- The iconic dance sequence from An American In Paris the musical in full, and performed by Robert Fairchild (Jerry Mulligan) and Leanne Cope (Lise Bouvier).
From An American In Paris (2018): This breathtakingly beautiful Tony Award®-Winning Broadway Musical, inspired by the Oscar® winning MGM film, tells the impassioned story of discovering love in the 'City of Light'. Featuring the gorgeous music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin (including the classic hits 'S Wonderful and I Got Rhythm), stunning designs, and show-stopping choreography. Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. It is rare to see the quality of ballet in a musical is at par to the big name ballet companies. Absolutely loved it.
An American In Paris is no Oklahoma but it is rather something.
@@manuelorozco7760That’s like a redneck sayin’ this here Lexus ain’t no trusty ‘76 Ford pickup….but it is rather something.
The ENTIRE ballet? Thank you so much!!!
This is One Of My Favorite Scenes When I Watched This!!!
This deserved a way longer run on Broadway/West End than it had. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another musical like this. And the top-tier ballet isn’t just a “one-off” “dream ballet sequence” in every other Broadway show attempting to inject ballet into their show. Having ballet throughout the show with a jazzsical score is just phenomenal.
This is one of the best musicals on the stage today. The design and the orchestrations are both world class as are the dancers and performances. Hugely enjoable piece of the theatre with all creative elements coalescing into a near perfect whole.
I feel so lucky to have seen this twice and it is even more magical seeing it live and up close. Gershwin's music and Robbie and Leanne are exquisite. One of the most incredible performances I have ever seen! I cried!
With you! I saw it in Sydney…3 times! Superb! What a treat! 👏⭐️👏
I think 11:04-11:26 is my favourite moment, choreography-wise, in the entire show. Makes my jaw drop every single time!
I’m not usually into ballet. But this has to be some of the most inventive choreography I’ve seen on any stage! Especially with the chemistry between Robert and LeeAnn.
You should check out the Royal Ballet. They do really great work especially with some of their modern shows like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland or Frankenstein.
@@reyb.7918 I don’t live in the UK so that’s quite impossible.
@@manuelorozco7760 Don’t worry. They have tons of videos on their RUclips channel. I’ve also bought a pro shot of there’s.
These two make an amazing dance pair. I could watch Robbie dance and sing all day, all week ! This was so good. Loved it.
Robert is as good of a dancer as his sister
🎶"I love a Gershwin tune, how about you?" The orchestra is on pointe as are these mesmerizing dancers. The crescendos & decrescendos gave me chills all the way to my legs! Brava & bravo!
Speaking of Gershwin, I’m torn between An American In Paris and Nice Work If You Can Get It
@@manuelorozco7760Rhapsody In Blue.. Someone To Watch Over Me...I named a dog I had rescued from the street after he had been hit by a car. I was playing the aforementioned piece on my piano when this black Chow-Lab mix began scratching at my feet. Three days of trying different names--none did he like until the Gershwin tune was being played. I asked him: Ira? George? Gershwin? And so Gershwin it was. He was about two & lived til age 20. Why can't dogs live as long as humans are supposed to?
@@quirkyquips9915 I don’t get your point
My point is I love Gershwin music so much that I named a dog that I rescued after being hit by a car and he loved that name he loved their music as much as I.
Do you get the point now?
@@quirkyquips9915 Ok
4:50 the trumpet part always gets me. It's so beautiful.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
This show was absobloodylutely fantastic!💜
S'marvelous!!!
I love😍 this part of the show so much: where the music & ballet combine so well with the contemporary, modern, Art of the 1940/50s. With the costume's primary colours: reflecting Piet Mondriaan, and the moving stage & background elements reminding me of Lajos Kassák's work. 👌🏻
Awesome ballet performance of an awesome piece
I remember watching this live on Broadway absolutely phenomenal sequence
Oh man, if I ever get to see this on stage I would lose my mind in happiness! This was great!
I just saw it last night (My second time) as they are currently doing the show here in Australia with the same leads. I cried!! I hope you got to see it.
This was beautiful!! I absolutely love ballet
I’m more into musical theatre. But I wouldn’t mind ballet once in a while
I love an American in Paris it’s one of my favourite movies.
Such a beautiful dance sequence by the lady and gentleman in black.
Wonderful scene thank you!
Leanne Cope es fantástica.
This is just delightful!
I can watch this number every day of my life and still find something new to to admire! Christopher Wheeldon is pure genius and Robbie Fairchild and Leanne Cope are pure artistry! I hope I will be able to travel soon so I can see Christopher’s newest MJ on Broadway! 😘⭕️❌🎉🤸♀️🤗❤️❣️
Great play and music !
Magnificent!
Amazing!
Who would give this a thumbs down?
Çokk güzell 😇
Yes!!!! Love this movie. Give me anything with Gene Kelly..
Xanadu made me a fan of him
@@manuelorozco7760 First musical Gene Kelly movie I watched was Brigadoon and I fell in love.
@@valentinogal781 But my favorite of his movies is the Pirate
@manuelorozco7760 The Pirate is an excellent movie. I love Singing In The Rain.
@@valentinogal781 I’m not crazy about Singin In The Rain but I do like it.
¡Bravo!. ¿Cuándo vienen por Madrid (Spain)?.
Are you going to show this musical again?
It is on DailyMotion.
@@brianaustin5467 of course it is
Does anyone know how they did her dress change at 4:33?
I think you can see that on her second entrance with the yellow dress, it is a 'quick change' dress (she has on long white sleeves, covering the black dress under). So it probably has a velcro (or something similar) seam to just pull the dress off revealing the black underneath - then another dancer takes the yellow dress off. I'm no costume designer, just an avid musical lover so this is all just speculation.
Thank you! I figured that's what it had to be, but I couldn't for the life of me pin down where the quick change dress went or which dancer ended up with it.
@@CaptainMargaret42 My theory is that a different dancer comes on in the yellow dress just for the “change” part, with Leanne, now in the black dress hiding behind the shape on stage. In the darkness, and general melee, the two Lises change places, with yellow Lise going behind the shape as black Lise rises up, ready for that gorgeous dance.
goddam f**** commercials ... you guys have money! what the hell
I love Gene Kelly but when you watch this movie again he is a full blown stalker in it.
Times and the way we see & judge films have changed so much.😔 Even "Bradpack"/John Hughes movies (which I loved), from the 80s, look very 🤨 "problematic" to me now. ✌🏻
That's because our culture has become ridiculously oversensitive and pedantic. Just enjoy the movie, times were simpler then.
@@janehollander1934The only one those I can watch over and over is Ferris Buehler
