I sang this 6 years ago in choir 8th grade. I was the lead alto and a close friend of mine was the head soprano. I still sing this song randomly around the house :)
I had the honor and privilege to sing this beautiful song with my dear friend, the late Theodosia Young Boston ( soprano ) at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 5 Glebe St. Charleston SC. My mother, the late Sarah Finley Dowling, also a sopranist was alive to hear it. Alphonso Brown, accompanist. Rachel Naomi Dowling
That was simply flawless, and as a fellow soprano, I know how hard is it to do a song like this with such purity and elegance. Wonderful, wonderful performance.
Bravo to the Mezzo. It is very difficult as you have to grab the harmony note out of thin air twice in this piece. The soprano part is easy compared to it.
Both parts are difficult. The higher soprano part has quite a few jumps that are difficult to make. Also, they have to sing both very high and very quiet in some sections, this is extremely difficult to do. Neither part is easy.
Hmmm. Anyone who has significant choral experience could find those notes pretty easily..... There are FAR more challenging pieces out there. The beauty of this is in its simplicity, not in the technical difficulty.

Thank you so much! They always work so hard on phrasing...their teacher always told them that's what music is all about: phrase it well so people know what you're saying and feel what you're feeling!
I love this song and my daughter and a friend sang it just as beautfully at their baccalaureate. These talented girls are as close as I can come to duplicating them since our 'attempt' at recording only recorded muffled sounds for 30 seconds. : (
That was so beautiful. Two beautiful clear voices. It's amazing that the only false note was hit by the accompanist. Isn't Webber's Pie Jesu just wonderful and pure? How did Mozart, Bach, Bizet and Delibes miss such a moving combination of notes? Just when you think everything worth writing has been said, along comes another....
fabulous..one of the best that I have heard so far. I was going to sing this in my recital in college with my friend, Derek but it didn't happen unfortunately. I sang the lower part. It is hard but once you get it right, it is beautiful...Good job both of you!
Sound is good but would be more connected if they communicated with each other using their body language. I would LOVE to see this performance again w/ them turned slightly inward giving occassional eye contact to each other. Would make the sound even better.

This is one of the best renditions of Pie Jesu I've heard. Very nicely done! I'm using it to help me learn the second soprano part.
