I've got an '09 Carrera S PDK (in Porsche Racing Green Metallic). Its a very special car for all the reasons mentioned in the great PCA video above- As a daily driver sports car, the 997.2 does everything exceedingly well, great reliability, and all the horsepower you really need for the road!
Beautiful car! It's a really nice spec, too. I like that you spent the extra time to explore this car a little more. It didn't feel rushed like some of the other videos in the series.
Yes, beautiful car. We're planning to take the series in this longer-form direction in the near future. This is just a taste. Thanks for the suggestion!
The wheel in the video is OEM (so available from an OPC, say - it comes with the paddles); any shop familiar with 911s should be able to swap out the original.
The slow shifting may indicate a full PDK fluid change is needed. I’m planning to have it done on the next service on my 2010 Targa 4S. As far as paint, I had mine fully wrapped with Stek paint protection film and ceramic coating. Love that brown interior.
As the owner of a Nordic Gold 2009 Carrera S I approve this video. With the exception of Black interior and a manual I have the same spec (exhaust, lsd, etc.). I doubt I'll ever sell that car.
Question, but first to say this was an excellent review Damon! … VERY well done for the short time you have, AND Wow Nordic Gold is probably the ONLY color would trade my Aqua Blue (997.2 GT3) for!! (but ai believe there is only 1 of those in the world, Lol). Simply gorgeous. Question: there is a high pitched whine during the video, was that coming thru the speakers? (cuz sometimes when I’m using Waze, or Scenic App for tours, I occasionally hear that too (& I know it’s not my 3.8 Mezger).
Without digging too far into research material, we do know that Tiptronic-equipped 997.1s had the center radiator. Also, some markets where there are hotter temps year-round received the center radiator. And, of course, the GT models received the center radiator.
Hoping you can recommend a 911 for me to purchase. I have about 75k to spend. I have previously owner 2007 911 manual and a 2012 911 pdk. I should have never sold my 2012. Also is s version worth the extra money?
Hmm, $75k is a great budget, & you have tons of options on model selection. But I would suspect you should supply a lot more info on how you want to use the car. Will it be a weekend only, fair weather tour / cruising car? If so, will you drive it hard, or 60%? (you enjoyed both manual & PDK), Will it see autoX or track time? … or more C&C? … this it seems hard to recommend your next car
I’m laughing that this guy acts like a PDK is a novelty in a Porsche. I’ve driven my 2010 over 111,000 miles and it’s nearly exactly equipped except GT silver over Carrera red. It’s by no means an “automatic”. The ZF8 of today of “todays cars” has just caught up with this transmission’s shift times. You manual purists who think you’re better than everyone else baffle me. If you prefer a manual that’s fine, but most of you can’t even heel/toe on track.
Damon enjoyed this transmission, but was just noting that it's not quite as sharp and quick-shifting as today's PDK. And he agrees that this first-gen PDK does feel a lot like today's ZF 8-speed auto - in a good way - and that automatic's have only just started to catch up. This PDK has the ability to shift really quickly in Sport and Sport Plus, but can slow it down in Normal mode and feel as nice as the ZF8.
So essentially, you objected to the mention of “automatic” & it set you off (probably due to past convo’s on manual-vs-PDK, that were less than enjoyable for you),… most times both sides end up settling on “it’s personal preference” just like options, colors, etc. I hope eventually this doesn’t upset you so much.
I also have a 2010 PDK and love it. Feels kinda similar to an automatic on the street. However, at the track PDK's ability to "auto-magically" downshift and place you right in the center of the power band while exiting corners is amazing witchcraft! Personally, I'm never go back to rowing my own gears.
Noted! Sometimes where and when we film isn't ideal, and this location was tough due to the lighting at the time... Wasn't able to take it elsewhere in the time we had.
BTW, I want to see this car, with the Terracotta interior. Has anyone seen one. I've only seen the Carrera GT ($1M car) with the aforementioned color-combo, which resides in Doha to my knowledge.
I just got a 09 911 Carrera S PDK. The diff between the tiptronic and PDK is massive. I love the PDK its really responsive and really impressive.

What a sweet car!! That paint and interior and the analog of 997 with the .2 upgrade. Chef's kiss 😘
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching.
Nordic Gold over Cocoa Brown gives me 911 1970s vibes, so cool! What shop did the awesome paddle conversion?
The wheel in the video is OEM (so available from an OPC, say - it comes with the paddles); any shop familiar with 911s should be able to swap out the original.
I did it, plug n play with a newer wheel.

PDK factory serviced @ 65K miles (says the owner's mechanic). 09 PDK was not the best.
Nice. If you're not doing a full-body wrap, then you just don't care. Even ceramic coating alone isn't enough.
Dealer serviced, not factory
Great car!! Love that color combination. This is the gen I want to get into once I'm over driving my Boxster.
Love that color. If I were to order a car with pts, this would be the color.

Beautiful car in a rare color. Great video.
Thanks!
Our pleasure! The owner ordered a great combo of paint color, interior color, and performance options. Very much a driver’s car.
Nice Review
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Informative and entertaining. Looking forward to your next one.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! You did a fantastic job!
Glad to hear to enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Oh my gosh that Nordic Gold ❤❤❤
Any upgrades to pdk to allow it to shift as fast as auto mode vs. manual mode, specifically on downshifts?
There are different PDK tunes available to mod
@@antonyvo4prez only Cobb that I know of , but doesn’t address this issue. What other calibrations available?
Can you guys at pca do 997.1 & 997.2 c2 vs c2s comparison?
Thanks for the idea. Noted.
Hey! Same as my car! But I am going to go with a carbon fiber flat bottom steering wheel. Great year! Future classic.
Is that the MY where P forgot to install a center radiator?

A good 911 type 997 is hard not to like .All said and done I will want a manual box in one.
What are the benefits of limited slip differential in a C2S? Also with Sports PASM is it lowered -20mm just like the 997.2 GTS? Thanks
@ 0:14 Which headlights are those? They look a lot different than my '09.
not sure what they are called, but they track with steering below ~ 25 mph
@@iamkleggo Ahhhh....that makes sense. The PDLS "Porsche Dynamic Light System".

I’d probably only put 2k miles a year on the car. Not pushing it to hard in nice south Florida weather
Great video! What road is that rod called?
Shifting is faster in Sport Plus vs being in just Sport FYI
Good to know.
I have a white 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S with only 15,900 miles on it, loaded with everything except the sunroof.
Been looking for this video. Would you recommend a tune to improve the shifting on the PDK? Also, how common is the LSD option on the 997 generation?
Same question for LSD. I think it’s rare especially on a C2S. It was more common on the GTS variant.
NORDIC GOLLLLLLD! Its right up there with Bahama Yellow for me :)
Surprise how livable the muffler sounds. Funny, he naturally went for the 3rd pedal. Nice colour combo. Coyote surprise is crazy.
Right on! Thanks for watching.
exhaust is center muffler delete and "gundo mod" on both cans = much better than stock

It is not.
Ha. My old stomping grounds. Looks like you started out at The Yellow Deli.
Happen to be for sale?
Nope.
Nope
I have a 2009 4S with 275,000 miles……it is my daily driver…….
Love it!
Keep driving!!
14 year old transmission is vintage?
Hard to believe right? Models over 10 years old enter the Porsche Classic portfolio.
14:50 -- Pick-up owners NEVER know how to park their trucks. They're the biggest joke on the road after Jeep owners! 🤣
Completely understandable, but there's no way this was only one mile. ;)
Ha, you caught us! Hope the extra mile or two in this video was enjoyable.

Show the colors of the exterior and interior in the sun ! 🤦♂️

My 2011 Carrera S PDK shifts much faster that this car and in sport or sport plus like an F1.
I get it that PDK is a great automatic tranny, but manual is always the way to go with a 911
