Fantastic! I now sort of imagine Nathaniel under the fig tree asking God "Do you not see me, Lord? Where have you been?" And Jesus walks up, "When you were under the fig tree", he leans forward and says, "I saw you." ;) Thanks brother. Interesting perspective!
I am learning about this at Junior Church this week. I like looking at when new testament stories show the old testament like Jacob's ladder in this one. Lots of the stories link up

The fig tree represents Israel and them that have integrity. Also, Jesus is calling the ones of the fig tree to Himself. To be believers in Jesus. Amen. God bless Israel open their hearts, mind and souls to your saving grace. Amen.
