Fantastic video series. Had you ever considered dual rear wheels to help with the weight, and top heavy tendencies. Would this incite additional taxes in Australia?
Thank you for taking us along with you on this adventure! It was like we were there with you, only without the campfire smoke. We have enough smoke here in California!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just have to say, that I felt happy seeing you and your wife enjoying your truck camper and the great outdoors in the Australian bush, I think its the happiest II have seen you on video. Simply brilliant
I watch many different touring, boating, and offroad travel shows on youtube, whether they are using trucks, motorcycles, catamarans, whatever. You're the only one that captures those moments when you're out on the road/trail and you notice the little details within the area you are in. There's something mesmerizing about stopping in the middle of nowhere and just listening to the world turn. There's really nothing like it. Its the reason why I love camping in the wild. You become connected to the Earth for that evening.
You should do more trips with Gwen. She is such an amazing person. So lively and still has the child like charm. Perfect couple you two make. Loving your videos mate.
Andrew, there's only one problem I have with your videos: I _have_ to watch them. They're so much fun and so well made that when one pops, I drop everything to watch. The problem is that right now, while I'm watching this, I'm _not_ out in the driveway sorting out an issue with the headlights on the jeep. I'm not out driving the backcountry of northern Idaho. You are a scourge upon my progress, but I love you for it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The discussion you both had about the layout of the kitchen and placement of things was INVALUABLE insight. Thank you to you both for entertaining me for the 32 minutes and 4 seconds of this video.
Vehicles and overlanding aside. I am coming to learn that the people close to you ( family and friends) are very important olin helping you achieve anything. Personally I really appreciate that my wife is also my business partner, even though our tiny enterprise does not qualify to be an actual establishment. But I appreciate talking to her and sharing my passion and how her enthusiasm drives me to not just work harder but also enjoy my work. Happy family, happy life 😊
Been a fan for over a year now. I watch the 26min videos easily. Watching you and your wife engage and enjoy sharing your love for 4x4s and overlanding...that’s what it’s about man.🇳🇦
Your happiness is infectious. I smile from ear to ear after watching you guys. Gwynn is a breath of fresh air..looking forward to many more videos. Keep up the great work Andrew you inspire us all. Thank you.
Really enjoying the videos, its lovely to have Gwyneth involved, keeps conversation nice and natural and it feels more like we are with you, than you narrating in post. Looking forward to your cliffhanger going up that hill!
Andrew, I mentioned in your previous vehicle weight episode, have you considered using the already free and available watermaker on your Landcruiser? Since you've concluded an AC is an indispensable piece of kit on the LC, you should tap into that. It would save you carrying tons of water, or at least a hundred kg on an extended trip. I've successfully used the condensation water for up to 6 weeks at a time, and only carried drinking water. I would not recommend drinking it, but it is otherwise very clean, odorless water that can be safely used for cooking, washing, showering, dishes etc. All I used was a modified wiper fluid container installed under the drain outlet and the smallest available marine bilge pump with float switch to pump the produce water back into my 40 ltr water tank tank at rates of between 5 and 15 ltr an hour depending on time of the day, humidity and whether you use the AC on recycling or fresh air mode. Another way around would be with a reservoir with an electronic low level alarm. The level signal can be used to trigger a small pump (with or without delay timer) to start pumping. Heck even get a tank with high and low level alarm to pump into the (now perhaps only 20 ltr) fresh water tank in between those two levels with a little Arduino chip if you wanna go all the way. An overflow was installed to deal with any surplus. I'm sure the German sparky in that workshop you did the electrics could knock one up for you. Another tip for extended remote trips: use one of those black rubberized waterproof roll up bags to do your laundry. Fill with a few liters of water, soap and your dirty nickers and tie it to your roof rack. After a few hours driving your laundry is done with free hot water using the suns rays.
12:33 "slightly nose heavy", i picked up on that Andrew! As an aeromodeller myself who's been building and flying model aircraft for over 10 years i noticed you slipped in thinking this LandCruiser might fly! The passion for flying never leaves you does it mate? But as you know it's much better to be nose heavy than tail heavy! Hahaha i had a chuckle at this and for me it was the highlight of this episode! Love the new beast mate, it's proving to be an excellent touring rig. You need to keep Gwynn on future episodes mate, it has added a whole different dynamic to your content! Absolutely love you both!
@@bosse641 You only see one side of the story. Everyone has ups n downs, not natural to be happy all the time. But agreed a nice couple on the face of it 👍
Bravo congratulations to you Andrew & Gwynn. Amazing Land Cruiser, holiday, excursion & more importantly your relationship. Sir you definitely picked a keeper. Gwynn is truly one of kind, her jokes, sarcasm, positive disposition, wit & brains keep you on your toes but she also keeps you grounded. She's an amazing misses. She can pick out a good log too..best wishes to you all. & stop babying that Land Cruiser. Keep the tires turning, beer cold, food hot & your wife warm !!!
Leatherman is one of my all-time favourite companies. I was fortunate to meet and have a chat with Tim Leatherman when he came out to the NAMPO show in South Africa. They had a booth where they repaired any broken product brought to them on-site, and I even got Tim to engrave his signature onto my Wave.
A couple of times, once at the water crossing and one other, a feeling hit me that I haven't felt since Africa, nothing else in the world mattered apart from the enjoyment of that moment. Need to get back
Bloody awesome guys, it was so enjoyable to be there with on this trip. great rig and we love the way you and the missus work out the setup . cant wait for the next upload Cheers From two West Aussies stuck in Saudi
Thanks so much for sharing your sojourn with us. We are currently in lockdown here in Melbourne Victoria and I am envious of your untethered freedom. Love the rig. I don't know that I could traverse those steps every time I wanted to go lie down. A good quality double swag or a couple of singles under an awning extension and on a ground sheet for me seems a little easier. Enjoy your journey. Looking forward to some forthcoming adventures. Safe travels!
Andrew you are an inspiration, and Gewnnie is amazing too, we definitely need more of her on the channel! Keep on rolling and keep the adventures coming! 👍🏽
I am so enjoying your videos. Our slide on camper - very similar to the Tommy - is still being built. We too love the remote areas of Australia and are looking forward to following your travels.
This is so good.. Moving to Queensland soon hopefully figuring how to get there due to the pandemic.. we have just bought our first 4x4 and are starting to mod it for these kind of trips together. We find your videos very inspiring and have learnt so much from all your playlists. Thank you so much!!
I’ve read just about all of the critics etc, but with this video I’m hoping it silences a lot of them. This vehicle is close to perfect for the trips you plan to do. Most importantly it allows you to travel comfortably for extended times with Gwynn, who is as big a character as you! I’m not a big 4wd adventure person but you’ve opened my eyes!
I love it all! I really like the paint job, especially on the camper hatches! And I have placed the Australian outback on my life to do list; gorgeous country!
When you get further North and its been raining beware going down a grade off through the table drain like you did. It can get instantly soft. Your truck has turned out brilliant👍 Good videos as always.
Hi...first time here. I loved what I saw and as a woman I did enjoy seeing gwyenn and listening to what she had to say. She is beautiful..such a lovely soul! Can't wait for more videos. Thank you both.
Wow, the timing! I've just watched Graham Cahill's post (4WD-24-7 channel) of his "AUSolo" trip to Murchison House Station in the Kalbarri area... it's staggering to me however that while Graham's video is western Australia too... it's still soooo far away from you guys!
Nice to see the rig hit the road.. Enjoy many trips.. its turned out all right, you will no doubt make changes once you live out of it for a few weeks.. love the title "No Harm in Trying"
I found your YT channel today. Wonderful. With 100,259 views in eleven days, I see you have a large and loyal viewership. I enjoyed watching for three reasons: (1) your journalistic eye and dialogue, (2) my unfamiliarity with Aussie territory and ways, (3) your ages and conversational topics are similar to mine. - Steven, Utah USA
I just love Gwynn's contribution to the video content. Please take her with you more often? She's adorable! Those rocks you held in your hand are seriously destructive to any tyre!
Love the videos Andrew, love the build aswell, a couple of things I reckon you should add to it to make the usability better, first put a safari snorkel on it and second, on your rear toolboxes, Run a bit of cable so that the toolboxes open at a 90 degree angle from the box itself and you can use it as a small table to put stuff on 👍👍
Exciting to see the vehicle used for its intended purpose, that its first fitout is under review :P and Gwynn is along for the ride. The dialogue is entertaining, scenary spectatular and I particularly like the contrast of the camper side door on black and the map. Different perspectives is interesting; the fridge is integral to our breakfast, lunch and dinner so co-locating is the way to go for us.
Congratulations you two !!! I bet that Sitting on that log for lunch and admiring everything around you paid all that time and effort on that wonderful work of art that you did on that Landcruiser 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Nice video. Very good point about the fridge- never really thought of it that way, I guess you always place it with the food because that’s what your mind associates it with
The rig is a propper overlander with everything you need. The beauty of Australia despite everything being closed it's such a big country there's always somewhere.
I loved it.. "Your better shots are always with the lens cap off" haha so true. It's great to see a video with just how it happens instead of semi-scripted like a lot of others are these days. A great video and the Vehicle looks schmick. I am taking notes as I am setting up my 80 series as a daily and for turning also, but no RTT.
One thing I really hate about your videos is that it is just to short. Can watch this for hours. Now the wait for the next video ☹ - checking everyday. You guys have such great energy together - love it ! Love the vehicle and setup ! Enjoy your trip !!

You've used the pic in a couple of your videos). I've also taken out the back seat and decked it out, that's where we've mounted our fridge, 60 litre ARB on the passenger side, maybe an idea you can use. Keep up the good work. Cheers

If it helps, and your missing a socket/tool, you could always mark the bolts with a paint pen or something to ensure they dont back off further. Also an easy check vs maybe needing to take out all the tools :).
Great video Andrew. Just thought I would add to your routine checks: check the 4 nuts that hold the steering arm on at the bottom of the swivel hub on each side. These are notorious for working loose on these causing the studs to snap. Your whole wheel and hub will fall off if this happens.
What an awesome camper, just found you and have been watching through some of your videos, like your style and wealth of knowledge, good luck on your adventures, will watch along , new sub, thanks Leigh.
I love my Leatherman Wave it must be 15 years old now I am guessing I would hate to have to replace it, but Toyota. Like the color and the build is pretty nice too. Good video.
