  • Working two Saturdays and a few evenings I finished an engine swap on our 2013 Dodge Journey R/T. The first startup did NOT go as planned!! Although, this swap went much better than I thought it would mostly because I took my time, didn't rush anything. Double, triple, and quadruple checked EVERYTHING as I went. That's the best advice I can give for anyone wanting to attempt the same job. This video is not a how to do the swap, but if you want some tips, drop me a comment below! This Journey is going up for sale as we already replaced it when the original engine failed. Been driving it to work the last few days, it sure is a hoot to drive.

    Good to see you back,it's been a while. I figured you were hunkering down
    with this covid thing.
    Still following Alex and Josh.
    You had SNOW, Alex said they had a smattering but it melted.
    Cheers,

    Wonderful to have you back sir, missed your adventures!
    Well that was indeed an exciting start. We changed converter belts and after that there's always that gut wrenching moment where you turn the ignition and see (hear) if you nailed it...or not. Yikes. Know the feeling 👍😁🇳🇱

    Design Engineers don't always consider serviceability as their priority. Edit: I should buy a lottery ticket ... what are the odds of you and Justin releasing YT videos, not only on the same day, but within an hour or two of each other!

    • @ParklandFilms
      @ParklandFilms  4 года назад +1

      Yes sometimes the engineers and bean counters don't care about servicing after the fact, unlike the old days, really too bad. Justin and I didn't plan that, I swear!! haha

    Ryan, how's the gas mileage? A recent study found that the average golfer walks about 900 miles per year. Another study found golfers drink on average 22 gallons of alcohol a year which means, on average, that golfers get about 41 miles/gallon. I almost feel like a hybrid.

    • @ParklandFilms
      @ParklandFilms  4 года назад

      Lol that's hilarious and pretty good mileage. Not sure of the fuel economy yet, been driving it a bit hard so the dash readout is showing not so great at the moment, my wife probably got better mileage haha.

    wowwwwwww bro this is the exact same issue that I am having with my 2015 Dodge Journey R/T. Did it sound like rockers at first?

    • @ParklandFilms
      @ParklandFilms  3 года назад +1

      It sure did. The sound was coming from the rear head, so I removed that valve cover and the rockers were perfectly fine. I still have the old engine out behind the garage, I might just pull the timing cover off one day and see how bad the carnage is. Hopefully yours is rockers and not the chains.

      Mine I had for 2 yrs and it’s got lifters ticking or rocker arms but idk what, I’m thinking abt doing a swap but I don’t really want the same engine bc the pentastar 3.6 is known for cam/lifter issues. Chewing up the cams. Idk if it’s possible even but is there upgraded engine to do this? Only has 130k miles on it…. It’s annoying.

    Hi I have a question 🙋‍♂️ where is the crankshaft sensor on this engine.I will really appreciate.I been looking for the sensor to change it on my 2012 dodge journery sxt Awd 3.6 and all the video that I find is only on 2.4

      Sorry, I don't remember where it is. Truth be told, I never replaced just that sensor, swapped the whole motor.

    Sadly, 2013 was a bad year for the Journey, prone to mechanical and electrical gremlin’s…..the Journey is also known as the Fiat Freemont, and that is offered with a Diesel Engine and a Manual Transmission (hence, your PCM thinking you had a Manual Trans).
    I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little upset that *WE* didn’t get that option 🤬

    • @ParklandFilms
      @ParklandFilms  2 года назад +1

      I did not know there was a Fiat version over the pond! I personally liked that vehicle, good power and economy, not too big, not too small. Would have kept it but had too many vehicles at the time.

      Agreed, we bought one new in 2017 and still have it (Crossroad AWD), it’s currently at 98,000km and we’ve only had 1 issue that was quickly resolved and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
      We have 4 kids, 2 dogs and live in Central Canada so it’s seen every type of road condition possible LOL I honestly have no complaints to report as it’s been a great vehicle 🤷🏼‍♂️
      And though it’s clearly not an SRT, it’s still no slouch when you put your foot down 😁
