I'm soft when I was young I could were a medium to deep soft cool red.Now my hair is grey I now look better in a lighter version of the same color
The light just switched on in my head! I am a Dark, cool and SOFT! Those vampy plums and berries look fantastic on me despite having very pale olive skin. Bright lipsticks just sat on my lips and upstaged me all the time. White based lipsticks made me look greenish gray.
I have dark hair and l think neutral undertone (Green and purple veins) and l adore the pretty much all the shades in the "BRIGHT" slide. I have a vampy "berry" lipstick and it looks awful on me. Now l know why, it's a SOFT tone, a mix of purple, red and grey. Ugh!!!
Next time when shopping for a dark lipstick
I'm craving a rich, deep Burgundy or a warm, deep coppery red. Or a shimmery, coppery Brown.
This is one of my favorite colors. thank you for covering this.
you are so very welcome!
I learned that many cosmetic companies cheat a little when it comes to red lipstick. Black pigment is cheap, so they add it into the formula. You'd probably have to pay more with a luxury brand to get pure, true red Chroma lipstick.
I own a blazer in and a Mac lipstick in "watermelon". Can't remember the shade name but it's in their regular Amplified line. It's a searing, eye watering colour. I bought the lippie to annoy my mom who said l always looked so pale. 🤣. Wearing the colour close to my face with my jet black hair is quite dramatic, eclectic and bold.
You look great in these colors.
I can wear warm red and cool red because I'm African-American caramel skin i dye my hair red in winter and autumn and i bleach my hair blonde in spring and summer
I can pull off watermelon and cranberry but the cooler ones not at all...i should be warmer because im a natural redhead. But the warmer side of the reds is too warm for me.
in her color wheel this hue where watermelon is pointed out as being warm, and also in her purple sheet, she says that warm undertones can wear watermelon and those colors in the same hue, i don't understand
I love ultraviolet. I can wear that colour anywhere on me
Would you consider the old standby “Cherries in the Snow” by Revlon , a true red?
Thank you, really helpful.
I feel like neither warm nor cool red would look good on olive skin. I have olive skin and magenta looks weird.
What is the best red shade for jersey
So rosey slightly mauve pink haha
Anybody else start seeing weird colored circles after watching this color wheel? Hahaha
Thank you for the effort and detail you put into these videos. I subbed yesterday and have been binge watching, lol. Could you do a video about pale skin? I prefer warmer toned lipstick and hair dye, and I think I look horrendous with cool toned makeup and hair, so I assume I am more warm toned. Most of the advice super pale women get when referring to undertones is 'pale=cool' but obviously that's not always the case (look at Christina Hendricks.) I'm having trouble determining my skin tone because I'm super pale (I think this is my most dominant feature) but my eyes are not bright blue or green, they're a yellowish/slightly orange hazel (more autumn?) with naturally light to medium warm golden brown hair. Basically, I'm wondering if one can be an autumn if they're super pale or a spring if they have hazel eyes. I'm Wayyyyy paler than any of the examples for warm tones with the exception of the clear/light spring examples but my eyes are not exceptionally lighter than my hair.
You're right, pale does not mean cool necessarily. I'm "pale" but I have obvious yellow undertones. Many people, who are soft and toned tend to appear neutral and there is no obvious undertone. This causes a lot of confusion, which I completely understand. Based on your description, you are soft, warm and light to medium. I highly recommend you check out the e-book What Colors Look Good On Me which will introduce you to the soft color wheel and how to customize your colors to the warm and medium. For the seasons, you would likely be a soft spring or a soft autumn light. Yes, you can be pale and be an autumn. This is why I created my new color system. It shouldn't matter what season... simply what are your overall characteristics. Soft, warm and light to medium. Jen Thoden Thank you so much! I have always appeared neutral, lol.
If you are kind of pale/light all over you cannot pull off dramatic, high contrast, bold, bright colours that a winter can. Stick with makeup colours that are more on the soft and natural side. As for the much vaunted red pout, a warm tomato red would look fantastic on you.
