    Another TIP: Label the Frame on the skinny end, near center pin. So you can see the frame while it lives on the cart. Way faster to grab off the cart

    Thank you for the shout out, Dave! I like that extra bendy tip. Good use a blow torch too. Keep up the good work.

    Great video but what about round frames? Snot tape doesn't work as well

  • @billyb6001
    @billyb6001 6 лет назад

    We generally just put the snot tape directly on the frame.

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  6 лет назад

      Billy b you shouldn’t do that, cause then I have spend time scraping it off, per the beginning of the episode

    Nice one! One question, are these frames aluminium or steel? Are they magnetic? Thx

      Aluminum and no

    Okay but the more important question is what guitars do you have?

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  7 лет назад

      Rob Logan hahaha, the sunburst is just a les Paul epiphone with Seymour Duncan pickups. I play a ton of metal. The other 4 guitars/ basses you see are my roommates. Not sure what they are. He built one of them

    • @filmsofrob
      @filmsofrob 7 лет назад

      Alright... let's jam. However, I believe you need a Rickenbacker. (Metal is fun to play but limited).

    Any idea why it's called skinning a frame when you're actually adding something to it vs something like skinning a deer, which removes something?

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  7 лет назад +3

      Gareth Ng I think it can go either way. Like skinning a drum?

    Is it me or is Opal a pain in the ass to skin? Any tips on getting Opal right?

  • @matthewroper3432
    @matthewroper3432 7 лет назад

    Hey man, just wondering if there's any advantage using these over the matthews' 4x4 silk? Cheers

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  7 лет назад +1

      Matthew Roper eh, that's kind of a hard question answer as it really depends what you, the eye, want it to look like. With these you can choose different diffusions. With a silk you are stuck with one type. With these you can do 216, 250, 251, opal, frost, etc. but it's really up to what YOU like to see. I hope that helps? These are more versatile but you still need the rolls of diffusion so the cost is about the same. Idk man. Like I said, kind of a hard question to answer as it's subjective to the DP.

    Hey man, I know you already kind of covered it sort of, but would it be worth it to do a video about autopoles? I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it to just buy an auto pole rather than make the spreaders. Can they hold about the same amount of weight you think? Thanks

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  7 лет назад +1

      JLZ FILMS it all depends what the weight capacity is. Personally in my experience, autopoles/ matthpoles are really not too reliable. Also the hardware from the tube stretcher can be used outside of just stretching walls. Check out my EA pipe episode to see what I mean

    Consider taking the snot tape out of the equation and just using #1 spring clamps to bite corners. Just slap the roll against the top of the frame, bite on each side with #1's, unroll and bite, cut, then tape.

      Bicycle Ninja It’s the numerical name of the diffusion. 216 is Full White Diffusion
