Good video. I found a heater like yours a few years ago and I think it's time to give it a go. It's pretty dirty though. Wick is stuck and I have to buy a new one. Your video will help me fix it right the first time. Thanks for the help. Ozark, Missouri, USA
It’s so important that the wick is well trimmed and cleaned regularly. Not once every 5yrs, you should never move a paraffin heater when it’s lit that is very dangerous. One other thing please don’t use your crusty underpants to clean with 💩🤨. 55yrs ago it was my job to clean the paraffin heater at home and I still do it to this day🇬🇧👍
I bought this heater, and cleaned it up, but it gives an uneven burn , so I bought a new wick, hoping this would change it but the same issue. Any ideas?
I have a perfection kerosene heater and the wick sleeve is broken. I wanted to replace it but can't get it to roll up al all because of the broken roller holes on the sleeve. What do you suggest?
It should come out. Remove the fuel tank from the heater, spray WD 40 between the wick and central air tube, get someone to hold it down on the ground firmly with both hands, use a pliers to grip wick and wick carrier , pull and twist.
Frequently these were used in winter and stored in summer with the fuel still in it and the fuel turns to gunk and acts like a glue. Be firm with it but be careful not to damage the cogs on the riser wheel.
Your video was really helpful. I just found a Valor 525-T in an antique shop, but it needs a bit of maintenance. Is there anywhere I can buy spareparts?
I don't know how to clean the glass so this is just what I would do. I would spray it with diluted sugar soap and use ash from my fireplace as grit. Spray a little sugar soap on the paper towel and dip the paper towel in the wood ash. Then scrub the glass. This works very well for my enclosed wood burning fireplace with glass on the door.
@outie555two England , if you look on the small emblem on the front , it says made in England, there is plenty of information on the nett about the company . They also burn oil and paraffin. Great old heater cook top.

That's good to hear and I'm sure you'll be able to get it up and running. Miles Stair's wicks is where I ordered my wick from online, if that helps.
Your in ozark? I'm in Seymour mo USA
Thanks for sharing 😊

I believe the wick should burn blue if it's in good condition & trimmed correctly.
No, these were not a blue flame heater.

I got my wicks online from the UK. There are a few online stores and parts might be the same as the American brand which is similar
How much did you pay at the antique store
There is a company in Uk that carry most things. It’s basecamp in Peterborough Uk. They ship worldwide.
I have a similar problem. The worse thing is I can not get a new wick in Thailand
Try basecamp Peterborough Uk.
