    In the Original show, Yakko was a MACHINE GUN of wit. He spoke quickly, he was fast to confuse you, when he talked smack, his words basically slapped you with how fast they were.

The three also lacked they're original childlike "innocence". And the voices, Dot sounds more like Daisy Duck rather than her original high pitch voice, Yakko's voice is somewhat higher, and Brain's voice is full of emotion opposed to his original monotone voice, but Wakko, Pinky, Sratchinsniff, Ralph, Plotz and Slappy's voice sound the same.

Definitely didn’t help that the reboot excluded many of the characters from the original show I mean I get that the guy who voiced Pesto and the Godpiegion from the GoodFeathers segments died and Bernadette Peters the voice actress for Rita is expensive but I still feel they still could’ve had Slappy and Skippy Segments,Katie Kaboom Segments and probably age her up,and still could have had the occasional Rita and Runt segment. And heck with the favoritism for Pinky and the Brain you pointed out they might as well have rebooted the Pinky and the Brain spin-off instead.

    • @Endore5000

      I'm pretty sure there must have been many reasons why they only brought back the Warners and Pinky and the Brain, like there is no world where it was possible to bring back more segments but rejected the idea to put limits on their creativity. 90's cartoons had a kind of charm and humor to them that most modern cartoons just can't seem to replicate. The Tiny Toons reboot had the same issue of all the wackiness being evaporated from it. Slapstick and clever word play get replaced with references and memes that are outdated by the time the episode airs. It makes everything feel very stale and corporate. For the most part it kinda made sense to slash the skits like Rita and runt/ the hip hippos were boring in the OG but but not doing the good feathers and the squirrels was so baffling. I loved the reboot. It's different from the original but it works at what it goes for. I've always said the reboot is closer to a sitcom format.
    That whole "some of the executives being anti-Animaniacs" report was grossly exaggerated. They didn't like the side characters. I don't like most of them either but I still love the original.
    To my understanding it was canceled bc Hulu's rights to Animaniacs expired. I see all of your points but I wholeheartedly disagree with Dot hating men or the trio no longer being chaotic, there are several examples in the reboot of Dot adoring men. She never says anything that could imply she wants no rights for males. Her flirting is lessened from how overplayed it was in the original (which was my biggest issue with 1993 Animaniacs, each rewatch makes me realize how experimental and tedious it was a lot of the time) but it is there and I didn't consider its dial back jarring. She's an outspoken advocate for feminism and I think her overzealousness can come across as prejudiced. What I favor about the reboot's writing/storytelling is it focuses on more grounded stories whereas the original was 90% Looney Tunes skit in its simplest form and I am all for that. The Warners giving disfigured mutated clones of them a new leash on life was heartwarming and the reboot has more of that depth and emotional whiplash.

    I think the problem is that the Warners are the center of the show. Don’t get me wrong I love them. but Putting them as the mainmain characters means there characters need to be more fleshed out ,because they don’t exactly have limited screen time.
    And I think it all went wrong fleshing them out. See in this Wakkos a bit more of a dumb dumb , dots a bit more aggressive in the way she aproches things, and Yakko can sometimes used as comic relief instead of always having one liners. I am not saying that those traits are bad. I am just saying that traits are token as one dimensional. Because honestly I think there’s more to them with that. And I feel like having a more down to earth episode would of helped with that.

    Also, there's a reason you don't just let a child babble into a mic for your dialogue...it's so formless and disconnected that it's INCREDIBLY distracting, especially if you're trying to be linear like they are (within the segment). Even younger than Elmyra, Mindy and Buttons did that aspect so much better. Even the name Cindy just reminds me I could be watching Mindy instead of this rip-off.

    I’m very mixed about the reboot. On one hand the writing was sometimes falling flat with jokes not hitting the mark and quite frankly the music is just unmemorable for the most part sadly. Also the show focused WAY too much on the Warners and Pinky and the brain, I missed Slappy Squirrel and the Goodfeathers.
    On the positive side, seeing the warners again is great and there were some ideas in this show I REALLY liked. I did like the new CEO, at first I didn’t know how to react but she grew on me. A part of me believes that if they DID get a season 4, it would’ve been the best bc it seems the writers started figuring out how to write the show and even brought back certain characters in S3. Sure most where just Easter eggs but was better then nothing

    • @Endore5000
      @Endore5000  5 месяцев назад

      I also feel like another season would’ve been much better, they experimented and learned what worked and what didn’t, but at the same time to apply all the criticism would’ve meant not producing season 4 at all until season 3 released and animation takes a long time so it may have just been alright at best anyway.

    Imo so far I'd rate the reboot a solid 9/10 just from watching the first two episodes. The new Pinky and the Brain intro is absolutely well done and so appealing...but it's disappointing that's the only other variety we had besides the animaniacs.
    But then again I think the reboot's that way because:
    1. The writers were probably overwhelmed with the amount of other characters they would have to fit in, like Slappy and Goodfeathers. Also I think it's because they wanted the OG actors to voice the characters (i think some of them either passed away or dropped out, i did some research)
    2. Characters like Hello Nurse, Minerva and the joke with them and the Warner brothers would have caused some people today to riot and cancel the show. Also since the OG was made in the 90s most of the humor there wouldn't slide today.

    The reason that the reboot was a mess and got cancelled after three seasons was because the people in charge of it was pandering to a group that never liked anything about the original 93 series (or anything that's fun for that matter). Which is why we have a dialed backed Yakko, wacko doing gross out rather thsn being funny and Dot being an embodiment of modern feminism. Why we also have human characters on the show that look bowling shoe UGLY, and why Hello nurse is not in the reboot let alone not the new CEO of wandner brothers. It's also the reason that so many of the jokes are bashing right wingers and never left wingers. ln other words the reboot was made for humorless fun hating man haters with far left views.

      Definitely didn’t help they didn’t bring back the original staff. Plus the unequal comedy just repeatingly hating on the same people over and over again got old quick. But 3 seasons is actually really decent of a run, most shows get cancelled immediately nowadays so Animaniacs got really lucky on that front.

    I may be the minority of the people in this comment section, but I personally agree that this series was indeed a humongous train wreck, made by people who neither understood or cared about the original or its fans, more so as, like many modern series, it spent a lot of time trying to be "Woke" and gave almost every character a good and proper butchering.
    I'd be remissed likewise if I weren't to mention the scene at 19:37 that combines two of my least favorite things, zombies and body horror with an inappropriate joke thrown on top! Yaaaaaay....🤢But as an aside, who thought adding gross out to this show was a good idea? The original rarely had any gross out at all; even the moments which might have been considered "Gross outs" by some, such as the Potty Emergency episode, the Great Wakkorotti segments and the two times the Warners showed people mouths full of chewed up food truly never felt particularly gross, they felt more kind of "There."(And actually quite funny.)

      @Endore5000  Год назад +2

      I’m pretty sure that being “woke” was not involved with what happened to the show’s quality. The writing was poor, that was the main problem.

      @@Endore5000 I very much agree that the writing was the biggest issue, more so as the Warners were now shells of their former selves. The addition of a lot of over the top gross out humor only made things worse as well.
