Your dogs are really cute!!
The second $30 dollar one where you thought it needed work was the first portrait that the artist had actually drawn themselves. The others before were all quick jobs in Photoshop. The $30 which impressed you (the one that came before the one you didn't like) was just using the artist brush in Photoshop which basically paints the picture for you in an artistic style. As an artist this video kind of breaks my heart because it shows that most people can't see the difference between a picture that requires a lot of time & skill to produce and a quick photo manipulation and filter in Photoshop.
So true. It's really depressing. People are very uneducated about the arts these days.
Its sad because most of these videos are like this because people literally dont know ..

Don’t worry there’s still quite a few of us who can tell. But, I definitely feel your pain. I don’t get it either, because to me it’s obvious which ones are high quality, and actually made by hand-and which ones are a cheap filter. And I’m not an artist. But, then again I’ve always been really into art so I know how it’s made.
Edit: But definitely this video proves that people who literally know nothing about how art is created should never be given a ton of money to spend on it. Basically never hire someone like that to buy an art piece for you. Because I did almost die inside when he said he would have been willing to pay hundreds of dollars for the one made with a filter.
Dude could have bought photoshop himself and done the exact same thing for much less.
He could so easily be scammed like heck.
As an "artist" you should know that half of what you said is either wrong or a lie. YOU can't even see the difference between CUT-OUT photos on a background, AI, and handmade art. Sorry to wake you up to reality, but Photoshop has been part of ART for over TWO DECADES, and not only does it require skill, it clearly requires more skills than you possess.
The problem is...the cheap ones are not "paintings". They're your photo, clipped and placed on backgrounds or predone torsos. The more expensive ones are actually painted by the artist's hand - which won't be hyper photo realistic. It's important to know if you want a filtered photo of your dog (which pretty much anyone can do, no talent required) or an actual PAINTING of your dog - which is a special talent and worth much more.

Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's actually painted. I can do the same things as the "expensive" ones in photoshop in an hour, yet it's still TALENT.
This video taught me that as an artist I don't actually need to draw because most people actually won't be able to tell the difference
Thats not right... Just because some people are bad doesn't mean you have to be aswell. Please do real art.
It’s kind of sad really. You have people doing real art that take hours or days to finish and are paid nothing, while some just slap a filter on and say good enough and slap on a $30 price tag

@@alyssajudges2019 frr, im 16 and currently have an etsy shop and i used to sell pet portraits. i charged around $60 dollars for a pencil drawing that takes me days to make it realistic. and i see "artists" selling their filtered pet pics for the same price and get hundreds of purchases :(
as a former artist myself, filters were definitely used on a lot of these ! my favorite was the $75 one. stylized, but still realistic. and the artist even took the time to change the pose of Kobe so you know he wasn't traced ! love it

As an artist myself, it was super obvious with the filters, yes I've used filters myself to get some textures I needed, but I always try to make the filters look unique and not a lazy filter, but I mostly stay away from filters as it's a cheap and sneaky

Most of the early ones he liked were filters. The $30 one he didn’t like is probably closer to what he should be getting for a $30 painting.

Yup, all of them where filter except the one he didn't like and the 75+150 one :s even the one he claimed as winner before revealing the high end one was def a filter, the person probably just used a 2nd layer, and erased part on top of it to make it look like they where drawing it :( I am a digital artist myself and this kind of person make digital artist look bad...
The one who wanted more money was using like a basic filter that I used on an old PC from 15 years ago.
This!! As an artist it was driving me mad, especially when he said the $30 one was a filter. That one was definitely real and it drove me nuts how he loved the filters and was like "ehhh" and called that one a filter.

The only ones that weren’t a filter were the $30 and $70 one. All the rest cost like 50 cents to make on photo editing apps
The $5 ones were good photo editing, so I think those ones weren't scamming someone with a cheap filter

I beg to differ on that. It costs more than that because you're paying for the education to learn how to do that in the programs, plus if you're using photoshop, it's $20 a month for just that program. $60 for the entire adobe suite.

Most of these were traced/filtered from the photo and had no originality. As an artist its frustrating when people do this because it makes it harder for those who actually put work into their pieces and are looking to do honest work for their clients.
Yeah I was frustrated. There are so many hardworking artists, but then you have people just using filters and mild photo editing and claiming they drew or painted it. And they ruin the reputation of artists

I am so with you on this! I'm sorry, but most of these are not "art"! I put a lot of time and effort into my portraits and to see people selling this junk for a few dollars and convincing people that it's art is very frustrating and depressing. There are also portrait factories out there that are just printing out people's photos on canvas and touching them up with a thin film of paint. Again, not art!

I have an idea: make a pupperseum! (Museum) Basically, have shelter dogs paint with their paws dipped in paint, and frame them in a shelter. And you can also give them away!
It could be as a sort of 'remember this dog' thing if you know what I mean where you keep them after they get adopted or I guess you could give them to the person who adopted them. That would be so cool!

As an artist myself, you really learn how to appreciate everyone’s unique style. There is no bad art. Just places to improve on. The main thing is to have confidence in yourself, not doubt your style, and NEVER compare your art style. It’s personal to you and don’t try and change that. These paintings all turned out beautiful and would 100% buy one of my dog.

When that artist asked you for 20 dollars more I already was like, “mmm that doesn’t seem promising...” Then the artist thought there was something wrong with Kobe cause of his sweet eyes so the artist changed it? That ain’t it sis

Cool video! I would donate portraits of dogs to a rescue to help get the pet adopted and gain pet portrait experience for my portfolio. The rescue workers then hired me to do their pets. Now I’m working my dream job of a pet portrait artist full time.

It's a shame that most of the 'artwork' was just digital manipulation. As someone who actually draws animals (and knowing that some digital artists are unscrupulous cheats) it's a little disappointing to see this. And no, the graphite artwork not "just a sketch". A sketch is just line work. That is a drawing and takes time and skill.
Kobe is amazing it's sad to hear he may not be with us much longer but it's good you're giving him an amazing life!

the $30 one you didnt like, and the $75 one are my favorites. you can tell a lot of effort and love was put into them and are obviously not a filter
A lot of them look like they are just filters/traced. Not to put any other artist down but they all look pretty much picture perfect to the original image. Most of these are not genuine and you can just import your image onto a program and apply a art filter.

Hi Rocky! We are going to Hawaii for Vacation on the Big Island and we are planning on going to one of the dog shelters that have a dog "rental" Where you can take dogs on a vacation on the island for 1 day! I think this is a great idea and should be recognized more! Love your videos!

I feel like you got it backwards.. $5 ones were definitely just photo filters made to look like it's digitally painted and then as you got higher the people actually were painting it which obviously takes way more time and effort so of course they looked 'worse' compared to the photo filters.
Almost all of them were filters anyway. Even some of the more expensive ones
All these portraits are good. I would pay 30 dollars easily for the "cartoony" picture of Kobe anyday but we all have different preferences.

Re: the one with the signature right next to the image of Kobe... we had a similar thing happen with the photograph from our wedding that we had printed large to hang in our home. The photographer stuck his logo much more towards the middle of the picture than the edge, and refused to redo it with the logo in a more appropriate place. I ended up buying a frame with an oval opening, which covered up the logo altogether... so he lost any sort of advertising he was hoping to get from trying to take over the picture, and any word of mouth advertising, because there was no way in the world I would ever recommend him to anyone.

Artists are greatly under-appreciated in life and told their skills are useless throughout school. Many of them will price their work as small as 8-10$ for 6 hours or more of work.
