually but I'll be more excited to see what Sony does with the a1iii

@ChazLakinger same! I actually sold my A1 after the release of the A1 II and picked up an A9III instead, and I'm really loving it. If you don't crop heavily, it's not a bad option. I can say that my computer loves me more when I'm not uploading raw files from my A1, lol.

@@justinhatchvisuals I actually tried out an a9iii a couple weekends ago. I didn't expect to want one but I'm definitely going to end up buying one after that experience. I did miss the resolution of the a1 but the precapture and huge buffer (since half the MP) made it feel sooo smooth. It gets a lot of hate for having a base iso of 250 and "bad dynamic range/noise performance" but neither of those things really bothered me at all. Global shutter saved my butt taking photos at a concert, so I'm sold haha

Looking forward to your evaluation of the autofocus performance. I've only had the camera for a few days and I'm finding subject recognition to be better than that of the A1 for stationary subjects, but questionable for BIF.

Interesting observations from an owner of the A1 ii, many thanks for commenting on this, really helpful.
