This seems like an interesting idea, even if it's an April Fool's joke. Maybe there are downsides to inverting the spring that I'm not seeing, and I doubt it would would be any safer in terms of collisions or falls, but there's a lot to be said for locating the thing that's projecting a long ways off your leg, and for which you have no proprioception, in front of you, where you can easily see it and where it's far rarer to have limited clear-space. If nothing else, I've encountered a number of European antique stairways with treads narrow enough and risers tall enough to egregiously violate building code and make navigation with normally oriented stilts virtually impossible. Edit: I'm not saying it's a good idea to wear normal stilts backwards (there are too many potential safety issues, if nothing else), just that it seems like there might be some pretty significant advantages to designing stilts with their springs in the inverse orientation.
If you need inverse stilts to prevent hitting walls while texting on your mobile, you probably need therapy for your phone addiction... (and if you can't sit, get up or walk stairs with normal stilts, you just need more practice).
