I had this bike, it was lovely. My first big bike, and I remember the feeling when I first rode it away from the dealership

Fitted a centre stand, double USB point, radiator protection and TEC exhaust system to mine. Just a great do-it-all bike. And that CP2 unit. Awesome. I've done several long trips on it. 1500km down to Antibes over 4 days plus several road trips through the Alps and the Route de Naploeon with top case and luggage. Brilliant. Never missed a beat.

Thanks for very informative and colorful review. I'm more closer to Yamaha now instead of NC750.

Thank you for the review! I like the way you talk, smooth and clear haha real nice, keep it up!
Going to the dealership this saturday to seal the deal on a tracer 700, but I'm getting a bit of cold feet now, wondering if I won't regret it and if I should instead be going with the 900 since I'm 1.91 and I don't intend on buying another bike after this one at all, it'll be a bike for life. But on the other hand, the 900 has overall higher running costs, fuel, maintenance, insurance and road taxes... I do realize it's an awesome bike because that's literally what everyone says, and I have been waiting for the opportunity to buy one for years, but I don't know.. anyways, sorry for the rant. Wasn't planning on it, but here we are haha if you have any input on this, I'd appreciate it I guess! cheers

@@applecorp Haha well, I did go with the 700. The 700's ergonomics are perfect for me, and the power is so much more than I can reasonably use on the street. The 900 was too much of a bike for me! Besides, got a killer price for a brand spanking new 700, it was a service bike but had 0 km on the clock, with the full 2 year warranty.
P.S.: Do take into account that a) I weight 140-145lbs with full gear and that b) I spent 5 years riding a varadero 125 daily, short and long distances.

Are you still happy with the 700 and have there been any problems?
I am considering getting the 700 rather than the 900 due to the weight and ease of moving it around when parking and in the garage.
My other choice is the KTM 790 Duke because of all the safety features.

Nice review. I’m surprised you didn’t cover luggage / side bags. Pretty well a requirement for touring... I don’t see this bike having much on the Versys 650 which comes with some of the best side bags on the market, better wind protection, fully adjustable suspension etc. I like this bike and it’s light weight but I think the Versys 650 wins in my book.

CCShad, I thought the same when I was in the market for a bike last spring. The Versys looked great in the showroom, it had adjustable suspension, remote rear preload adjustment, a very comfortable seat, hard panniers (included for free at the time) without the need for racks, and the whole bike just had a better quality look to it. I was anticipating greatness. Then I rode one and it just didn't do it for me at all. It felt dull to ride and underpowered. A sensible commuter yes, but no fun at all. The Tracer has something that you don't see on the spec sheets and needs to be ridden.

Hi, I tried to do the 900GT back in July and I was actually scheduled to do a review on it when, the day before I I was scheduled to do it, I got a call that they sold the demo. :( And they didn't get in another demo of that this year. Yes, I'm bummed, I would have liked to have done a review on it.
      Ride safe, Scott

@@NothingToProve Hi from Australia. I too, would like to see your review of the Tracer 900GT. I like your reviews from the perspective that you test them in a manner that reflects everyday riding and not what they can do on track days.

Nice review. The Yamaha 700 surely seems a great all-rounder but the Verseys 650 also fairs well. It seems th Verseys is over 10kg more than the Tracer which is quite significant. However, can you confirm if the Tracer 900 is a similar weight to the Verseys 650 which I believe it is ?! If so, this says a lot for Yamahas weight comparisons to a lower cc bike. I am thus persuaded to settle for the 900, since it seems a good compromise with extra power on hand. I am 5' 9". Your confirmation of weight differences and overall suitability for a 900 wld be much appreciated, thank you and safe riding to you.

  • @kevinroberts2395

Which do you favor, the 650 Versys or the MT-07? I hadn't really considered the Yamaha, but now I might.

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  3 года назад +1

Hmm...difficult question. I like the CP2 better than the 650 but I like the practicality of the Versys, not saying that the T7 is not practical, just sayin' the Versys is a tad bit more.
So it really comes down to brand, Kawasaki or Yamaha, both bikes are good and you will love either one, let your heart decide 😁😜

so is the mt-09 tracer bigger bike than that? except the motor?or why you recommend taller rider that?

The Tracer 900 is a big improvement over this bike. The power is better and smoother. The reason I'm buying the 900 is it fits me. At 6.0 feet and 34" inseam, the 34" seat hight is perfect. Also the suspention on the 900 is much better. Plus all the other extras that I need is on the Tracer 900 GT. The Tracer 700 is too small for me.

The OEM's usually do not sell small displacement bikes very much in the states. So, difficult to say. You can get the Tracer 900...it's only 200 cc bigger... :)
