What the channel owner didn't mention was what the significance of the meet up was. That was the Ceremony of the Word. The Officer of the guard and a small group of soldiers march from the jewel house to the Queen’s house. When they arrive they are met by the Chief Yeoman Warder, who hands over a small leather pouch containing the password for the next 24 hours. This password is then shared around all soldiers and residents of the Tower for their entry and exit after hours. The Word changes daily.
How interesting. I'm a Londoner ,born and bred within walking distance of the Tower where I spent so many childhood days on Tower beach (over 70 years ago) and I had no idea of this ceremony. Thank you for broadening my knowledge of my beloved home city.
@@margaretoconnor3687 Most welcome. Personally I'm Australian, but being a military brat all my life this fascinates me so I research it all. The ceremonies, the official youtube videos for Cavalry and Grenadiers...titled The Queen's Cavalry and Guarding the Queen. There are others but they are a wealth of information.
So interesting that, although they do this everyday, the officer proceeds with a detailed inspection whereupon he does find things to critique and, apparently, he and the warder have a nice little chat.
You might imagine that the largest bearskin plume would go to the officer(s), being senior in rank. But in the Guards they go to the most important soldiers, who keep the whole show on the road, the Sergeant(s), (and Colour Sgts & Warrant Officers) 😎
i served in the welsh guards . the best drill i ever seen was the soldiers of the tomb of the unknown soldier . in the united states . now that is perfection .

I don’t know about this regiment, but the Queens Company (now Kings Company) of the Grenadier Guards lowered the minimum height from 6’2” to 5’10” a while ago. I think there is still a preference for Guards be tall, but height restrictions are generally more fluid these days, depending on supply and demand.
No. No one was stunned. I froze the video and inspected everyone’s face. Not a trace of stunning to be seen. It’s all quite normal. Four hapless squaddies are frog-marched out, and an officer comes out to look for specks of dust and intimidate said squaddies, then goes back into office for a coffee. After that, the squaddies are made to stand still for a few hours by the gate or other strategic place and be stared at and photographed by Japanese tourists. So really, no stunning at all. All quite normal and it’s all done for fun. There is absolutely no point to it whatsoever and certainly, if someone was stunned by it all, they should seek medical advice. As a click bait, stunning is a very weak word to use, try saying “see streaker at 7.03”. That will guarantee you more clicks.
I regret adding to the viewing figures. I get sick of these sort of stupid posts just to get viewer figures.......STUNNED...... YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, etc.

Nobody does the military better than the UK.

The US's displays are no less beautiful and drilled to perfection, but they lack the same feeling of history.
Probably 90% of the crowd has never seen guards this close, let alone an Inspection Parade. 💂
God Bless Them !!!.👍👍👍
The grand old duke of York and it goes back centuries the Tower of London 💂♂💂♂💂♂💂♂.
I love watching the guards when they’ve are marching. So perfect.
I love the way the they they scoot their feet to feet in line!!!
Me too.
It's called dressing!
Nothing stunned over just normal guards doing their duties 🥱🥱🥱
I DO wish they would change their stupid headings.
What does "headings" mean 🤔 ? Thank you in advance for the response...

Your videos are extremely enjoyable and well made. The clickbait headlines however need to go.
Can you imagine the honor of being one of them?
I've always understood that army officers were knicknamed "Ruperts" and now I know why!
Ohhh I'm absolutely gob smacked 🤣🤣🤣

My respects to the guards from this Canadian.
It seems it would be unnerving to have superiors inspecting you like that.

What was given about the 8th minute to the tallest of those guards ? 🤔

Do you mean the PASSWORD in order to enter into the Tower ?????
I wonder WHO inspects HIM ?????
Personally the Inspection Gaurds Hat I think is just way to big !!! 😮
The only thing stunning was how Tall the Inspector was
He was an officer of the Irish Guards
Why is his hat so big ?
Did I miss something?
No just usual clickbait.

Nothing amazing, just a normal inspection
Always sloppy drill by the officers. He should be reminders that thigh parallel to the ground and not a cow kick. 😮

why is the inspection soldier with a double size bearskin? Must weigh so much
@#Wendy.
The inspecting soldier!
Is the officer of the Guard!

All Officers in the foot guards use a different bearskin than the rest of the troops.
He is in charge but.......
They are not made from BEAR skin these days.

The officer’s hat is way too tall. Almost looks like it is going to fall off.

Nice guards with their white belts. See the leader is wearing a reddish/purple belt though. Is he training for his black belt? lol

Alice Finn, "clickbait" refers to an inaccurate description at the beginning of a video, which deliberately attracts audience attention.
