Jeffrey, once again, a very enlightening conversation. While I, self-identify as post-denominational, I see what were listed as Dr. Danker’s Methodist Essentials as true, Biblically derived doctrine. I will use these understandings in conversations with other believers. I personally would like to these essentials spread like a virus into more of the institutional church other than only Wesleyan traditions. Thanks.

Jeffrey, I agree. It drives me crazy that we do not have a definition of a disciple in the UMC.

46:40 The Canon of the Mass in the West included not only an invocation of the Holy Spirit upon the bread and wine to be the body and blood of Christ, but also included a prayer for God to send down His angel "In humble prayer we ask you, almighty God: command that these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy Angel to your altar on high in the sight of your divine majesty, …" which is still included in one of the approved eucharistic prayers of the Catholic Church. It was in the medieval liturgy and served as an explanation of how the real presence (or transubstantiation in their case) was effected - an angel bore the spiritual substance of the bread and wine up to heaven where God changed them into the body and blood of Christ, and the angel brought it back down to earth, all in an instant and invisibly. This wasn't lost on the Reformers and Anglicans, and it wasn't lost on Charles Wesley. The Wesleys were both high church for their day and Charles arguably more so than John.
Hosanna in the Highest by Charles Welsey 1745 verse 3:
    Angels in fixed amazement
    Around our altars hover,
With eager gaze adore the grace
    Of our eternal Lover:
    Himself and all His fullness
    Who gives to the believer;
And by this bread whoe’er are fed
Shall live with God for ever.

Howdy. Thank you for calling me back about the Class Meeting book. Also, good Bishop Ryle wrote an excellent book on Holiness, more from a Calvinist understanding than Wesleyan. It is excellent , though I disagree with his cessationist views regarding the empowring gifts. (I on the other hand am a secessionist..........................but that's another story. 😀)

Why do I never hear Methodists refer to the Articles of Religion when discussing theology?

You'll hear it from me plenty. Although, I can acknowledge we didn't hit on it in this piece. Stay tuned.

@@plainspokenpod I wonder how many modern methodists take Article XV seriously:
Article XV (Of Speaking in the Congregation in such a Tongue as the People Understand):
It is a thing plainly repugnant to the Word of God and the custom of the primitive church to have public prayer in the church or to minister the sacraments in a tongue not understood by the people. I Cor. 14:2, 19, 23, 28, 40.

Thank you for this interview. Our church did not choose global at this time. We went congregational. I was in process of lay leader training prior to our disafiliation but had to put that on hold w disafiliation. It sounds like School of Methodism would be very beneficial. Are there other options, outside of the UMC that will help in my journey to serving in my church? Thank you

Question: I heard Danker say Kevin Watson would be a speaker at "Mere Methodism," but I heard Jeffrey say David Watson. Are they both involved?

I haven't watched it again. I think I recall David being at Mere Methodism and Kevin being at School of Methodism.
