What a great driving lesson !! Watched this video a couple days ago and went down to the indoor Trackman simulator at my club today to try it out. My first 6 shots with my usual swing were 205 -215 yds. After switching to the new swing, I was getting 247 - 258 ! That is a great pick up of 40 yards. By the way I am 68 yrs old, so 250 yards is a big deal to me. Thanks for the instruction Ali. Have a great 2024 season ! from Canada.
Watched this video and put it to practice straight away during my round..... and it worked.... getting more distance and did not miss a fairway... thanks
Came across this video and thought I’ll check it out. Omg game changer. This made so much sense and was absolutely me before. Just got back from 18 holes and haven’t seen ball flights like that before ever. Brilliant video and really simple, clear advice thank you
The transition seems to involve keeping more mass behind the ball and that makes a lot of sense to me to improve hitting up on the ball. Can’t wait to try this.
For the couple of people saying it’s nonsense to get 70 yards - if you think that then you’re not the target audience for this video! I hit the exact shots he mentions both the low weak slice regularly and high push slice when trying to get it in the air. The explanation about the change in setup and lead leg push is exactly what I needed - now hitting high draws down the target line!! Thank you Ali!
Not really but everyone gonna hit that distance you have to be realistic here it's not negative only a small percentage of golfer's will hit that @@Patchkaa33
Then perhaps he should explain the precise target audience. A 70-yard increase for a decent golfer with a square stance moving to his closed stance is just absurd.
Good vid and I believe a spot on tip. Moe Norman, (arguably one of the best ball strikers in history) always positioned his driver a good 6-12 inches behind the ball. When asked why, "it helps me hit up on the ball" I've done it this way for years on a 9 degree driver and so far so good. Thanks for your informative content.
Great tip, you say to move the trail foot to be back more in the setup, I do this for irons which has helped me with hitting them straighter, for my driver my lead foot is back in the setup allowing my to hit straighter, I’m going to try your advice on the range on Saturday before playing on Sunday thanks again
I am only a junior and I was struggling with distance. I tried this with my woods and I normally hit my 3 wood about 190-200. This made me grow my shots to 220-230. This was only my first time trying this method and I can’t wait to try and perfect it.
I thought this was another repeat same old, but this made me see exactly what needs to change. Thanks pal. Awesome to know my 155 chs will be over 160 and distance possible 300. Cheers
Thank you for this. I’ve been struggling with duck hooks. I’d never thought that the swing path starts to go left while swinging up🤯 especially if I don’t have the correct spine angle. That makes total sense to me. I can’t wait to try making these adjustment
Thanks for sharing. Great tips and Great swing. Do you keep the hands at the knee level (height-wise) and just Infront of the lead foot (longituidinal-wise)?
Appreciate the vid, I've saved to watch when I get to the practice range, my problem is I cannot convince my (Right) trailing arm to stay close to my body during rotation, any ideas?
I need to remember this next at the golf course, question which is the easiest way to remember stance length between driver to golf ball? Asking because was at indoor golf simulator and sometimes felt to far away to the ball, other times too close.
I am by no means a good golfer and I’m fairly new, but I recently started stepping up to the ball and my position just ‘felt right’. I think it just comes with time and hitting a lot of balls.
Was doing this today on the course , couldn’t get to a range ,2 things were happening here and there , very low shots like I was almost missing them, I think the ball was too far forward, also, do you tilt your spine at set up?
I have been struggling for years with my driver and tried this today on the range and could not believe the results I was getting. Hitting up and consistent long drives and no low hooks. Looking forward to trying it on the course, but absolutely shocked with results. Thanks Ali.
Do I keep my shoulders square to the target line when I drop my back foot, or am I fully aligning to the right of my target, as if I’m trying to hit a draw?
I'm getting the 208 carry w/ 230 total distance but have that 4.0 attack angle already. Don't know what else to do except pick up 13 mph and I don't think that's in the cards.
What are y’all get paid to promote his video?….i pride myself with getting down to a 1.7 handicap with no lessons….anybody can make a video saying they have the tip that will give youor more distance or save strokes…i give lessons….the key is making it relatable…..make it so you can remember it on the course…simple fixes…..the Kiss method I make a bet with people I work with if we work together for 3 months and you follow what I say and really put in work and your not improving I’ll refund your money….i have 25 currently taking lessons from me…haven’t had to pay one person back…..how do you know people aren’t watching it all the way threw?….I could let you watch this video and ask you a question about what he said in the beginning and you wouldn’t know…..so your comments are irrelevant….
I hit 348 total the other day with my Ping G410 (stiff shaft). Ball came off at 173mph but I can’t hit it consistently and can’t figure out why. I’ll hit a ball like that every 30-40 swings but for some reason I have a hard time maintaining it. I keep sitting consistently at 158-160 and it’s driving me insane because I know I can get more than that.
I'm 66 and play to about a 3 hdcp. My average drive is 235 (as measured on a SkyTrak). My average clubhead speed is 96mph, give or take 1mph or so. Keep in mind, SkyTrak doesn't actually measure club metrics, it measures the ball only and uses algorithms to estimate clubhead speed. That being said, my miss is a two-way miss. I try to hit a draw but I routinely hit pushes and hooks with pretty much equal frequency. A slice for me is very rare and usually only happens when I try to deliberately hit a fade. My misses are either a push to the right or a hook to the left. I only hit the fairway about 40% of the time with the driver. I would LOVE to eliminate either the push or the hook but I have no clue how to do that. I will try this technique and see if this works for me. Thanks!
I hit a driver on a par 3 the other day. It was like 170 to the back of the green and I said "oh yeah that's perfect" and dropped it right near the hole. Still 3 putt for bogie
SLOW DOWN, Most Golfers don't have a Swing Speed over 100 Why is it everyone that make a Video tries to teach us what to do with a Swing Speed of 100+ Give us Carry and Total for swings at 94 (ave low handicap) and 85 (aver mid handicap) and 77 (avg high handicap) Lets play on Yes, this is a very working system I have been playing sense the late 60s This game is for everyone
There has to be a willingness to feel a bit “out of control “. I’m currently in the process of really focusing on driver speed. My iron speed has always been fast enough. I’m mid 80s with a 7 iron and if I rip at it I’ve touched high 90s. My driver speed was just barely a hundred on good swings. After one trip to the range focusing on “staying back” and “driving my left ribs” I was noticing huge improvements. I went to the launch monitor today and had a bunch of 270-280 balls . Headspeed around 102-105 .Probably a legit 30 yds of distance gained. I think implementation of this video might unlock another gear. “Get back, stay back and fire the ribs” is the thought that seems to be working for me.
When you get yourself in the correct position with your club head that far back of your ball where are your eyes focused on the back of the ball or the front of the club head?
Club head speed is 100% about shaft flex and kick. Most amateurs lack of distance is due to their shaft ‘kicking ‘ too early…it’s the whip effect in the zone that has the desired result. Think of the images taken of tour pros the moment after impact, the club head is kicked forward ahead of their hands. Distance = timing everything 1 foot before until 1 foot after impact. This may mean shortening your backswing. Personally, I had to change from horizontal at the top to something more akin to Tony Finau’s club head almost vertical above my head with very little cocking of the wrist.
You are entirely mistaken. The images you’re referring to are distorted due to the lack of a global shutter in most cameras, which makes the shaft appear to bend significantly. It’s the same optical illusion that makes helicopter blades look bent when they’re not.
Here’s a hint, to hit it FARTHER you need better club speed, and technique. Period. So many of this vids having selling points on little tid bits when in reality the only way to hit it FAR is the aforementioned.
Just another RUclips click-bait title. No human has ever taken one tip and gained 70 yards with a Driver. It has never happened and will not happen with this. Is it a good tip, yes. Is it good for another 70yds on your driver....you've got to be out of your mind!!!
Numbers look juiced to me, especially with your impact on the face being so low. Let's see some spin numbers. How many takes did you do for the first drive until you barely caught it on the bottom of the face?
More snake oil from British golf instructors. It is well nigh impossible to add 70 yards with a couple of minor changes to your setup or swing. While the tips provided in the video are good, the claim that it will add 70 yards is bollocks.

Love the video mate I’ve been implementing your tips and they’ve been lowering my handicap I’m now a 12 use to be an 18!

Great video. What launch angle are you happy with?
Great video. When you set up your driver 2 club heads behind the ball, do you keep your eye on the low point or ball in your down swing? Thanks.
I just started doing this and keep my eye on the low point and trust it is going to impact the ball correctly. Havent topped one since.
I would stare at a blade of grass Near the back edge of the ball
this is one of the best instructional videos I have lately seen. Kudos 👍

How are you liking that shaft Ali, I’ve got the same one in my Tsr3. Best driver shaft combo I’ve ever had!
Where are you positioning the ball relative to the club face?
Do I keep my shoulders square to the target line when I drop my back foot, or am I fully aligning to the right of my target, as if I’m trying to hit a draw?
I never hit that low squibber. I hit the ball TOO high, with too much spin, and this hurts my distance - both carry and total.
Great video, its like you were describing me to a tee (no pun intended) - thanks 👍
I'm getting the 208 carry w/ 230 total distance but have that 4.0 attack angle already. Don't know what else to do except pick up 13 mph and I don't think that's in the cards.

The concept is the same, and even more important for slower swing speeds.
I don't think it matters how fast you swing in what he's telling us. It's more about technique and getting it right.
but wait.. theres more... another great video, just in time for me to hit the range
I would never be able to hit drives like that with only a 87 MPH club head speed. Most I can get is 235 total yards on a good day
you “stole” my comment! 😂. if i could add 70 yards i’d give him - or anyone - $1000.00

100%? lol. I would say club head speed is 90% of how fast the player can move his arms, and 10% everything else.
