I have the Great American Quilts 1987, 1988 & 1989. Lots of other quilt books from the 80's when I was quilting a lot. I've picked it back up again in the last 4 or 5 years and It's learniing new techniques and tools now.

Really enjoyed the book sharing! I'm reading one that I'm just loving and I think you may too. It's called A People and Their Quilts by John Rice Irwin. I've had it for years, and just started quilting in 2020 after making masks, so now I'm very interested in it. It's a history of quilting in America, and it's just beautiful. I look forward to curling up with it whenever I can. Enjoy your channel so much, recommended to me by a dear friend!

Our library has book sales but the quilt books are hard to come by. I am lucky to volunteer there & when they clear out the magazines they save all the quilting ones for me.

You should read the back covers and foreword or introduction if you can’t tell what a book is about. Ive never thought about it. I just pick up a book and can tell automatically what it is about. Id be years in a before otherwise.

You don’t have to read a quilting book, little text is sometimes that way for a reason. You train your eye to date quilts and fabrics from colors, designs, etc. i don’t know, I’m 55 so I guess I’ve had ore experience and that is what it takes sometimes.

Edyta Sitar is her name but her business and RUclips channel are called Laundry Basket Quilts. Good luck and happy quilt making!

You say people weren’t using scraps and making scrap quilts in the 1700’s, however, black men and women slaves were making scrap quilts during that era from the leftover fabric from making their masters’ fancy quilts. Please give credit where credit is due. Just like soul food came from having to eat the leftover parts of farm animals…scrap quilts evolved from the slaves forced to use leftovers for their own use.
