This is quite a beautiful chateau, not too big, more human but elegant proportions and the out buildings are quite lovely as well and in amazingly good condition. I can completely understand falling in love with it!
May I note the following? Donkeys require a varied and balanced diet. Feeding should consist of hay, straw, small amounts of grass and, if necessary, specialized donkey feed. Hay, in particular, is dried grass and contains a high concentration of fiber, which aids in digestion and promotes gut health. It also contains essential vitamins and minerals necessary for donkey health, such as vitamin A, vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium. Juicy grass can also have a higher concentration of sugar, which can lead to digestive issues in some donkeys, especially those at high risk of metabolic disorders such as laminitis. Therefore, it is recommended to only keep donkeys on grazed pastures. Donkeys also require access to clean water, which should be changed regularly.
The furniture is stunning!! I wish we had furniture like that in North America. Quality and craftsmanship can be found all over Europe and rarely found here. What a shame.
Those doors are so beautiful and it’s fantastic that they tried to keep them and didn’t just through them away and it’s so great that you will restore them. Both of you so such reverence and respect to the artefacts of the house and to your pets!!!🤗🤗🐈⬛🙏🚪🚪🐴🐴
When you have a large Chateau to fill then all usable free furniture, especially as beautiful as these pieces are are treasures indeed. They all definitely need treating for woodworm…even if there’s no sign of it or any active it’s always worth doing it as a preventative measure. All these pieces will come up beautifully with a lot of beeswax for starters, they’ve not been “ fed” for many decades I’d say, so rubbing lots and lots of beeswax into them will help put the moisture back into the wood and then they will really gleam when they get their final proper top coat of polishes. You have some fabulous pieces there all things which are useable and in keeping with the Chateau era. It’s going to be fabulous when it’s done….enjoy!
The armoires were wedding presents for a well-off bride and groom. Occasionally you see the year carved under the top thing and/ or the bride's and groom's initials. Near Chinon (vally of the Loire), a very wealthy bride received a Chapelle. Alas, she was only 21 when she died in her first childbirth. If you ever get to the area, it's in a tiny village called Champigny-sur-Veude. Also great place across from it for a picnic in front of a little lake--picnic tables included ! Absolutely sublime. It was recently owned by RICH RICHISSIME Americans who used it once or twice a year for lavish parties. Guess what ? They didn't have to renovate the château across the lawn from the chapel. It's one of only 12 SAINTE CHAPELLES in France, which means . . . can't remember what. La Sainte Chapelle down the street from Nôtre Dame is another. The idea of St. Luis, Luis 1X and his Bishop Suger after Louis returned from his first crusade. Have yoou wondered about the circumflex--the ^ over some letters ? It means that in earlier French, there was an S as in HOSTEL which became Hôtel. Some words which are the same in french and English like RESTAURANT have retained the S.
Beautiful house! Beautiful field! Beautiful animals and they all look so happy! And that is really nice! Great fun and wonderful to find the furniture left from the past....I just love that kind of thing happening, WOW!! Greetings from Memphis, Tennessee, USA
Don’t you love the original flat pack furniture, and bonus no Allen/Hex key required. The armoire might be enormous but the fact it all comes apart to make moving up tight stairs, small doorways etc is brilliant. The carvings, hinges & locks are often works of art in themselves.
@@OurFrenchChateau I live on the other side of the globe in Australia and brought an antique French armoire about 10yrs ago and was blown away by the fact it deconstructed for transport/moving. They're quite expensive buying here in Australia but so worth hunting down for a bit of character and bonus storage.
True to your word, Merci! for including all seven fur babies in this Volg! The Armoires are beautiful and will certainly add not only fuction but charming design to the guest bedrooms - totally love the paint color. Poor Lincoln may not get his 'Field of Dreams' but as you said, it is just nice to have them😃. A bientot!
Love the colour on the bedroom wall. The armoires are a great find. The other chateaus use woo hardener and wood filler to restore their windows and furniture. Check out Escape to the Dream, restoring the chateau
Watching you two is so relaxing. You both seem like warm and genuinely kind people. The furniture and the home are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Great finds in storage! Love how the donkeys are the most effective organic waste composting system ever lol! Such a lovely sanctuary for both animals and humans, so lovely to see summer i full swing as opposed to the nordic cold spring we have. ❤️
How wonderful to just stand in your field and enjoy space and quiet and green!!!..that's all you have to do with it...but grazing and hay are practical uses ...as well !love the armoires!! So useful in a beautiful way!!
They are made to be knocked down. There is probably a bonnet for the top. Some one really tried to save them. How wonderful you want to use them. I wanted to purchase my great-grandfather’s , late 1800’s farm house. It was in good condition and for sale when we bought our home. But it takes two , and good for you two. The house was torn down two years ago , and a new subdivision has taken it’s The donkeys are so cute.
What a charming chateau, I can see i am not the only one who loves the armoires. And the garden is huge and beautiful. I cannot wait to see what wonderful things you will do for the garden....xxx
I have had horses for 30 years. It may be possible your donkey has Cushing decease. It is a metabolic decease, one of the symptoms can be not shedding out or a long coat. It is very easy to diagnose with a simple blood test and is not expensive to treat. But if he does have Cushings you will want to know because they are more prone to laminitis. All the best.
They are all pretty armoire. Love the carvings!! Love how the feet on that one was-before the woodworms! That you know what to use to clear out the woodworms is cool. Oh, one that came with a key. I agree that the doors with the egg and darts in the middle of the design are the most pretty-have the lovely carvings with that at the center. Fun, fun, fun! I believe that you can find the matching foot-feet for the woodworms eatings--and it would sure help with the authenticity. Nevertheless, what a find! Terri from SC-USA
Those armoires are stunning! It’s wonderful that all the pieces are still there I love standing in fields, I love the wide open space and possibilities ❤️
I love the doors and can't wait to see them in home positions you put them on. The guest room looks fabulous, you're painting. The love you're showing your donkeys and cats areas are Fantastic!

@@OurFrenchChateau Hi it’s me again Judy. The house in Wisconsin (which I Lived in for two years was built in 1894.) A couple of things that were really scary for me I was going to hang lace window sheers that I just washed in my bedroom. Completely taken out of the dresser. My dog had his bed in front of that dresser NEVER slept again in his bed after that until I moved it. Mind you I had to sleep in this room. Another time I heard breaking glass in the middle of the night and when I got up to check nothing was broken. And nothing outside either. I thought how in the world could a big dresser drawer that was full of clothes and you had to wiggle to get it unlatched from the back could have gotten on the floor a few feet from the dresser. You are so lucky to find these treasures !! They are definitely 17th century
They are definitely end XVIII - XIX century. They are called "armoire normande". they are very common, every french familly had one or more.
You could put a pool in with pool house and make it look like it was part of the château or orangery or even a glass green house 🥰

How many multi family homes or neighborhoods could fit in that field?😂😂😂. I love that you love animals💗🌸💗

Sometimes when a donkey or a horse doesn't lose its winter coat, can be an indicator they need to be wormed.
