The first time that I ever seen Charlie was at Nashville's old fair park with Alice Cooper doing the annual "school's out" party. He was awesome and Uneasy Rider was a hit on the local WKDA FM 103 broadcasting it live. He was awesome! The second time was at The War Memorial Auditorium where parts of Fire On The Mountain was recorded. Many more appearances I attended were Vol Jams with Skynyrd reuniting at Municipal Auditorium and The Tribute Tour where all attendance records were set at Starwood Amphitheater in Antioch, TN. He sang Amazing Grace at Ronnie's Funeral after the planecrash that forever changed Southern Rock. I am so proud to still quote him saying ; "Ain't It Good To Be Alive and Be Here In Tennessee" Fly High Charlie, you're with them all now..🕊🙏💯🎸
Couldn’t agree more. Best of both worlds for our generation. Definition of fun, talent, decency & patriotism. This is the history of American music from the south. Boot stomping, kick-ass, southern rock & roll. Shed as many tears at his passing as I have for close friends and family.
Another home run RD! I can't remember if Long Haired Country Boy or Uneasy Rider was the first I heard of Charlie Daniels but they were right there together! A few buddies and I used to play for our shipmates on occasion when we were on deployment back in the '70s. Long Haired Country Boy was always part of our set and always well received.
Thanks Ferd!! I heard some guy doing a solo the other day at some beach bar and he did that song and the people still got off on it. Thanks for watching!
Great video about a great man. Thanks RD! I saw Charlie a few times in the 80s and 90s. He never disappointed. I’m also glad you took time to point out how truly generous a soul Charlie Daniels was. I still remember the first time I heard Devil Went Down to Georgia. They were playing the typical Oak Ridge Boys and Statler Brothers stuff, then those twin Les Pauls and that fiddle cranked out through the car speakers. I was like “WOW! They’re playing this on the country station!” 😁 His song In America was popular then too. I’ve always felt that song was much needed about that time.
I had the privilege of meeting Charlie Daniels and Willie Nelson after a concert at a park that is alongside Pearl Harbor when I was stationed there in the late seventies.
Brother, Im a Southerner to the core. We Rock,we boogie,we 2 step and love all our music. Between Memphis,Nashville ,Muscle Shoals and Austin. We have done a bang up job of putting words and sounds to the stories of our lives. Charlie was right in the middle of it all. Damn fine Southerner and Legend is not a strong enough word for the impact he has had. Thanks for the video.
Charlie Daniels is a American Treasure ! He has been for quite some time. The first time I had heard "Uneasy Rider" I was hooked ! I believe I was 13 or 14 years old. I got the chance to see him about a year late and, I was introduced to the Marshall Tucker Band. Back in those days you would see Bands that later on were Legendary ! You can go on forever on Charlie Daniels. Awesome Bandleader and Musician this subject can go on for another Million Miles ! Thank you !
In 2002 i was front row for 2 hour show. Afterwards I met him backstage and the whole band signed my CD "Road Dogs" which I just listen to and think Sidewinder is a musical masterpiece!!! RIP 🎶 CHARLIE DANIELS 🎶.
I Did Not Know That!👍👍seen CDB 'round 1980 1/2 the concert he played fiddle 2nd 1/2 guitar! when he walked out and picked up his fiddle i said o-no----but when he put it down I said o-wowww! THEN he picked up his guitar--AWESOME! Still in Saigon is Good! well as always have Your self a Good one!!
I seen the C.D.B several times. The last was at the Opryland in Nashville about for years back I think. Charlie was a great musician as well as a good man. Thanks for sharing.
@@larrystrick1862 Thanks Larry Glad you enjoyed it. I got another video coming out tomorrow or Monday. Depending on how much free time I have. That CDB and Rush concert was a real trip for sure!! Thanks for watching!
🔥🔥🔥 edit: he played here in New Bern, N.C. in '97 at the high school.i always loved his stuff.he was the only country singer I knew of that could also spin a great yarn.well, for a long time at least👍
Charley Daniels saved me from the worst mistake of my life. I college, a conservative church school, I was dafingthe prettiest girls on campus.I knew she was a little bit of a fanatic... BUT I had no clue she was a flipping lunatic. I asked out on a Valentines date, she accepted, so I planned a great date, featuring Good tickets to see Charlie Daniels Live. She was excited at first, had never been to a concert before. Then Day of the Concert she comes to my room and cancels out, why I asked? Some one told her Charlie Daniels Glorifies the Devil ins Music. Devil went down to Georgia was pure evil... and if I listened to that kid of filth she didnt want anything to do with me. Man that would have been a really Miserable relationship... I still like Devil went down to Georgia. the girl I havent seen in 40 years:)
I saw C.D B. A total of 7 times, every concert was always a good one. One great great man and a true patriot. Charlie loved us veterans. Thanks Charlie for the music you gave us all. Peace be with you.
Outstanding tribute. Thank you. Lucky enough to see CDB open for Skynyrd and Tucker at Winterland for Fire On The Mountain. Did a 'Volunteer' style jam with The MTB at the end. Sorta messy sounding but still great. I've been to alot of shows over the years but never saw 2 (!) complete bands on one stage like this. LHCB's last verse is one of the best ever...".;..I don't want much of nothing at all, but I will take another toke!" Priceless!! Night Rider had some great tracks, too. Funky Junkie and Franklin Limestone are faves but the whole album is great . The latter featured Tommy as singer and writer and the former as lead guitarist (i believe Charlie played slide here). I've jammed with this many times. Always knew Charlie was a good guy but never knew all he did for charity and his band mates. Thanks again for the memories.
I remember seeing the c. D. B. At winter land in s. F. The balking was closed Had two drummers n they rocked uneasy rider was his only hit then what a show those were the days may he rest in peace
well doc as always you have that understanding between artist and the person i think it should be charlie MERRICA daniels i was like you the first time i heard uneasy rider i was hooked i had just heard the song on the radio and i could not quit laughing
Yea rising/leo I don't like how youtube changed the handles around lol I get confused now with everyone... we gotta love old Charlie. Thanks for watching!!
I am disabled veteran I suffered a traumatic brain injury in September 2001. My mom and I were trying to figure out something for me to do after I got released from the VA when I didn't have to go to the VA. I saw him with Hank Jr and he blew mind he played the fiddle so I started playing it.
Good luck with your fiddle playing and thank you for serving our country. My dad and brother are both veterans. My Dad WW II my brother served in Nam. I wish you well!
@9:18 we get to see in the back ground the our beloved radio station K-SHE 95. I got an autograph from Charlie circa era 1981 . He was at the old K-SHE studios in Crestwood . Seen him many times . A true legend for his contribution to the music entertainment industry and life above all that and to the employment to his crew for many years . I will always be a fan of his art and great humanity gifts he shared with us and the world . If there was a human that deserves the highest award for contribution to us it is and was Charlie Daniels . Daniels never stopped giving even in the turbulent economic crisis in the US and world wide .
Charlie was a legend and an icon ! True American patriot ! He and his band were top musicians and songwriters

I remember hearing Uneasy Rider on the radio. I was about 14 years old.I bought the 45 and played it over and over. I always liked Charlie Daniels.
Long haired country boy is a anthem for a lot of 60/70's true rockers.
I had the privilege of meeting Charlie Daniels and Willie Nelson after a concert at a park that is alongside Pearl Harbor when I was stationed there in the late seventies.
charlie did a song called devil went down to georgia.

Great point of view on an American Icon who did bridge the gap in music.
