You said it! This is one of my very favorite Led Zep songs. Bonzo is attacking the drum kit, Robert is wailing, Jimmy is violin bowing. I love the part in the middle where they switch to "The Hunter". Robert's vocal when he screams "gun" at the end is out of this world. This song is right up there with Dazed and Confused and Whole Lotta Love IMO!

This is, by far, the best video you have put out. By far.
    Congratulations.
Firstly, due to the choice of music.
    Secondly, your reaction.
And thirdly, you raise a question which too few people ask. Is Hi-Tech now just a "crutch"?
Well, no, it shouldn't be, but it is - it's used as a substitute for actual musical ideas.
How many tracks can you lay down now in a studio?
I've no idea, but Led Zeppelin only had four tracks to record this LP.
    But they had talent.
    Tech. will never replace talent.

Thx Scribe! Zep's debut album was/is a masterpiece, every song incredible. I remember first hearing it summer of 1969, when I was 15, it was unlike anything I had ever heard. A couple notes of interest: At around 4:30, the rhythm used is called a 'bolero', created by the composer Ravel about a hundred years ago, it has been used by some rock bands (Roy Orbison - Running Scared; Deep Purple - Child In Time; Emerson Lake and Palmer - Abadon's Bolero; Styx - Lady; Alice Cooper - School's Out; ) The other thing, at 7:44, they are definitely ripping off the lyrics from "The Hunter" by Blue Cheer (I believe the very first 3 piece heavy metal band), whose album came out the year before (1968).

Technology has both hurt and helped music over the years, however music back then was from the heart and soul and being true to their music. Im very amazed of how the blues had influenced so many then and now.. It seems now a days everyone is commercialized in their music and its more about the money and not from the heart towards fans.. LONG LIVE ZEPPLIN!!❤

I'm an semi-olden dude now but I felt the same, total goosebumpage, when I first heard this song in the early 80s. Then I learned John Bonham had died a few years before and I'd never see them live. That was a sad but glad moment. Google the isolated drum track. Its mesmerizinging. Bomham was the shit. He just oozed an instinctive feel that was irreplaceable,
RIP John Henry Bonham. Thanks for the gifts you gave us all.

"...once you've reached a certain level, there's no more excuses...". Never a truer word said. Funnily enough and conversely, many good bands back in the day fell by the wayside because they couldn't transfer the energy and excitement they generated live, on to vinyl. A living was made from vinyl sales, not live performing, unless you were filling stadiums, which is different to today too, I believe. Many others didn't break until they released a live album. Zep were lucky in one way in that Jimmy Page had been a very in-demand session musician and so knew how to get it down on vinyl, and of course, who he needed to help him do that. I've enjoyed so many of your reactions, but have not commented before. You can see you're a muso from the way you pick up on little things and can switch from instrument to instrument. And I'd have to say, I'm with many other comments I've seen, in that you can naturally belt a note. From your songs, it's not what you are into though, but you should give it a try, perhaps live sometime. Good luck.

My brother brought this home one fine day in 1968. Then we knew the Brits knew more. Mssrs Plant, Pagey, Bonzo and Johnny Paul - yep. Zep, say it again. I invented your dance style, by the way, in 1975, spreading out from West Hollywood. I'm 69, 109 pounds, 5'9" and if you come to Hollywood I will introduce the guy who danced with Funkadelic one fine night on Sunset at the Whiskey Au Go Go, 1974. By 1975 I had invented the original Napoleon Dynamite style and so moved on to the I Don't Care, Much Anymore - starts out torch style and turns into a Zep styled no apologies given Jimmy. So in the early 90s I hear about a dance style and I said out loud "no way". Zep was there with the Houses of the Holy when I started dancing so they are DNA prominent. The first album blew our stupifd minds and isn't that a Howlin' Wolf line??? Oh well, it's Zep, bra. Even Island People get Zep. Kidding. You should see the log drumming that goes on till the dawn's early light. Oh, yes, the Island people have been doing the gods of thunder act for a very long time, go figure. Everything comes from something, surprize and the sources are infinite. Yes I invented the "K" dance style in 1975 and I am alive all you jive turkeys. I'll show you, in Hollywood, my ipod, anytime. (that means that I will demonstrate a much less athletic style the origins) and yes, I will dance for you so film it knuckleheads. "Hey, this guy invented "k*******" in 1975". Your dance gets Zep so thanx I knew that the newTube would find you. I'm not even doing da mattz on 1968. Like, 54 years? That's a lottaZep, for better and for worse.

This is my favorite Zeppelin song too! That whole first album just blew me away the first time I heard it… and actually, I didn’t own the album. It was a cassette tape, which I listened to over and over in my car…. How Many More Times is actually one of the best songs for driving… I probably feel that way because the first time I heard was on the road… So there’s that… and the louder the better…. It gets me every time.
To answer your question: Technology has helped music… no question about it….

I have to agree with you about the technology aspect in music. I'm 68 and as a kid growing up, I had to work almost a year to get my first guitar. Today it is easier, although many kids can't afford their own computers, and in some aspects, the technology may be more expensive than the instrument. I also agree that the technology has hurt the musician and her/his ability to master the instrument. J. Page became a master of his instrument by trying many different sounds on it. He also practiced for thousands of hours and was blessed with incredible talent. He also had dedication and desire to become the best he could be. I think technology lets a musician down today because they can now just be good enough and the technology will fill in the rest of it. They now lack the dedication and desire to master their craft. This also goes for voice artists as well. As JerrBear74 states below, "It seems now a days everyone is commercialized in their music and its more about the money and not from the heart towards fans." BTW I love watching you react to these ancient pieces of music (classics). This question is both insightful and not easy to answer. I had to think about it for sometime. Thanks for that as well! Your answer to this question too, gave me much to consider and changed how I was immediately going to respond. I learned something from you and that was cool! Never too old to learn. Thanks again for everything you do here!!!!

My favorite Led Zeppelin song, too. Glad you did a reaction. Regarding your question, Rick Beato did a good video on how the “grid” ruined pop music. Finally, Zepp produces all that music with only a three-piece. That’s not a big band at all
