@Janet On Occasion It isn't that the purification hex didn't work on the province, it's that Ironspike belonged to a different province altogether. Specifically the one the Skaven occupied 3/4 of.
Honestly Mother Ostyanka reminds me of my Grandmother. Probably cause I am slavic and so is she :D.
For some reason I expected Mother O was going to be in Kislev. I can understand moving her out, as Kislev would be overcrowded with factions, but Naggaroth? Didn't expect that. Like once more that they created thematic special stuff for her. I do wish they had made her capitol look more thematic for her and not a Dark Elf city though.
Make sense it still a frozen area and there is a Enchanted wood nearby, which Ostankia probably has good living condition in unlike almost every faction that aren't Wood Elves or character starting in one. (And chaos dwarf who don't care has it all just just a future industrial wasteland)
I guess Kislev was a bit crowded but can’t say I’m a fan of this start location
I think it's more for start location variety + there are a lot of ways to get those ingredients for curses and blessings in this region
While I do recognize the gameplay value of variety in enemies and faction interaction (playing as Kislev and being able to do diplomacy with high elves and lizardmen is pretty neat), lorefully I think it would have made MUCH more sense to make Mother Ostankya a horde faction starting north-east of Kislev, with main enemies being the various Norscans, Kholek, Grimgor, chorfs, and eventually the demons of the Chaos Wastes, securing the safety of Kislev not by occupying and protecting the three core cities but by rampaging through the wilderness destroying any threats before they ever get to Kislev/Praag/Erengrad... playing as Mother Ostankya conquering territory on a different continent feels kinda weird
Yeah, I honestly think that some of the decisions with her were influenced by the fact that lots of the things she does would have fit amazingly with some of the Changeling's mechanics, but just giving her the Changeling's mechanics would probably make people a bit put off. For instance, the changeling's ability to put in basically skaven under cities would likely be very good for her, represented as her taking over the forests around the settlement, and being invisible while going through said forests, but then she really just starts feeling like the Kislevite Changeling which isn't what they're trying to go for. Definitely ways to make things fit better, but a bit of a risk of repetition@@JimRFF
I think Boris could be placed somewhere else, and Ostankya take that area. Ostankya is tied to the land of Kislev, Katarin is the Ruler of Kislev, and Kolstaltyn is vying for influence over Kislev with Katarin.
Boris just wants to fight Chaos, so he doesn't really need to be around Kislev to do that. Like Volmar, he could take the fight somewhere else to make space in Kislev.
I feel like the little game Kostaltyn and Katarin has going kind of ruins the chance of their starting locations from being unique. I feel like Kostaltyn would be perfect for Ostankya's current location. Seeing how one of his very first quest battles are about dark elves "going for his flock", would make sense that he would sail all the way to Naggaroth to retaliate, meanwhile Ostankya should spawn somewhere in western Kislev.
Whoa! Don’t insult the Hag Witches by saying they look like Rudi Juliani! 😂 It’s true though! 🤣
1:09:55 Wrong province. :P
Literally yelling at my screen when he did that 🙄
@@D.Jackson141 I've made that mistake myself, but it's always so frustrating. :P
Glad to see this campain here thx for the video. Fun fact "Boszorka's Wrath" Boszorkány mean witch Boszorka is a shorten kinda nickname for Boszorkány. And Gulyas is Gulyás as famous hungarian soup. Also gulyás is the name of the cow sheperd. (Yes we Hungarians have a different word for every domesticated animal group and their sheperd as well). Wait for the next video. :D
Big fan of her design! Really wish she could start closer to Kislev in Immortal Empires though, I still kind of hate playing in Naggaroth haha!
Chaos waste would of been a better start spot I think
Come on, Janet, don't be unkind! Mother Ostankya deserves far better than to be compared to a horrid undead lich-thing!
Been looking forward to this campaign. Of the three DLC commanders, she was the one that piqued my interest the most.
06:40 Comparing the Dark Elves to pirates massively downplays the threat a Black Ark represents because they are massive floating fortresses that have the capacity to abduct entire towns and villages.
Black Arks are basically giant floating city-fortresses with the defensive weaponry and garrison being enough dissuade even entire fleets from that area. That's not counting the escort fleet(s) that most Black Arks usually have. Though Black Arks vary largely in size and importance.
Ironspike was in a different province, dude.
Edit: Wait, you noticed. My b.
Is there anything more Kislev, than not being in Kislev at all?
4:55 I feel like this lady would get along very well with the Dwarfs, once they get past the whole "magic" thing.
She is very Slavic like Baba Yaga and lot of her monster remind me folklore creatures
😂 "Rudy Giulliani" made me laugh at my desk
‘America’s Hagwitch’
@@JanetOnOccasion I doubt Ostankya will be in jail by the end of this week though.....
@@JanetOnOccasion Come on, that's not fair to hag witches lmaoo
15:55 Wonder if like norscan unites count as humans? or like chaos knights. because they are humans just hoped up on chaos. I wouldn't except the chaos knights to be scared. but I think norscan infantry are human enough.
Haha her folklore ability quote there is a reference from Captain Barbosa in pirates of the Caribbean 1
i love how with each DLC they also renew some lores of magic the chaos dwarf DLC redid the fire lore and now wild and light have new visuals
I look forward to an Albion update in the workshop to "borrow" from mother o's mechanics. Seems very fitting for them I think.
Fun fact Maliketh picked there precisely cause its a horrible place. It would make sure his people were always eager to invade the high elves.
One thing I would've liked to see would've been the thing in the woods being vanguard units. They seem like a solid low level shock cavalry, but they would really benefit from vanguard placement...
I love her, the fact she reminds me of the tale of baba yaga is great, an old hag living in the forest
Holy crap she starts in Naggaroth! That’s so cool! You started reading out text talking about Druchii, and I was like “huh, I guess some Druchii have invaded Kislev” and then the camera pans out and my mind was blown! 🤯
Such an unexpected start, I like it! Gives Kislev a very different play experience! 😁
Name the incarnal elemental "Fluffy"
The emphasis in Annushka goes on the first "A". But still, good kislevian pronunciation.
About saints. The deal is this: their body parts aren't rot. So everybody should see this as a proof of their holiness. Not saying that I believe in this, but such is the lore.
To me, this faction just doesnt fit into the Kislev theme/Aesthetic. More like a Beastment or Chaos faction.
Kislev.
Kislev
Kislev.
“Kislev.”😐
I love the Baba Yaga feel this gives.
not a fan of this starting location. Is this lord the strongest for Kislev?
Start location is kind of bothering me, but she looks cool though..
45:02 Humans also aren’t of this planet, they too were created of the Old ones… so you guys also aren’t of Nature???
Isn't there also some lore that early humans were native, but they were altered by the Old Ones?
@@xvim7106 I was pretty sure that it was to cold for anything but Yetee’s, dragons, dragon ogres, and deep sea creatures to live on.
Very true (outside of the equator's dinosaurs). Seems I'm a bit too tired for lore.
When you're a bear, you get to hibernate.
Totally agree! She looks so much bonkers fun.
Mother Ostankya is essentially the Kislevite Badda Yagga, correct? It would be neat if she rode a chicken legged platform
So true!..
Ok someone tell me what the woodwarden line is a reference to
honestly was kinda hoping she would be another forest faction like maybe something different then world roots but her entire think is forests so was kinda hoping for her to live in them.
I'm pretty sure in the realm of chaos campaign she starts out in a new magic forest
this start position is a big wtf
Spiders should be able to climb walls without ladders. Fight me.
yes they really should have that
A man voicing her. Lol
Looking forward to this campaign. I think I'm going to enjoy it.
Mother o is the only human all treekin including the the elders would chill with
While I’m not a big fan of this start location, I am really happy that it is THIS spot in particular because of the proximity to the Sisters of Twilight. Great Synergy/Co-Op potential there.
As I know kislev and wood elf factions have diplomatic penalty. So I guess they are going to be enemy If morathi does not wipe her out in first 30 turn.
Morathi and Ostankya: Which witch is the witchiest?
Best GM quote! 00:42:50 Perfect! Made me howl...so true! For Kislev's enemies, head North? Beastmen and such?
noice
Let's go
Any idea if Drycha gets the Kislev forest units?
Finally, Baba Yaga
Legit spit take at 7:52
= D
I was expecting her to have her own Lore of Hag spellbook.. just giving her Beasts & Shadows seems a bit lazy, given the pricepoint.
The beast/shadow mix is already perfectly fitting with the hag in the woods theme.
The specific magical abilities of the hags outside of curses & blessings are very basic, so there is very little to take for a whole new lore of magic.
Oh she prayed to the Ancient Widow at 12:25
They hadn't mentioned her yet since the rework/bearification of Kislev
Totally love that you picked this up as the next campaign 🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼
they should give her a red line, with ranged buffs
Will buy this dlc cause of this episode. Super pumped. Thank you for all your work! Best TW content creator out there for sure
Is the Embargo already over? Thought the showcase needed to be released first?
When it comes to rogue armies and beastmen wipe them out quickly if they spawn in your land. If you don't all they will do is raid your lands and once your army is 10 turns away, will blow up your settlements.
The idea she uses chaos to defeat chaos is quite an interesting idea similar how Yuri himself tried but fails for being to greedy with the gods blessings lossing himself
the whole point of hags is they don't use chaos they use spirits to cast magic but CA has stripped the staff of its assets so they just use the winds like everyone because its cheaper just giver her drycha's animals and groms cauldrons
Umm, she technically works for Chaos as well. Dafuq!?
@@90skidcultist the thing in the woods are a creature corrupted by chaos the ror especially are the abomination of mordhaim when the warpstone meteor struck it mutaded the bears into abominations
11:25 in fairness until you said that i didnt realize they were different words
The Thing In The Woods looks glorious, and I'm proud of CA for giving them to both KIslev and the Beastmen, but this is still sadly not worth twenty five. If I ever get Warhammer 3 (haven't had the time yet) I won't be getting Shadows without a sale.
Very fun video
She does remind me of an old woman as a Slav, minus the horns and creepy stuff.
Mother Ostankya in Naggarond - Hag on Hag violence.
Hag to hag combat
mods give us lore of hags
For this pricetag CA should've given us that ... and more
@@bigopzookaFor that price, they could have also given us an Empire rework, unique Elector Count Lords, and all of their lore units unlocked! Perhaps they could’ve thrown Neferata in there as well. But she needs her own faction, some newer units from VC, and features.🫤
@@90skidcultist Okay that sounds a bit much. Maybe for forty I'd be wanting that much shit. Here, I'd be happy with two more units per faction and a melee hero for Cathay and Kislev.
@@cormacoregan471 the elector counts doesn’t need to all be uniquely voiced🤷🏻. If they’re gonna charge a DLC for almost half the game, I want my money’s worth. They can easily afford to do this.
Feels as if she was based on Baba Yaga.
ngl don't much like this one :/
Oh I had no idea she had wild animals! I also loved the Drycha campaign for the same reason.
