Charlie Gracie's version was quickly overshadowed for popular audiences by Andy's version; among other re-dos copying people and songs by Andy was Anthony Newley's "Do You Mind" recording from 1959-1960. This Andy Williams/Archie Bleyer alternate sounds better than the the clapping-finger shapping version that was popular, although it takes some getting used to.

Many great talents early on were persuaded to perform material they disliked
Andy wasn’t alone but gimmicks like this sometimes worked.
In this case (butterfly) it was not only a gimmick song but a reluctant Andy was told to emulate his singing in the style of Elvis.
    He was in good company
Rosemary Clooney caved in and sang “come’on to my house”- fake Italian accent included from this Very Irish lady
I have audio and video of Sinatra telling audiences he hated
Strangers in the Night- on video as the orchestra is playing the very recognizable intro he turns to Vinnie Falco e and yells “this is the worst fucking song I ever recorded” as the audience breaks into applause as they recognize the intro
New York New York - just sick of it
    AND ( drumroll )
My Way - sick of it
I’ve written had THAT song was not written by Paul Anka but it was a popular melody written by (Google it) 2 French composers.
The sheet music names them as composers and at best says “ English translation by Paul Anka.
THAT whopper was the catalyst that revived Anna’s very dead career
    Oh well…. Showbiz
