Yes, same guitar Alex is playing on "96 Tears" at my house in Memphis. I bought it for $5 from a neighbor. Later I destroyed it onstage on a Cramps show at The Orpheum Theater @ Main & Beale St.
Great stuff Mr. Falco. Somewhere around 1986 I sat on a step with you outside the Trade Union Club in Sydney‘ after your gig and we talked about how I was moving to London and planning a US road trip. You were very gracious as I recall and I should look you up if ever I got to Memphis. Well I did eventually but thats another story.
Love this! What is the name of the music track at the beginniing and after 96 Tears (the instrumental)? It's fantastic to see this wonderful footage underlayed by the awesome music. Sounds like Alex C on guitar. edit - think I've found the answer, it's a version of Brazil(?)
So much has changed, but the “come to Jesus” house on Spottswood is still there (at least it was last year…with all the gentrification going on, I can’t swear to it).
Just discovered Marge Thrasher was a DJ on WHER - the all female radio station established by Sam Phillips. We should not 2nd guess Marge. Actually, she played us very well on her show acting as the straight woman to our art-damage thrust. 😮😮😮
@@TavFalcoFilm Wow. I did not know about her WHER gig. But she certainly was straight. I remember thinking at the time that she was the EveryMom, yelling at the garage, "What is that y'all are playing in there? That's not music! That's noise!"
@@kentalanlee Marge is become rather matronly, but I realize now she was a super pro broadcaster, and she touched on every point we identified ourselves with. Like in vaudeville comedy - we were daffy, and she was playing the straight shtick.

well... this guitar certainly had interesting history. And gone with a style
do you think there'll ever be a release of the 78-79 era panther burns works. Vernacular avant-garde at its finest.
It's coming.
@@TavFalcoFilm can't wait!
I sure do miss LX. That cat was like a human jukebox.
Alex was indeed. He could & sing anything. I miss him, too.

Wow, need I say, it's a small planet.
999999999666666 Tears - Alex Chilton - Memphis 1979 - This B&W video is fine, fine, fine.
Thanks Tav! Nice blend of audio-video…
I'm trying, thanks.
Woah!...this doozy is givin' me the cramps baby!!
Hope you're OK post-Cramps.
@@TavFalcoFilm Never better!

Glad you found this amusing. Aside from "96 Tears", all other music are renditions of "Brazil" by Panther Burns (Alex not playing on those).

A vanishing cultural landscape as well.
Sensational!
Thanks, again.

This guitar Alex is playing on 96 tears... is the same one Mr. Tav Falco played on Marge Thrasher???
Sure enuf.
Anybody familiar with this version of "Brazil"?
Chilton arranged it for us.
@@TavFalcoFilm is this the live version included on World We Knew (10/4/87)?
