praying that classic hawaiian music makes a comeback. Many of my friends listen to stuff like Jboog and Rap from the mainland, plenty music with stink attitude. I try play classics like Dennis, Moke Boy and Benitiez, etc in hopes that they will embrace the music of their fathers, wholesome music that's pono with the mind and spirit. Big mahalo for sharing!
@@kalahuiohawaiinei1466 Mahalo for the correction. I see he debuted it at a sovereignty rally in '77. Is it possible he found the lyrics? I don't remember where I heard the fence post story, but it was shortly after Dennis's album came out. Btw, Uncle Don was right😂
@@now_ya-know68 True dat, tho Don did sing it at his shows idk how often. I'm not sure about the fence post tho it seems like that would happen in hawaii😂 I heard the story from my dad who said that his father was fixing equipment in Don's studio and Liko showed up and sang the song.
Yup, True. My Grandfather was working on Dons studio equipment when Liko came in and was trying to get Don onboard but he told him you need a better singer for that song 😂
The Golden voice of Hawaii

I heard he found the lyrics to the chorus nailed to a fence post on a side road on the Big Island and wrote a song around them.
Liko martin wrote this song for Don Ho and Don told him to find a better Vocalist.
