Just grabbed mine today and initial thought: fkn amazing I don't enjoy shooting my staccato c2 and actually shoot my m&p 2.0 5in with apex much better. Cz shadow 2 with lok grips has been my favorite. And this sig just blew it away for me! Got it with the romeo x pro red dot and it's the only pistol I have that I have absolutely no problem tracking my dot it just does a little jump and never leaves the window. Based on that statement alone you should be able to tell I'm no professional... lol but this sig is a cheat code. First time I feel like I actually bought a bit of skill haha Excited to get my x300 and holster tomorrow and see how a bit of weight up front changes things
I bought a P220 a few years ago and it’s the best handgun I’ve ever shot. I haven’t been a fan of other SIGs, but they did a damn good job with the 220/226s
Bought a P226 Lesion like 5 months before the X5 legion came out. I don't regret my purchase, just that i can't afford the X5 legion. Such a gorgeous variant of an already perfect firearm.
You can tell your lady has been shooting a lot.. she’s doing good… that’s a awesome looking Sig.. I have the mk 25 and the m11a1 but 2300 is a little bit steep for me… thanks buddy…
Love my Sig 226 and 229s. One clear feature I love on the Sig vs M1911 (and most 2011's) is that they do NOT have a friggin grip safety! That alone makes the SA only X5 one I have to look into as being my next race pistola
When you factor in price, this 226 is hard to beat. If you have unlimited funds, then a Nighthawk is and will always be a Nighthawk. As for the 2011 I have a Staccato C2 Limited and this Sig. The sig is heavier and shoots softer. It is a toss up to me
@lazybear236 Many would agree with you, and many wouldn't. That's a total preference thing. I like the shadow 2, but it is heavy and slower than a 2011. Still shoots great
@@lazybear236 100% Agree. I came close to getting one of these, but for the same price I got a Shadow 2 OR, Cajunized, a Trijicon RMR HD, and a dope cerakote.
I have this pistol and love it. I did change out the sights though. I bought the standard x5 black rear sight and bought a Dawson 240x.125 fiber optic front and it has allowed me to be much faster and more accurate. The standard x5 legion front sight is too wide for any precision.
I've had my Legion X5 for almost a year. It's a fine pistol. I use it as a duty pistol. I shoot a lot. Every weekend probably a thousand a month. The fibre optic in the front sight came out. This is why daily weapon checks are so important. As I use it as duty pistol I am waiting for suppressor-height sights from Dawson. However, I had to change the plate as the rear sight is fixed, and sight is attached to the optic plate. I'm waiting for the new sights to arrive. The plate cost me $100. Sights another $100. I would have gone with the DH3. Once I get the set up right. I will assess.
Technically not a baby brother of the P226. The P229 was designed around the .40 S&W and the P226 was designed around the 9mm. The guns appear identical and their mechanics certainly are but they’re two different designs.
While not a Legion. My cousin brought over his Sig P226 last night. He loves it and his p229. I will say it's definitely the 2nd biggest grip for a gun i've held outside of the Beretta M9. Though it's been a number of years since I held that M9. But the gun itself was so dang nice. The trigger especially in single action felt buttery. Can't wait to go with him soon to shoot it. I'm definitely looking more into DA/SA hammer fire guns now for my first vs striker fire. Though I still haven't 100% decided which way I want to go yet.
I could not believe how light the trigger on mine was. The gun is expensive, but man what a fantastic shooter! Thanks for the video, you guys! Also, Mrs. Outlaw is getting so good at shooting. Her implication that you and the P226 should move in together made me LOL! 😂😂
I had some out of battery discharges w my 229. Sig told me it was my ammo and didn’t wanna fix anything other than the extractor so I switched to sa prodigy for my Uspsa gun
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290worn disconnect. I’ve been waiting for this review and missed it 😂. I got one of these about two months ago, and can’t put it down. Shot it this morning, and watching this is making me want to go back to the range.
I'm sure it would be no match for the p226, but I recently bought a PX9 Gen3 that uses the same mags. I absolutely love it. It has a really nice 3.5-4lb trigger. For less than $300, this thing is really impressive.
Great review. I definitely prefer these to 2011s. Just as shootable and much less finicky with ammo and mags. Given the feature set, they are an incredibly value.
I loved my Sig Sauer P226. At 21 feet, you could put a smiley face on a silhouette target as fast as you could pull the trigger. ') Picked mine up in the late eighties. Unfortunately, in 2,000 it melted in a barn fire. Along with my browning bar 270 rem mag. and my browning bar 7mm rem mag. With matching Leupold Scopes. 44mm objective lenses. Both of them were absolute tac drivers. It was a sad day for sure. Insurance covered some but not enough to replace any of them. Too many other things to replace first. The new sig looks amazing. Thank you both for the review. Right on target 🎯 ✌️🤟🖖

On top of the comp and the dual-stage buffered recoil spring, the grip plates are tungsten infused polymer similar to the 320 TXG grip modules. So there's more weight distributed into your hand below the bore axis. A little surprised you didn't mention the 4-way adjustable trigger. Would love to hear your preferred tuning setup for it is if you've had the chance to tweak the pre-travel and overtravel. Because if you think that take-up and reset are crazy out of the box..
First time I ever spent $50 on a mug. Never spent $1200 on a pistol before either until I just bought the p365 axg legion. Hopefully I get the golden ticket. My birthday is at the end of this month.......Oh man!!!!!!
Definitely push it and see how fast it really is as compared to the CZ shadow 2 and a comparable sized 2011. First gun was a p226 extreme and still shoots like a dream and never had a malfunction.
I have the sig, the cz and the canik steel frame, the cz s2 full size base model will require about $700 worth of upgrades (milling and parts from trigger job and trigger show and magwell), which will push it to the 2k mark(unless you get the Orange version for $2400 custom with gas pedal out of the box, so for the sig with all the bells and whistles already installed out of the box for 2100 is not bad. For the shooting and the performance, they are very similar and it comes down to which gun fits u better, I like the cz speed but the sig fits my hands better . Don't even try to bring the pos canik (which is basically a stolen Walther PPQ match design) into this comparison. I haven't tried the TTI version. my 2 cents on the subject
Have all but the canik and the 226 x5 legion is hands down the better shooter even over staccato. But that's my personal opinion. The x5 is the only pistol I own that the dot doesn't jump out of the window. It feels slow in a good way. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. And I paid 2400 out the door with the romeo x included. Would have been about 2800 had I got them separately
I help one and hands down liked it better in my hand then the staccato P. I will be getting one when the commander in chief (wife) allows me to. Great review ✊🏾
Solid video! I love Sig (not a fan boy) the P226, P229, and a couple of others are great. I would live to get one of these and to see how it compares to a 2011.
Only thing I’d like to say is the mags have marking and peep holes up to the 18 round mark. But they are 20 round mags. When I got mine I thought they were 18’s as well. Shoved two more in with ease then went on the website and confirmed they are 20’s

Who is this sig armorer? I’ll have to send my P229 to them as well.
@@moloono1Sig has a program on its website. You can sign up and send your gun to SIG.
Just grabbed mine today and initial thought: fkn amazing
I don't enjoy shooting my staccato c2 and actually shoot my m&p 2.0 5in with apex much better. First time I feel like I actually bought a bit of skill haha
Excited to get my x300 and holster tomorrow and see how a bit of weight up front changes things
I bought a P220 a few years ago and it’s the best handgun I’ve ever shot. I haven’t been a fan of other SIGs, but they did a damn good job with the 220/226s
Nice thanks you guys. Mrs. O is getting better and better! I'd like to see the gun without the extra weight (x300) on the front end.
Thanks for this review. I was saving for a Staccato as my 1st 2011, but I might go this route instead.
Bought a P226 Lesion like 5 months before the X5 legion came out. I don't regret my purchase, just that i can't afford the X5 legion. Such a gorgeous variant of an already perfect firearm.
Impressive recoil control, Mrs Outlaw. 🙌
You can tell your lady has been shooting a lot.. she’s doing good… that’s a awesome looking Sig.. I have the mk 25 and the m11a1 but 2300 is a little bit steep for me… thanks buddy…
Definitely call Nick and put that thing on the clock. Love your videos brother. Keep doing the good work.
Great 1st shots Chris!
Yeah, do more vids with this gun please
110 out with a 20mph side wind, sniper pistol...... Looks like an amazing weapon. Thanks for the vid.
Love my Sig 226 and 229s. One clear feature I love on the Sig vs M1911 (and most 2011's) is that they do NOT have a friggin grip safety! That alone makes the SA only X5 one I have to look into as being my next race pistola
Just got mine. I think it’s better than a 2011 for a defensive pistol based on reliability alone.
Head to head to head
X5 vs. Shadow 2 vs. 2011 (I know it’s probably gone already, but I think the Nighthawk would be a great comparison)
When you factor in price, this 226 is hard to beat. If you have unlimited funds, then a Nighthawk is and will always be a Nighthawk. As for the 2011 I have a Staccato C2 Limited and this Sig. The sig is heavier and shoots softer. It is a toss up to me
For the money I don't see how you beat a Shadow 2 optics ready when it's often on sale for 1200 or less, for a range or comp gun.
From my understanding, the grip panels are TXG or tungsten infused polymer, not G10. I really want them to make TXG grip panels for the 320 AXG
Love the classic Sig line. Great pistols!
Love the 229 elite… baby brother of 226, very accurate and reliable, shoots all types 9,
Technically not a baby brother of the P226. The P229 was designed around the .40 S&W and the P226 was designed around the 9mm. The guns appear identical and their mechanics certainly are but they’re two different designs.
Yes, a comparison! Thank you
Seeing Mrs O. shoot it so well gives me hope. The ejection was amazing ! Like in a plastic red cup...
You know it's an awesome pistol when even Mrs. Outlaw is making those plates ring and making sweet music.
The trigger weight is actually adjustable. There is an Allen bolt at the front of the trigger guard. Trigger can be adjusted between 2.5-4.0lbs
I picked this one up a few months ago when it 1st came available. Shoots fantastic!!
This is a supergun, for the price, when compared to the 2011s it is phenomenal. I have this pistol. It has got to be a top-10 production gun.
Geees, the only thing it’s missing from a 2011 standpoint is the 2011 grip angle. Beautiful piece!
Yes! Please compare to your CZ! Also, is there a 229 version of this with a similar trigger? Would like your thoughts on DA/SA over just SA
I got to carry a 226 in the military and I loved it. I might have to get one of these!
Carried, never used.
Got one, as well as the 320 X5 Legion. LOVE them both!!
Love this gun. Mine has a Holosun comp red dot. Crazy accurate
Never heard about that problem on a p22x. What do you think the problem was, and when did it happen while shooting?
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290worn disconnect. Plus the guys I shoot with are retired and shoot ALOT they say it’s not to uncommon to see a few per season from sigs but that’s considered antidotal evidence but mine started doing it at around 10 k of rounds. Sig did not listen to me. I have kept my legion for now. My 229 select I traded
@@gregshuttleworth4465 Damn thats too bad. Sig should have done something for you. Good information, thank you.
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290follow up:
So my prodigy had to be sent back to sa they fixed it and in the mean time I bought a life optic for my 229 legion. Have put about 1 k thru it and it runs much better than my old select so I’m back in the carry optics game. If it runs I like it
I’ve been waiting for this review and missed it 😂. I got one of these about two months ago, and can’t put it down. Shot it this morning, and watching this is making me want to go back to the range.
I love how Mrs. Outlaw has better recoil control than Colion Noir. Lol
I'm sure it would be no match for the p226, but I recently bought a PX9 Gen3 that uses the same mags. I absolutely love it. It has a really nice 3.5-4lb trigger. For less than $300, this thing is really impressive.
Can’t believe it’s not optic ready but that certainly didn’t curb your enthusiasm.
Yup..after a dan wesson n les baer I'll never pony up that lvl of money again without an optic cut lol
@jeffrdnck7973 It is optic ready; you remove the rear sight plate and mount the red dot thru the bottom of the slide.
That may be the fastest I’ve ever seen anyone shoot any pistol and get consistent hits. Color me impressed.
A good alternative to all high dollar 2011’s . Very nice !!
The 226 is a beast in any configuration! Fantastic gun. Only thing that kept me from getting 1 is that the controls are strictly right hand 😢😢
That's what cz is for!
Picked mine up in the late eighties.
Chris your still my go to guntuber I'm from Cleveland Ohio and every handgun I've purchased was based off of your recommendation especially the CZ P07 which they've discontinued I wish I had a friend like you and my wife was a shooter like yours 😅 thank you for providing awesome content to educate the ignorant Salute bro. 👍 #2AFamily
P07 is not discontinued. Only certain colors/configurations.
OH!!
Just found this channel and am enjoying it, just started getting into firearms. As my wife and I just made our first purchase on a sig. great channel
Great video and very informative.
But how does it compare to the best guns you can get for $1000? Like the CZ Shadow 2 and the Beretta M9A4 and the new Canik TTI?
That is a fair question. For 2.5x the price, do you get 2.5x the gun?
@@voodoochildish2576 exactly
Ok Chris I have a question for you. Sig P226 X5 Legion or another one of your favorites the Staccato?
Have all but the canik and the 226 x5 legion is hands down the better shooter even over staccato. But that's my personal opinion. The x5 is the only pistol I own that the dot doesn't jump out of the window. It feels slow in a good way. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. And I paid 2400 out the door with the romeo x included. Would have been about 2800 had I got them separately
Shot the X5 custom works SAO. What a masterpiece!
Mrs Outlaw shooting that thing like a 9th level boss!
I just got mine today, and I'm super excited!
Another great video champ.
I help one and hands down liked it better in my hand then the staccato P. I will be getting one when the commander in chief (wife) allows me to. Great review ✊🏾
I’m sure my wife has been putting glue on my firearms collection....
She denies it, but I’m sticking to my guns.
Sorry for the dad joke😂
😂
🤌
Solid video! I love Sig (not a fan boy) the P226, P229, and a couple of others are great. I would live to get one of these and to see how it compares to a 2011.
Only thing I’d like to say is the mags have marking and peep holes up to the 18 round mark. But they are 20 round mags. When I got mine I thought they were 18’s as well. Shoved two more in with ease then went on the website and confirmed they are 20’s
