The physics will end up making this pretty much that, just never as polished as session . I really wish they had gone a different direction with the controls though

Animations in Session are great and riding is in a really good place right now, but the skater is still stiff. Just not at True Skate levels. Lol
This will improve later on if the devs keep at it, but Session is better by a long shot.
This was great. I’m just some skater who plays a lot of True Skate. Btw, holding both triggers stabilizes speed wobbles on megaramp. Use RB or “spincam” to rotate your body with the board…
Btw guys the game is Beta.. so definitely lots of work left to do on the game.

Beta isn't when you release an unfinished game... it's when its feature complete and it's just to iron out bugs and get feedback on how it feels to use to make sure it's ready for launch. It's the last step prior to launch.
This looks like it's still in development, pre alpha.

@@newscumskate9631 the point of this beta launch is for the community to help mold the game into what they want. The standout is the free physics. Otherwise, yeah… much of it is a blank slate with placeholders. But no game-type gives players the control that a free/open physics sim provides, regardless the genre. It will get there, just watch.

This looks interesting. I see skater xl in their with a little bit of session yet with its own unique control system. Going to be a while I imagine before we see some major updates but pretty cool.
I’ve been waiting on this to come to PC/console since probably like 2014ish. It’s a shame that it has all of the makings of a mobile game still. To that end, the mobile version is far superior, although frustrating and a little odd at times. But I’m stoked to see more skateboarding games, in general. Hoping this gets a lot of needed polish and they are receptive to constructive criticism.

It seems that the control scheme is all they've worked on since they showed this in 2017 on the berrics
When they explained their original control scheme I really didn't expect this to ever actually release, the steam page I think made it seem like they're still trying to integrate using your phone as a controller tho so.. I'm not worried for our boys at creature

@@derfmode What sucks for this, Session and SXL is how they all released around the same time more or less n EA just decided "hey there's a market, go get the blackbox guys to work on unfinished skate 3 content n make it F2P" totally screwing over the indie devs..
I don't think this or Session could've come out many years prior, SXL could've been made 7 years ago n not had to compete but damn the situation kinda sucks right now

i like the free physics idea, but it looks rather floaty and wonky in general.. Also given how long this is out for mobile, i'd like to know a little bit more about their update plans etc. Sticking to Session for obvious reasons, but keeping a loose eye on that one as well.
you want to know more about the mobile game history over the last decade.. and update plans. Basically OC future.. it’s based on the community feedback. They put an email specific to the PC game right into the launch of the game, because they want to mold everything around community feedback. As for the mobile updates… we still get them constantly after 10 years. It’s still the #1 paid sports app in the App Store for 10 years. NBA can’t even keep titles above it.. no one can lol. And it’s a skate game. But that’s not saying much, most mobile games are absolute trash. And I say that as a TrueSkate mobile player lol. The app is like a unicorn. People often compare the mobile game to session or SXL in comments.. which is both absurd and a huge compliment really. It’s a mobile game. Those are console/PC games.
True Skate brought us Love Park & Macba maps, to scale, with photorealistic textures… at a time before any dev team had ever even managed to do that yet on console properly (pre SXL). Yet True Skate managed it on a phone somehow. They also brought us DIY pieces placeable anywhere, on mobile. Now there is a whole mod community creating custom DIY pieces, custom maps, custom closing mods… all on mod io. Which is actually kind of insane because the app is official on the App Store. They had to put mods behind a low subscription fee, but that’s the Apple/Google game, and at least they made it work. I mean, we don’t see console games slipping full on mod communities into official platforms that way for a small fee, even though most of their users would love the option. The mobile game also has custom camera FOV, distortion, zoom, height, distance etc… with keyframes, and motion camera/tripod keyframes can be blended (if the user knows what they are doing, like any game.) honestly, I can’t even think of another game that has things like customizable clothing, replay editors with keyframes and tripod cameras and custom lens settings… Side loadable community made custom maps like el toro, Clipper, Carlsbad, THPS map remakes, list goes on… all on a mobile device. It’s absolutely unheard of. The app is a unicorn honestly, most people can’t fathom a mobile game even has the features so they never even know they are there. After a decade maxing out mobile, I’m excited to see what they do now that they are focusing in on PC & unreal engine. The evolution continues
@@derfmodeI’ve been playing this game since my first iPod touch. First game I ever spent money on. I’ve had it since there was only one map. I made it to the true skate team and was apart of the group of players that competed in different challenges and games on discord. We all became friends and we really all ages together. This game is awesome honestly I’ll probably never stop playing it
When we were testing. It took me a minute to find keyframes too. Very fair video on TS 🤘
Upon first launch of the replay editor, the keyframe buttons never showed up, but after I exited the replay then went back into it they were there. Very strange

Man I love true skate and I'd completely support this no matter what and if you really loved skateboarding games you'd definitely would of played true skate before especially considering how amazing this game was on mobile. I really loved it for the realism of it
First of all *would have. Second of all, you should never be this attached to a video game. It's 'realism' needs a hell of a lot of work.

I was excited to see this. But seeing people play it. It feels like they just ported it from mobile and added a dude to it and converted the screen controllers to a controller. Just like they showcased 5 years ago with the big screen thing. Feels like a cash grab? Did they release a road map. I'll wait for the first major update to see if I'm gonna drop 20 on this.

I used to play on my phone 10 years ago.. imo it is the best physics for a board if you use your fingers... idk wtf they are trying to do adding character models. Looks so broken now
There's a level of jank and "mobile port" feel to this that makes me feel like it's just True Skate Big Screen with a new UI, and if that is the case, this looks really bad for the amount of time it's been worked on. If this is a completely new game, there are some paradigm shifts that need to happen for this to be a proper skateboarding simulation rather than a skateboarding themed physics simulation. The biggest shift they ought to make is the controls. The way they currently work more or less emulates a touch screen, and not only is that just plain inefficient use of a controller, but it's bad design. It feels like rather than your controller inputs simulating how you'd use your legs to skate in real life, it simulates how your hand plays True Skate on mobile.
The other thing i feel they should focus on is the skater animations. Currently, the board is way smoother and free moving than the skater, and that give the game a feeling of playing the board, like the mobile game, rather than playing a skateboarder.
It doesn't make me want to try it actually. I know i'm not gonna like... I will keep an eye on the development.
If they just used the current skate sim controls this could be pretty decent don't know why they had to make it so complicating when it doesn't need to be
You are right. In real life, skateboarding is too easy and people learn it all in like a week. Skate sims should be the same way. Wait..
@@derfmode session is far from an easy game to get used to which is why half the people end up giving up before they actually get good i been skating for going on 30 years and def has most realistic skate controls that make sence to date so don't know what ur going on about these controls with the bumpers and shit to control feet ain't it and everyone who's actually tried the game have said the same shit to go the session and XL control route

I could never get used to touch controls of true skate I currently have an android phone and can't use a controller (unless an update happened during the time I forgot this game existed). I'm happy this exists because I've been curious as to how true skate played on controller.
You can use a controller on your mobile version as long as you can connect it to your phone (unless they removed the option I haven't checked in ages)

This looks terrible, especially for the price they have on Steam atm. I remember buying Session in early access for almost nothing and it was quite good already. Here I feel like playing THPS3 without 3D acceleration graphic card and lack of other components... If won't fall below 15 bucks I'm not giving it a try.
Derfmode lol, I've played the mobile game for 7+ years but I do NOT back this, its just a cash grab. The devs do not skate and have not listened to the community for years, so what makes ya think they will this time? It'll just be another Easy Day Studios scenario. I will definitely just be sticking with Session because this game looks horrendous now and the controls are way too much and don't make sense. I know it's early access but it'll never live up to the other games already on the market as well as Skate.
they really should have started fresh for this, maybe 10 years ago this would be a true sim but with Session and XL why would you play this? the only good thing was that it was mobile.

They are reaching so hard. This is hardly playable and that’s being nice, if they work on the physics and fix the massive amount of jank then maybe, just maybe, you can compete with xl or session
It has a very long way to go if it wants to live up to their tagline “the True Skateboarding Sim”
Lots of work needs to be done, so hopefully they are truly up to the task.
I play alot of true skate and I will say that I am disappointed, it looks nothing like the mobile version and it looks so wonky and strange. It is too expensive for how bad it is.

Just because it doesn’t look good right now doesn’t mean it’s not still a sim.
Remember, this is a mobile game that is ported to PC and now being worked on to be a better sim to compete with Session and XL. Still early access so we will have to wait and see how true skate turns out
