    Seems many people don’t understand…
CTRL ALT DEL triggers a kernel interrupt. Meaning, as long as your system’s kernel is still running and hasn’t crashed, it’ll work. And given that in most cases it’s just one program freezing up most of the system, pressing CTRL ALT DEL will have the kernel temporarily stop executing instructions, allowing you to use the menu even if your computer was frozen.

Power button shutdown or unexpected power outage can cause corruption in the cases that the system is still doing critical task such as installing an update. However our PC are smart and designs have been made to mitigate this to the point that it does not really matter. The machine will save and migrate file before shutdown with the power button. In fact some machine have the shutdown button function the same as the emergency shutdown beacuse why would you need 2 different way to turn the machine off anyway.

Tech obsessed guy here, he’s half right. Power button shouldn’t be used every time you shut off your pc, but it’s ok to hold it for restart if your entire screen is frozen, otherwise just use sleep mode. Why should you use sleep instead of power button? It keeps the internal heat slightly up, so when it goes out of sleep mode it puts less strain on the parts when it starts processing at full speed. (Short answer, going from cold to hot really fast is bad and can break stuff) also make sure to restart your pc every couple of days so the cpu run time can reset

Windows caches all important processes and info, so a hard restart has a next to zero chance of corrupting your drive. If it's locked up, Ctrl+alt+del won't get a response. So yes, you can hard shut down your PC safely. Just wait 10-30 seconds before rebooting it to prevent any power spikes from causing component damage (happened to me, lost two sticks of RAM because I rebooted it too fast after a hard shutdown)
