    Perhaps Led Zeppelin's most underrated song. A real hidden gem!

      I don't understand why people always say this. TYG has always been regarded as oner of LZ's best. It's on regular rotation at classic rock stations. Underrated by whom?

    • @PongGod
      @PongGod 4 года назад +6

      @@jkovert I honestly can't remember the last time I ever heard it played on a classic rock station. It doesn't get a fraction of the airplay of "Stairway to Heaven", "Dazed and Confused", "Black Dog", nor probably a half a dozen other Zeppelin songs. So that's probably why people always say this.

If I tried to analyze my reaction, I would say it was a combo between being moved by the music and seeing a younger gen person that gets it as well. One of the greatest song transitions ever appears between 5:08 and 5:52. What the hell is that dissonant cord that Jimmy plays between 5:08 and 5:52? What ever it is, it's awesome.

      If I'm thinking of the chord you're referring to, played with a single upstroke at the end of each line in the middle eight, I would describe it as D6addE (no 3rd). Guitar is tuned to drop D and you simply fret the G string at the 2nd; all the other strings are played open. At least that's what I'm hearing 😀

    Robert Plant said that he wrote this song about a girl he knew back in high school. She got married and settled into a conventional life as a housewife, while Robert became a rock god. Their lives diverged, but he still thought about her. The warmth of the guitar work complements the lyrics very well. I've always loved this song. CARCAR: Plant was married to the same woman from 68-83...Zep was actually notoriously boring on the road, except Bohnam...More importantly, Plant and his wife lost their 5 year old son, Karac, to a stomach virus that took only a couple of hours to kill him in 1977...Led Zep was on tour which was cut short as a result...perhaps you ought to do a little research and examine the evidence before you hand down the judgment...Plant was a family man...The LED Zep song All My Love by Plant and JPJ is a tribute to Karac...as far what you 'heard' about the song's inspiration, Plant tells it himself. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Years_Gone#Recording_and_production

I play the drums, my brother plays the guitar and he's the best musician out of us, my sister plays bass. I know all the words and how to drum most of the songs she's hearing for the first time and it's fun to watch her fall in love with Zep! I did at an early age. They're timeless. Led Zeppelin is just one of those music groups that can't be replicated. Many can play their songs fair enough, but never quite do it like them. Jason Bonham can, but he grew up learning music from his dad John Bonham and it's their DNA. But most of us can't, That's why they're timeless.

    From the guitar solo to the "do you ever really want somebody....." is probably my favorite 90 seconds in music.
    This is the only song that has made me cry.
    The hard rocking stuff got me into zeppelin but things like ten years gone maintained my interest. Zeppelin is the GOAT because of their diversity

    This is one of the greatest rock ballads in history in my opinion. Nice to see such an emotional reaction.

    My favorite zep song and watching you react is basically like seeing myself listening to this, air drumming, making the face, all that, lol.

    Actually it was 10 yrs ago that Robert Plant left his love to pursue a singing career When he wrote this in 1974-75 , She looked young as she did in his dreams.

    My understanding is that Robert Plant was seeing a woman who gave him an ultimatum, the music or her. We all know what he chose. This is his contemplation of those circumstances. Please react to “The Ocean”, “Hey Hey What Can I Do?”, “Dancing Days”, “For Your Life”,”Achilles Last Stand” just to name a few.

      Robert Plant said something like "she's very happy now. She's married and has a washing machine."

      If she reacts to The Ocean, it HAS to be the Madison Square Garden performance. 👍😉
