    Pretty impressive they found one specific guy, Knowing his exact location, down to the direction he was facing and took a portrait instead of getting the entire scene.

      Because the Pope definitely doesn't want to prove to the world that Jesus existed as was said in the bible. The entire story is complete nonsense. If this actually existed and the Catholic Church has it, and it showed Jesus was real, they would be speed running to show this to the world.
      So it either doesn't exist and the church wants to keep the mystique of it by saying they have it or it does exist and it shows something devastating to them, like Jesus not existing and the bible is as many already know it is, a fairy tale. They don't want to lose their tax exempt status and be back taxed billions.

    Wow! It amazing that they could pinpoint the exact location of an event down to the meter in 4 dimensions (a few more if you include orientation planes) when even today we don't fully understand our solar system's trajectory through our galaxy or even it's location with even close to that accuracy, let alone relative to the rest of the universe. You would think when they took the device to Jerusalem and looked back even 2 days ago (let alone 2 whole milenia) they would have just seen a starry void, since the earth wouldn't have arrive in that point in space yet. But somehow they even compensated for how the earth moves at hundreds of kilometres a second while rotating around its own axis at thousands of kilometers an hour, all while orbiting the sun at a 60 degree incline relative to the plane of the galaxy (which it is also orbiting) and they did it for long enough to actually get a clear image, instead of a blurry flash.
    Or, it's complete bu11$h!+.

    One thing I believe is true is that our understanding of the universe is highly incomplete. Do I believe that a device could allow the viewing of historical events from our own timeline? No. Because we are constantly moving through space-time in a complex gravitational dance. If you look at the matter in space across all time - any individual particle has a complex path that can be represented as a continuous line from when it was created to the point where it will be destroyed. This line does not and cannot cross any other particle's line entirely - meaning the only interactions are of momentary effects such as electromagnetism and spatial distortion at a rate determined by the temporal vector of the universe's initial creation (objects in motion stay in motion, objects at rest stay at rest, unless acted upon externally - there must be a temporal motion vector and that vector will be variant as will any particle traveling through it, but forces will act upon those particles in groups just like in any other vector). In this observed view it would be impossible to condense the information down to a frame over a time period due to our inability to both know position and vector - the act of measurement and observation affects the target particle creating a discontinuity.
    I believe that if such a device exists... it may have been something similar to an fMRI. Instead of looking into the pasts of our world... it was looking into the mental desires of the people who were using it - displaying at ever increasing resolution the things their minds desired most of all. A Mirror of Erised - taking and attuning to the neural impulses and emissions of the mind of the person manipulating it, and conjuring from that a sequence of events that their own minds would recognize as *expected*. Here a person's expectations would be set to images that they would be forced to accept as genuine as it so accurately matched their expectations.
    I can imagine such a device being used by people expecting to see events of religious or historical significance would produce images quite in line with their expectations and as accurate and believable as their *knowledge* of how things would be. A scholar well versed in historical roman and latin plays might even be able to conjure such images of such a play whole cloth from their expectations, as an example. The key? It would have been of things they studied or have learned over time. A white catholic of the time would undoubtedly see Jesus as a white person - even though they would almost certainly be Aramaic. Even a scholor more informed of things might still see Jesus as common sculpture and displays would depict him - and may lock onto a favored depiction. And they would be inclined to believe that depiction because their own mind generated the image. I'd suspect the device would chose the person handling the device as its source. Therefore people around observing the generated hologram would observe the mind of the operator. I could imagine that this device would be *highly* addictive to the user.
    If such a device was actually tapping into something outside our current space-time... then I say that it would not be able to view the past or the future. Instead - it might be viewing an infinite number of parallel "nows" with any frequency tuning being simply selecting a general vector in the multiverse. A person would see an entire spectrum of vast possibillities - and likely interpret only those possibilities more closely expected by their minds, discarding other information as invalid. In this case, each observer would see something different - filtered through their own mind to match the expectation of what they hoped to see. A parallel universe where a white jesus was being cruified upon a cross that looked identical to some well-known iconography? Entirely possible - and in an infinite universe: inevitable. But each person would interpret their own visions of what was being projected. Some might even have echoes of other events in their mind. Parallel earths where any number of potential possible nows may be - many potentially being incredibly negative or traumatic. I could see these subliminal references driving people mad, or into apathy.

    • @pvalpha
      @pvalpha 8 месяцев назад

      @@Mogorman87 I should be able to as one of my hobbies is writing fiction and science fiction. But my education is in computer science, and I'm well-versed of what fMRI tech is capable of with modern techniques. But if Fermi was involved, I wouldn't doubt some interesting things could be possible there. No physics supports any form of observation of the past or future directly - just as no physics allows for travel at or faster than the speed of light for any physical object outside the duality of the photon. One also implies the other by necessity - if you can view the past then you must be able to view the future - and causality is fully in play. However, there is nothing to say that alternate forms of space-time encapsulation are not possible - only highly improbable - from this concept the many-worlds theories sprout. They will likely be ruled out as our knowledge of the universe advances and our instrumentality improves. The important part is, however, that they exist in direct parallel to our "frame" as it were, and are bound by the same rules our universe follows. Meaning any transition there cannot by necessity allow for frame shifting in the temporal vector. Any apparent bypassing of those rules therefore is highly suspect and a more reasonable explanation must exist. The more reasonable explanation is the device picked up something local - neural impulses generate emf - and amplified it, assuming the device exists in the first place and functions as claimed. It is possible with modern technology to view images generated in the visual cortex - including images generated by thought processes. If the true nature of this device was to view into the mind of a person using it? That would certainly affect "free will" as it were. You could put a person under the reading of such a device and extract any information from them by mentioning facts and their brain generating the imagery against their will - or implant information using their own mind as the brainwashing system to do neural re-enforcement. You could easily program a person with such a device. I could certainly see the vatican both wanting to keep that device under their control AND not wanting anyone to use anything like it.

    Time travel is not possible. Time is not a thing that exists in reality that can be manipulated. Time is a concept, a creation of man's imagination to help him in daily tasks. Time cannot flow, cannot move forward or backward because Time does Not exist as anything but a mental concept.
