    Koromaru is C tier. Akihiko/Aegis/Either Yukari or Mitsuru, is the only party that makes sense if you're going for optimal

    I always thought Phys was pretty good in P3, I remember using gale slash to tear the shit out of everything at 300+ per hit at level 20ish

      Physical is fine in P3 FES. But it doesn't scale well into late game. It uses a percentage of your health instead of a fixed amount of MP which doesn't mean game over when it hits zero.
      Very few enemies are weak to it, and it has no amp or boost skills to improve the damage like magic.
      It can crit unlike magic and Shiva's unique skill Pralaya can crit pretty consistently. But you get him at level 82.
      Since level 50 you've had access to the ultimate tier of magic spells. And in a few more levels you'll get access to Armageddon and be able to kill everything instantly anyway.

    I noticed you didn't mention the elemental weapons from Sword Fusion at the antique shop, but they can be EXTREMELY powerful in terms of party members dealing magic damage. For example, if you give Akihiko 'Sabazios' from itemising Cybele, then give him the Ice Amp accessory on top of that, due to him having Fist Master, this will actually make his ice damage even higher than Mitsuru's, and he still has his good Elec damage on top of that! Ken is also able to get good wind coverage with Gae Bolg from Cu Chulainn and innate Spear Master, but his is quite a bit weaker than Akihiko. Laevatinn from Surt and Mjolnir from Thor can also make Junpei's fire better and give Shinjiro a good Elec option since elemental weapons scale with Str and can even outpace -dyne magic without Weapon's Master depending on stats.
    Tl;dr, elemental weapons are extremely useful and somehow make Akihiko even better than he used to be, making him by far the best party member, having him just straight up outclass MItsuru despite her being the "strongest" magic user of the group. They can also help out some party members who generally struggle to keep up like Ken, Junpei & Shinji.

      Thanks for the in-depth comment!
      It's probably a result of how I play the game but I usually don't go for the fusion weapons outside of the ultimate ones.
      By the time of the bridge boss, and sometimes the boss before that, I've already hit Lv 50. So I can start getting ultimate personas like Surt and start dumping stat cards on them. So everything gets easier and easier from there.
      I did try to keep gear in mind while talking about characters like Yukari and Ken.
      Although either way it sounds like we agree on Akihiko being S tier.
      Definitely should check out those weapons on a future playthrough. They'd definitely be useful on something like the Pixie only run I've been considering doing.

      @@boxorileys Yeah I definitely recommend them! They're even pretty useful for MC, too. Fuse Thor for Elec Amp & Heavy Master and then itemise him into Mjolnir and use it with MC while he's equipped and you'll be hitting extremely hard

    Yukari is absolute best for me, but the top 1 is between akihiko and aigis

      Both are different flavors of support. And bothar e pretty fun characters. I still think Akihiko edges her out due to being able to deal pretty good physical damage with fist master and having magic and support.
      Also having single target debuffs for bosses is always useful. But single target buffs aren't as impactful and it takes a while for Aigis to learn the party wide ones. Especially with how buffing works in FES. IE, no extensions, have to wear till the buff wears off to recast.

      @@lucymorrison lol, she would end up in F tier on a waifu tierlist for me. But you can rest easy in the knowledge that she's the canon love interest for the MC.

    Junpei In B? But... Hes da man!

      He's a great character, love the guy! But he unfortunately suffers from relying on physical skills in Persona 3 FES. Also because you can't choose which skills they keep it's hard to stack the other regenerate skills with it.
      If those two things were fixed in a remake I would definitely bump him up to A.

    Honestly super accurate list aside from the fact that I don't think Koromaru is in the same tier as Mitsuru and Junpei he has less utility, less variety and less niches than they do
    Also less availability

    • @boxorileys
      @boxorileys  7 месяцев назад +1

      Long term he kinda falls off yeah. But since he doesn't get an awakening he starts out blocking both fire and dark which is extremly useful. Also the coverage of coverage of light and dark skills is really useful midgame. But the exclusive equipment thing definitely hurts him and he falls off when everyone starts getting their second awakening.

    Koro is the worst character in FES sadly. Same boat as Ken. Im saying that as someone who always runs Aigis / Ken / Koro.

      @boxorileys  6 месяцев назад

      Long term yeah. He gets a bit of a bump because he already has second evolution stats. But being weak to Light or Dark is rough in that game. And both suffer from trying to do too much and not being good at one specific thing.
