I agree. Although back in the days, styluses were compulsory as the windows mobile interface was stylus based whereas android is touch based. I certain want to see a stylus in the future version of this phone for productivity like note taking and other features niche features, exactly how the Samsung Note uses it while having android. So a suggestion to F(x) tech for the next version of this phone (stylus function). A huge thank you to them for designing this phone for us who have been craving the QWERTY keyboard.
Actually, there were quite a few droid phones in this form factor back in the day. There was the myTouch 4G Slide, the Galaxy S Relay, the Droid 4 ... They just went out of favor and died.
No. The phone NOKIA should have made. But nooo. We must stick to Symbian and let it ruin us so Microsoft could buy us and ruin us even more! It hurts me still to know the king of communicator devices just... Died. They are kinda back now, but Nokia phones, while innovative, are still just half-assed. Great ideas that arent fully finished when released to the market.
@@Wistbacka oh please, Android was never the answer, they just released Lumia too late and they killed off Symbian support too early with no upgrade path and also killed Meego for no reason. Blackberry did the exact same mistakes with BB10 . Android wouldnt exist otherwise, pre 4.x Android was utter crap. PERIOD
@@karthiknaik3944 Android had apps and more support and flexibility. And while Android was crap at that time, they had the app support, and at that time, that was more important than anything else. So yeah, symbian could have worked if only they would have gotten more aps at the time.
After the amazing HTC Touch Pro 2, i've been waiting for the next gorgeous slide out keyboard smartphone with the latest specs... This is almost it. Just missing a glass back with Qi charging, snapdragon 855, a 2k OLED display and a very good wide angle camera
Yeh that would be nice.... I would be happy to pay a higher price tag for those (plus a stylus). But I understand why they did it, they want keep the price down, and those who really want a slide out full QWERTY keyboard, will buy this phone. I hope the market will be big enough for this company to continue improving on this device.
It's so amazing. Retro futurism. Playing DOOM on it would be so great. Hope the camera is on par with most flagships, that is a big one. I want these phones to come back, hopefully this will do amazing and the trend will catch back on.
You could actually get so good typing on this with the thumbs that you could type without looking at the screen! Imagine that! Texting while keeping your eyes on the road and steering with your chin, or belly, or inside of arms, that's gonna be a skill to develop.
Pasi123 YES! Thank you for correcting me, I’ll add the correction right now to my original comment. It was a beautiful device, the video recording was amazing back in that device.
I like it because when keyboard deployed acts as stand then can be used to reply to texts etc. With out touching screen but just to say normal full screen, full specs smart phone etc.great hands down beats blackberry
4:14... It's not something that you want to slide back and forth. Don't forget it has the ribbon below the keyboard so it will most likely cause problems like it did to me in the HTC Desire Z.
Do you have problem when you want to text someone in landscape position?? Since we only use thumbs and the length of each words can become problematic?? Or I might be wrong.. 😅
If ut was a new T-Mobile Sidekick, I would be more interested. The Sidekick screen swivel and keyboard were the best two aspects of the Sidekick devices.
I have been waiting for this phone format for soooooo long. Please say it will be available in the UK. Calling it a throwback doesn't help though. It's just a really practical phone that will satisfy the media/social media and productivity types.
Between this, the Gemini PDA, and LG V60 I'm extremely intrigued. But I'm leaning more towards the Pro 1. I just want to experiment with downloading different os on it, like Sailfish 😂😅
God I miss these kinds of integrated keyboards being on what seemed like EVERYTHING. If you didn't want it, just slide it back, out of sight and out of mind. But it would always be there, ready to be useful when you needed it. The Blackberry keyboard was always more intrusive and I get why that style fell out of favor with consumers, but... damn why did this style have to become so rare?!
Would've preferred a SD 660 or some power efficient processor especially since its geared towards productivity but still pretty neat tho especially for the price
@@MsMRkv my old note 8 begs to differ, an 835 with a 3300 mah was kinda meh to okay on battery life so yeaahhhh 660-670 phones like the blackberry key two having easily a full day and some battery
I think this would be a cool phone if the keyboard was actually a touch screen keyboard and the phone screen a little bigger by making it a infinity screen by removing the vessels and also make it a little weider so it looks more squared up just to give it a better view like a super small laptop I believe if they would have done that they would got the results that they want people that like older phones with keyboards don't really care about them being pushed buttons they just like the keyboard itself that's why if it was touch screen it would be way better
makes me think back to my very first phone nokia ringo. Come to think about it I only had brick phones back then no fancy sliding things. I had a moto flip phone though the clap when it shut was addictive..edit: oh yeh i had a nokia 3310 also who didn't that thing would of out stood the stone ages.
Only things keeping me from placing a preorder: a) why is the UI so clunky! Those icons are ginormous. b) why the curved screen? I'd rather have a flat screen that I can actually put screen protectors on. If they're going for productivity, why not go all the way. Fit more info on the screen and make it user friendly.
Please no, TCL is very poor Chinese company...their QA is horrible and very out of touch with reality. (They are asking 750 for a recolored K2 which has inferior specs to this for example...)
I remember way back when I had my Siemens SK65, the only thing holding this phone back is the software.... I was the cool guy in school who could share things via IR and Bluetooth 🤣🤣🤣
Give me a N900 form factor slider, bezel less, no headphone jack, selfie cam in the keyboard section with a pixel camera and in screen fingerprint sensor and a small kickstand and I'll be more than willing to pay $800+. Not a fan of the n97 form factor.
Don't care that the specs are outdated. I WANT IT. Other than a compact flagship, this is the kind of phone I'd get. Is it possible to change the search engine? I'd replace it with Bing or DuckDuckGo.
It's not really outdated, the snapdragon 835 is a top end flagship from 2 years ago, it is more than capable today and most users won't even utilize all of its power to begin with. A very solid choice overall with decent performance/cost ratio. 6 gigs of ram is also a bit of overkill, it has lots of room to remain relevant for long enough. If 128 gigs of storage is not enough for you then you can still upgrade to an sd card up to 2tb..
This should better be a Pixel Pro, targeted to enthusiastic consumers. As we had seen on E7, it's the software & GUI that makes its PDA like design more appreciable. If one can remember E7 vs N8 for real, they know it for sure. It should better be available worldwide.
I completely agree. I've owned both of those devices. Even though most of the specifications between the N8 and E7 are the same, using the E7 felt very different. Hoping to see more devices like this in the future!
Actually asked the origin of the brand name. Pro-style.
what do you think Blackberry will do now ?
I like throwbacks!
Brings me back to my TMobile G2 days.
I hate that this is considered retro. Companies never should have stopped making qwerty phones.
this, so much this. the mechanism they use for this is basically identical to the e-7's, and it was AWSOME.
People stopped buying qwertys. It was because the photon q sold poorly
Actually looks like a phone I'd like to try and I think I'll love it.
It’s a Galaxy Note 8 mounted on the keyboard of a Nokia E7.
yo:)
This is the phone I've always wanted. All it needs is an integrated stylus! A throwback to those old Windows CE Mobile phones except it's all droid'!

Love it, reminds me of my Sony Vaio Duo 13 laptop, all it needs is a stylus
Nokia E7 re-branded, exact copy of the mechanism.
Just wanted to mention it, since no reviewer mentioned it yet.
It is made by ex Nokia employees who also worked for Nokia E7
Arfat Magray Nice! Didn’t know that.
Nokia E9? I think you mean the Nokia E7. There was also the Nokia N950 but it was only for developers.
Pasi123 YES! Thank you for correcting me, I’ll add the correction right now to my original comment. It was a beautiful device, the video recording was amazing back in that device.
It's not really rebranding if it's completely different but opens the same way. There's only so many ways a phone can open.

Google made a very similar sliding mechanism back in like 2011 and there were a LOT of issues.
love qwerty! but i hope they make a smaller one for smaller hands! it looks a bit too big for my use
Do you have problem when you want to text someone in landscape position?? Since we only use thumbs and the length of each words can become problematic?? Or I might be wrong.. 😅
So how can someone get this phone and what network would this work on
Ahh, the Xperia Pro days
WHAT ABOUT USING GOOGLE MAPS??? is typing only on the keyboard or can you type on the vertical touch screen as well????
ALSO WHAT ABOUT EMOJIES
If ut was a new T-Mobile Sidekick, I would be more interested. The Sidekick screen swivel and keyboard were the best two aspects of the Sidekick devices.
everything else about the sidekicks were garbage though
a swivel keyboard would be so stupid for this phone
Big up for the sxsw tee-shirt this could be the new sidekick for us kids who miss that form factor

How do I order it
Why wasn't this recommend ages ago? Instant subscribe to Joshua's channel, and I haven't watched the video yet.
I like they way how he struggles to slide the keyboard out with one hand
Ditch the curved screen. 16x9?
Any news of coming to the Netherlands

I hope its keyboard's color wont fade like some cases of Qwerty Phones before

A 4 inch device with a physical keyboard would be the most ergonomic device ever.
Along with a headphone jack and sd card slot.
This phone looks cool. I really want to buy it but it probably won't come out for ages.
It's supposed to come out in July 2019
They should have gone 100% screen and put the front facing cameras on the the keyboard area
Great suggestion. Maybe put this idea to the company yourself. I wouldn't want to take credit for it.. 😁
